I'm scared to point out the obvious.
DMZ on COD was a flop because nobody plays COD for DMZ.you are both being very pedantic, it's like saying Warzone isn't a battle royale because you could get a loadout instead of only finding on the map. or that smash bros isn't a fighting game because it's less combo driven and more positional.
An extraction mode is an extraction mode. an extraction game is an extraction game whether it's popular or not. These games exist on console, such weird gatekeeping.
Untrue, the mode was very popular for a time. Activision fucked it up with pay to win bullshit.DMZ on COD was a flop because nobody plays COD for DMZ.
Get real.
Define 'popular'.Untrue, the mode was very popular for a time. Activision fucked it up with pay to win bullshit.
Also plenty of people play COD for Warzone, same thing.
It wasn't a flop. Still played by thousands of people every day. As a matter of fact, Activision wanted to close the servers for it, but they're afraid to piss off the DMZ fans, so they keep them online.DMZ on COD was a flop because nobody plays COD for DMZ.

Popular as in, all over Twitch and Youtube, most of my COD friends list playing it.Define 'popular'.
Besides, saying COD is an extraction shooter is like saying No Man's Sky is a racing game.
And they are also working on the next iteration of it.It wasn't a flop. Still played by thousands of people every day. As a matter of fact, Activision wanted to close the servers for it, but they're afraid to piss off the DMZ fans, so they keep them online.
It was also not a flop because it really wasn't much of an effort. They barely put any resources on it, unlike a Zombies mode.It wasn't a flop. Still played by thousands of people every day. And I said that an half-assed extraction mode in a game like COD doesn't mean there is too much competition for extraction shooters, because ultimately it's just Hunt and apparently that Vigor.Popular as in, all over Twitch and Youtube, most of my COD friends list playing it.
He never said that, I believe he said DMZ was an extraction mode, which it is.
You said DMZ was a flop I was just pointing out it wasn't.And I said that an half-assed extraction mode in a game like COD doesn't mean there is too much competition for extraction shooters, because ultimately it's just Hunt and apparently that Vigor.
I expected more from Bungie, it's looking like the first Destiny had alot more variety at launch compared to Marathon.I know I'm not the target audience for this type of game, but I really find Bungie pretty small-minded... I mean, The Division 10 years ago had an open world, PvE activities, and a fully integrated extraction PvPvE zone — sounds way more ambitious than anything Bungie has done in the last decade.
Maybe it wasn't a flop then. I retract the statement. You said DMZ was a flop I was just pointing out it wasn't.
It's going to be interesting.I agree there isn't much competition in the space at the moment but free to play Delta Force is coming to consoles very soon then you have Arc Raiders following closely also.
DMZ = Dragon Mall Z?DMZ on COD was a flop because nobody plays COD for DMZ.
Get real.
The whole studio is either working on this or D2.I expected more from Bungie, it's looking like the first Destiny had alot more variety at launch compared to Marathon.
This just feels like a side project that they hope sticks while the majority of the studio works on something more ambitious.
Bungie has 850 employees, with 300 working on Marathon. The whole studio is either working on this or D2.
Delta Force is decent enough. Great package for "free"Maybe it wasn't a flop then. I retract the statement.
It's going to be interesting.
Signed up for the Arc Raiders test, but knowing it's from the studio behind The Finals, I don't have high hopes (Finals gunplay was trash).
Delta Force looks interesting though.
It'll depend on which game has the best 'hook'.
Gotta try em all out first anyway.
Yeah like I said the rest are on D2, with a small team on that Gummy Bears game.Bungie has 850 employees, with 300 working on Marathon.
Not really, Drewsky is very critical of Bungie and Destiny at times.Sounds like he's reading from a script Bungie gave him.
Seems like the 4th map, the Marathon, might be the end-game map, likely where ranked will take place.
They briefly talk about it (around 12:45), but it seems like we gear up and prepare our runners to attempt to run Marathon, kinda like Destiny raids.
Except here, you'll have to risk losing your character if you fail to get out alive, which means you'll have to prepare a new runner (or have a couple ready to go).
Maybe that's the catch? Definitely sounds interesting enough.
Destiny PvP has been dead since they started listening to the PvE players on what should be nerfed. Ridiculously stupidsomething that took away resources from Destiny's pvp to the point where it just ….died

Bungie killed Destiny PVP because they couldn't monetise it, nothing to do with this game.As a big Destiny fan I think this looks fucking horrible.
I'm sure it will find its audience but I really hope they are not depending on all Destiny fans to just blindly accept something that took away resources from Destiny's pvp to the point where it just ….died
I think style wise it looks fine, but the characters are over-designed. Like they feel over-designed yet kinda all look samey due to that.it's really ugly graphically... you can't tell what they were aiming for. Maybe a 70s Kraftwerk type style? Or something like the I, Robot movie? If the idea was to be inspired by Wipeout's Designer Republic... well then lol, change trades! Anyway, the result is messy, really crap to look at, makes my eyes bleed! And to think that Destiny all in all was pretty good, it had its own coherence even if it was a bit of a rip-off from Star Wars. This new title really makes a laughing stock graphically, it's not about being scalable, it's just obscene to look at, the viewer runs away from it, doesn't even try it... I marvel at Bungie!
another one. I didn't know their trailers had such bad like to deslike ratio and they even disable comments? wow

It's not really about this particular video, but how the narrative has been settled; the topics of art direction, pricing model, Bungie's decline, hardcore vs mainstream fanbase and the type of game itself are working against Marathon's success.I couldn't watch much because he starts out banging on art style and pricing model
Art style to me means nothing if the game is fun, I dont have thousands of hours in games like Rocket League because I am attracted to the visuals
Pricing models?
Did they reveal pricing? Did I miss that announcement?
Again if the game is fun it can be priced accordingly to me
It's a game that will certainly evolve from where it currently is. It is very evident that Bungie is clearly looking for community feedback to steer the direction. I don't view that as a bad thing. I think millions of gamers will be there at launch, regardless, solely because of their love for Bungie's gunplay. And as barebones as Marathon appears, there are tons of examples of successful gaas games that evolved from their launch. There is no reason to think Bungie won't properly adjustIt's not really about this particular video, but how the narrative has been settled; the topics of art direction, pricing model, Bungie's decline, hardcore vs mainstream fanbase and the type of game itself are working against Marathon's success.
Bungie has fumbled Marathon's "gameplay reveal"
The initial misunderstanding around the price point (which hasn't been confirmed either way) is the clearest example that this game is being pushed early ( as well as the fact that the narrative hasn't been written yet)
What are you taking about? You don't think Bungie has expansion planned into marathon?
They'll lose 0.00% of sales because they didn't announce price 6 months before release. The initial misunderstanding around the price point (which hasn't been confirmed either way) is the clearest example that this game is being pushed early ( as well as the fact that the narrative hasn't been written yet)
