Won't Switch 1 games just run better on the Switch 2? Much like when you get a better PC? You don't have to buy a newer version PC game to get better FPS or resolution.

I get why the resolution won't likely be better but it should run faster and smoother.

If Nintendo announced a "paid, but with extra content" version of Animal Crossing New Horizons, I'd literally have to pre-order two Switch 2s.

Probably in some cases where a game struggles to hit its target framerate. But if a game is capped at 30fps the Switch 2 can't magically unlock that.

Load times will probably be a little better too, but not dramatically.

I would really like to see 'Welcome Tour' enhanced on NS3 with 4K/120fps and maybe ray-tracing and extra material. But that's realistically at least 8 years away and we don't know what DLC it'll get already on NS2.

Upgrades I would like to see within the first year.

The Witcher 3
The Sinking City
Metroid Dread
Xenoblade Chronicles X (and 2 and DE)
Astral Chain
Call of Cthulhu
Dragon Quest 11
Hogwarts Legacy
Vampyr
Red Dead Redemption
Metro Redux
Crash Bandicoot NSane trilogy
Crisis Core
Forged in Shadow Torch
Crysis remastered
Bioshock collection
Luigis Mansion 3

All of them. Obviously.
Pretty much.

Although if I had to prioritize I'd go for:

Metroid Dread, Bayonetta 3, and No More Heroes 3 at 120fps and 4K60 docked.

And the same for Mario and Luigi: Brothership with the additional removal of load times between battles.

everything that has a 30fps lock.
Astral Chain, all Xenoblades etc.

but I also hope the default performance boost games get is good enough for stuff like Bayonetta 3 to lock to 60fps

Nier Automata at 60fps would be nice.
Dark Souls as well. I'd rather have Dark Souls at 1080@60fps than Elden Ring @30fps...
Doom 3 with a 60fps lock.
Dead Cells with a 60fps lock.
Both Ai Somnium Files games with better resolution/framerate would be appreciated.
Valkyria Chronicles 1 which has a very rough port could be improved quite a bit.
Sonic games at 60fps (Forces, Team Racing, Shadow Generations).

Isn't Hyrule Warriors getting an update? That is a very underrated game.

I bought pikmin 4 for my son and only played a bit into it myself so I will splurge for that upgrade and of course Metroid Dread the best game in t he last 20 years. :messenger_sunglasses:

That's not always the case.
If a game is hardcoded to run 30fps, it will forever be 30fps.
If a game's framerate is unlocked, it has potential to hit 60fps on stronger hardware.
The good news is the likeliness of smoother frame pacing for both is almost guaranteed. Almost.

Zelda: EOW. Thought it was fun and looked nice, but the framerate was so inconsistent. I dropped out after dungeon 3 but told myself I'd rejoin it if we saw enhancements for S2.

Astral Chain and Bayonetta 3.

Astral Chain is still one of my favorite Switch games but it always felt like the gameplay would be so much better at 60fps.
Bayonetta 3 not only needs a more stable 60fps but also a big boost in resolution. It just looks absolutely awful in docked mode.

The only stuff I really care about in the Switch library in first party, and nothing I know of first party has any tech problems really big enough to be corrected. Just give me an option to unlock the framerate and render at 1080p
