Ignoring release year then the best game of the year is yet again Elden Ring, currently going through it on Steam Deck OLED and it is glooorious

Just bought a PS5 and bought both of these games on sale. Can’t wait to dive in when I have some spare time.

Swap a few control settings, dash and melee I think, and they'll control near identically which helps when switching. Highly recommend a headset for Returnal. (can't remember if you have to enable 3d audio, but make sure it's on) Both take full advantage of the dualsense haptics. Lucky to be you!

These are my favorites even if I didn't play all of them to completion.

1. Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty - One of my favorite games ever now.
2. Baldur's Gate 3 - The proper release winner, return of the king. More than I could have ever wished for.
3. Returnal - Released this year on PC, incredible AAA roguelike, there's nothing quite like it. I wonder why it didn't sell more on PC, but they kind of dropped support early.
4. Alan Wake 2 - I'm not too big on horror, but loved the creative storytelling and jaw dropping graphics.
5. Inkbound - Early access but great roguelike from the Monster Train devs that is getting even better. Also a fun co-op game.
6. Dredge - Fishing game of the year.
7. Star Ocean - The Second Story R - Making my way through this now, it's a very enjoyable JRPG.
8. Cocoon - Beautiful Indie
9. Bramble: The Mountain King - Awesome, if a bit janky and performance isn't great for what it is. Soft spot for the Nordic fairytale theme.
10. Lies of P - Great Souls like, performs like a dream on Steam Deck. Will probably never finish it as I suck too much at it.

Honorable mentions:

• Diablo 4 - Had a lot of fun with the campaign, but life's too short for grinding end game in this.
• Darkest Dungeon 2 - Will get to playing it more. Some disliked it but I think I prefer it to the first. Not sure if it counts as it was on Epic earlier, but who cares.
• Hogwarts Legacy - Didn't get too far, might deserve a higher spot, but I wasn't in the mood for it.
• Astrea - Six Sided Oracles. Cool roguelike. Slay the Spire with dices and a lot of risk / reward. 7/10.

Had higher hopes for:

• The Last of Us (PC) - Thought I would love this, but I guess I don't like stealth gameplay a lot. Or zombies. Preferred Uncharted 4 honestly.
• Starfield I guess was ok in some respects.. maybe with mods in a few years, but I found it shallow and the writing and characters were just mind numbingly boring.
• Dave the Diver - I don't know why I don't love this when I feel like I should.
