What the hell happened with Capcom's Pragmata?

With the announcements of new Onimusha and Okami games, another Monster Hunter around the corner and the inevitable release of another RE banger, there's still one game in development at Capcom that's been very silent lately:

And this is the last we heard from the dev team right at the same time as the trailer:

Almost 5 years now since the first teaser, and no release date in sight. Or even a minor update to clarify if the game's still in development.

Wouldn't be the first time something is cancelled by Capcom after showing the game off but it did look great. Looked to me like a Sci-Fi Ico with some Miyazaki game design inspiration.

Capcom has been great this gen. Hopefully this game sees the light this year. It’ll be a really cool surprise. We know so little about the game. It can be so many things.

Cancelled to make room for more remakes and reboots.

But seriously, Capcom's new IPs all flopped. They have no reason to invest in them.

was just thinking about this game...capcom showing at a 2026 onimusha game at the state of play, and no update on pragmata, i think it's bad news.

Plot twist: during development, a typo in an internal memorandum changed the title from Pragmata to Pratmaga.

So now it is a movie in production starring Chris Pratt as he tries to Make America Great Again.

Yeah, I saw it mentioned on a Gameranx video this morning, featuring games that are in development hell. He said Capcom has a good track record, "doesn't just give up," and we could see it in 2026, but he didn't sound optimistic.

Hasn't this been delayed indefinitely? I imagine that they're quite busy with Monster Hunter (which a lot of people seem to care about) and the next Resident Evil.

Even if it is in a showable state, Capcom has pumped the brakes on big reveals for now.

Their most important project, Monster Hunter Wilds, had to get all of the marketing and come out first, then afterwards we will see what new game is shown in spring/summer.

My guess is only one new AAA reveal in the next 6 months. Since we have Onimusha and Okami already confirmed, they will keep it at a limit of 3, which is smart. Onimusha is already being treated as the next game that will receive multiple trailers and gameplay snippets like MH Wilds did throughout last year.
