I retired my Chromecast 2 after (I think) 10+ years of service

About a week ago, server side issues at Google rendered all Chromecast 2 devices (including Chromecast Audio) inoperable. It took them a long time to fix it, plus I don't want a device that relies on their servers

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Enjoy, I've been a huge fan of my Nvidia Shield since the first model released back in 2015. It's a shame the new remote isn't as good as the old one (the old one had a rechargeable battery and a 3.5 mm audio jack) but this is a damn fine device.

If you're not opposed to tinkering, the "Chromecast with Google TV (4K)" is great, if you can find it since it's been discontinued. You can load your own launcher and sideload apps just like the Shield. In fact, I have my Sheild in the living room and a Chromecast in the office. Both have an identical setup (so that it passes the wife test) and they're functionally the same. The Chromecasts used to cost $50 new.

This is the one you want:

Opernrun Pro by Shokz, a bone conduction headphones for exercising. Even since I got a sinus infection a month ago I started getting really annoyed with things in my ears (plus I know me sweating while running might have contributed to it). So when I had a chance to get refurbished sealed one for 50% off I jumped on it.

They work like a charm, exactly what I wanted.
I have a set I wear under my full face mtb helmet when I go riding. Sound quality is no where near in ear but for my use case scenario they are amazing and I have found myself wearing them everywhere now just as background noise that allows me to hear the outside world.

Picked it up for under 30 for my wife's bday. Didn't even trade in her GLC.

Never cared for teslas, but FSD has been AMAZING. Fucking killer apppp of all cars.

ASS - actual smart summon impressed me today at Walmart.
Porsche Dealer didn't even know it had 3rd row option, nor full FSD package. Last owner ditched it for a Taycan due to the brand.

Thanks elon!

Picked up a broken clock for approx. $125 with shipping (rough conversion). Almost 4yr old son wants a cuckoo clock for his birthday, but they're kinda expensive. Hopefully I can fix it up. Seems to just be contacts and wire corrosion.

Jesus Christ, suddenly I'm spending so much money:

Tommy Hilfiger long-sleeve t-shirt 3 pack for 60€, because it started getting hot and I realized I have absolutely zero t-shirts for the summer

Sony WH-CH720N ANC headphones for 80€ because Shokz don't cut it in the morning commute and I want to listen to audiobooks, podcasts and classical music, also I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on the cans

An iPhone 16 Pro Max as a work phone

I despised iPhones for their tiny screen, but I finally found an iPhone big enough for me to enjoy it, and with USB C and a camera shutter button on the side. It's basically my old Xperia 1 phone.

I never really looked into wireless earbuds before. I always thought they were way more expensive. But these cost about the same as a new game, and I’m pretty happy with them. They fit well, sound decent enough, and that’s more than enough for the gym
