If you haven't seen it already, watch Braindead (aka Dead Alive in some regions). It's super funny, slapstick gory, and the best thing Peter Jackson ever made (I'm not a LotR fan).

It’s this, movie is amazing. If you only know Peter Jackson from LotR or Frighteners, you have to check out his earlier stuff.
Braindead, Bad Taste, and Meet the Feebles are all super fun to watch.

Return of the living dead is one of my favourite movies ever. It's so good. That intro sequence alone is top cinema and has stuck with me even now.

Hot Fuzz is also one of my favourites but it really shouldn't be on this list, it's not horror except a couple scenes.

Also honorable mentions for me would be Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.
