Simple question, really. My favourite seems to change often, depending on my mood, if I've seen it recently, etc... These days though, it would have to be "Homer at the bat". A great, funny episode that gets better when you read up on the baseball references.

My least favourite would have to be that falconry episode that aired recently. The current day writers mostly fail at comedy, so to have them do a more heartfelt episode is really stretching their talents and boy howdy, it does show they can't handle it.

I don't really have a favourite, but the episode with the two Skinners has to be one of the worst.

Favorite: Marge vs. the Monorail/Mr. Plow

Basically the show firing on all cylinders.

Least: New Kid on the Block

While not the WORST episode by far it was the weakest in the stronger seasons in my book.

I think my favourite episode is 'And Maggie Makes Three'. It's a touching look at fatherhood that really highlights all the best elements of the show. There's lots of very funny jokes in it - the explanation of where bowling pins go being a particularly great gag - yet there's also a lot of heart in there. There's many great episodes in the show, but none have everything come together quite as well as that episode.

As far as least favourite goes, I really don't know. Probably something in a recent season. Bad stuff doesn't stick with me as much as the good.

Favourite: Either a Streetcar named Marge or Marge on the Lam. Basically an episode with Homer vs a vending machine

Least favourite: The one with the skinner imposter maybe. Theres probably been way worse maybe. When they get offensively bad they're hard to remember.

Favorite : Too many to choose. Maybe Itchy and Scratchy Land.

Least favorite : The Principal and the Pauper (Armin Tamzarian). That's when the show jumped the shark for me and when I stopped watching.

I don't remember a lot of episodes so I'll just go for Homer's Enemy for best.

Don't remember a particular worst episode, I quit watches ages ago.

Favorite: Homer at the Bat - Pure irreverent entertainment all the way through, and despite using real life celebrities to play themselves, they actually give them funny personalities and traits. Unlike modern Simpsons where they wheel out a celebrity every other week and pander to them.

Least: That's 90's show - It screws up the continuity of earlier flashback episodes for the worse and comes off feeling like a desperate attempt to capture the warmth and emotion from those early installments but failing miserably in the process, which just makes this one even more depressing as a result.

I think my favorite is The Springfield Files. That opening sequence, with the orchestra on the bus, is amazing.

Least favorite is harder to say, can't really pick one.

I always thought the one where Krusty gets reunited with his father was one of the best episodes.

least favorite? i don't know. i'll assume it's one of the newer seasons though.

My favourite episode has to be At the Mountains of Madness.

It's just funny from beginning to end. There are some real smart and real simple gags in there.

I essentially view old and new Simpsons as different shows to be honest. There are a lot of terrible episodes to choose from among the newer episodes. I see a lot of hate for the Sadgasm one but for me,just in terms of not being good at all, the one where Lisa and her friend create an imaginary world called Equestria or soemthing, just awful.

Most Favorite: All of them between 2000 and The Simpson Movie.

Least Favorite: All of them after The Simpson Movie.

Favourite: Cape Feare
Least: That sad-gasm one or something. Anyone who says The Principle and The Pauper can get the fuck out, there are countless worse episodes which follow. And don't tell me that episode is the worst because it "signals the downfall" or some crap like that.

Favorite: Last Exit to Springfield / Summer of 4 Ft. 2 (TIE)
Least Favorite: Moe Goes from Rags to Riches

I'm probably the only person in this thread that has watched EVERY episode. Including last night's. Which sucked.

Favourite = Very difficult to decide. Probably Lemon of Troy (Homer at the Bat is brilliant though, very close second).

Least = Everything from Season 14 onwards #bandwagonbutseriouslytheysuck

My favorite would have to be Homer At The Bat. (I told you to shave those sideburns!)
Least favorite: When Selma or Patty adopts the baby.

Favourites are way too many to count, but I'll say You Only Move Twice right now because it was on TV recently and I was laughing the whole way through.

"Oh my god, the 59th street bridge!"
"Maybe it collapsed on its own..."
"We can't take that chance!"
"You always say that! I want to take a chance!"
"Psssh, collapsed on its own!"

The whole Mr. Bont thing, "stop him, he's supposed to die!" and then Homer so proud that he "tackled a loafer at work today". Lmao.

And Scorpio's villain song being all about how he treats his employees like gold haha.

Favorite - Rosebud

Least favorite - It's a tie between the 90s episode and the Lady Gaga episode. I still don't know why I watched them.

Best is a tie between Last Exit to Springfield & You Only Move Twice

worst....just throw a dart at any ep after season 12 or so, it'll probably be pretty bad

best: hard to pick one, but homer vs nyc and last exit to springfield are some of my favs.

worst: boys of bummer or the episode where marge joins a country club (can't remember the episode name, but it was really boring)

I always had a soft spot for Saturdays of Thunder.

Watching Homer act like a realistically bad father is heart breaking after a certain age, and then seeing him come around for Bart... it works so damn well.

Martin: What is the matter with you?
Bart: It's my dad. Lying there on the couch, drinking a beer, staring at the TV... I've never seen him like that.
"Do it for your old man, boy!"

Also, what a fantastic opener:

Some others I always return to:

  • Flaming Moe's
  • Mountain of Madness
  • Radio Bart
  • Last Exit To Springfield
  • Treehouse of Horror 2-6
  • Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish"

Favorite: the episodes that are filled with jokes and focus on jokes even if it comes at the expense of story.

Least favorite: the episodes that put story first and fit in jokes where they can.

Also, I especially hate the celebrity guest episodes where they draw the celebrity with sad eyes and they have some sort of sad backstory, then they bond with one of the Simpson family members but at the end they have to leave. They put the celebrity's guest character arc ahead of comedy. Those shows are the least funny.

Favorite: I don't the names but probably the Michael Jackson one.

Least Fav: Maude dying. So weird and definitely a quality hit after that.

Favourite(s) -

And Summer of 4 ft 2

Least favourite - I haven't watched many of the new ones, but I think it definitely goes to the Lady Gaga episode.

Favorite: The Scorpio episode. So many great lines.

Least favorite: The one where Skinner was fake, out of the older episodes I've seen. Just because one of the writers of the episode in interviews had a smug attitude because it got exactly the kind of reaction he expected (caring about character development etc. in a cartoon show).

The Boy-Scoutz in the Hood episode has some great quotes

Homer: So how was jerk practice, boy? Did they teach you how to sing to trees, or build crappy furniture out of useless wooden logs? Huh? (chair falls apart on him) D'oh! Stupid poetic justice!

Bart: Actually, we were just planning the father-son river rafting trip

Homer: Heh heh. You don't have a son.

Favourite: Last Exit to Springfield

Really hard to give one, but that always sticks out for me.

I won't give a worst, I haven't watched most of the recent seasons.

I seem to remember really liking the episode "Duffless" more than most, but I'm sure if I rewatched the first 6-7 seasons again and tried I'd be able to pinpoint an actual favorite.

My most loathed episode is "That '90s Show," still.

Favorite is harder.

Sometimes it's:
• You Only Move Twice
• Last Exit to Springfield
• And Maggie Makes Three
• El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer

"And Maggie Makes Three" is probably my favorite. It always gets me at the end there. But the episode itself is chock full of good jokes along the way.

Least favorite would be one of the episodes after season 9.

Favourite would be a tie between

homer vs the 18th amendment

and

JCHRedR.jpg

Mountain of Madness

Fuck I loved Season 8.

Least favourite, remembering I don't really count anything post s09 because I hatehatehate it...
This stupid fucking shit right here. Other than THRILLHO (amazing) I hate this episode with a passion. Too heartfelt, Bart being a little shit and Marge being a mom blah blah lesson learned who gives a fuck. I hate Christmas episodes of any show but this is one episode I will never ever watch if it's on.
