Anyway, Halo didn't look bad to me, just not impressive. But it kind of nailed the CE feels for me. And its a launch exclusive. I still wonder what PS5's launch title is. I might not jump into next-gen right away this time. I find the current to be fine still, something absolutely not the case with PS360 from 2011-12 onwards.

Way more games and better too. Forza's 2 second game engine clip looked leagues better than GT7. GT7 looked no better than GT Sport.

And even better, half the games shown are on GP.

Tell Me Why and that other story game with the cardboard kind of cut outs are definitely not the kinds of game I care about playing, but at least better than Volcano High. lol

Watched the show without looking at the forums. It was a really good showing, 22 launch exclusives over a wide range of games, Halo looked like Halo again, Stalker 2, Avowed, Fable, Everwild etc, etc. Almost all of them on Gamepass.

Probably because you don't get to show trailers for an event that was hyped up for 2 months without disappointing people. That's what they've done here.

22 timed exclusives literally mean nothing, that time could have been dedicated to the other 6 studios or full on gameplay reveals, and Fable may have been announced too early when they could have planned all of these games years ago for the first year of their console's lineup. Face it, Microsoft blew it only for them to announce announcements at yet another event, but then again... they acquired mostly Indie studios.

I completely agree, there were just fields of flat grass with trees darted around, it’s really poor.

I suppose compared to Horizon 2 it is running at 60fps, but even so the Series X has a 12TF GPU, it should be doing a lot more.

There should be shitloads of enemies coming at Master Chief, with awesome particle effects, and exciting moments, what they showed was current gen (Jaguar CPU) stuff, less than a handful of enemies on screen at a time, and a sparse environment.

Was really underwhelming.

You only buy an xbox if you have no pc. Buy gamepass and you play virtualy for free but that "free" comes at a hefty price and that is content and quality.

None of the games shown screamed aaa big budget and thats probably due to gamepass.

I am not drawing comperisons between ps5 and xbox show.
I rate this show as xbox only and i have to say i havent seen such a poor showing from them in years.

Honestly this is the first next gen cycle where i am not excited for the release of any new console.

Neither Sony or MS have made the argument for an IMMEDIATE hardware purchase.

But I'm probably going to get the Series X because there seems to be a growing list of optimized games.

Assuming the PS5 will have greater demand and less supply, I can put it off for now.

Other than Gamepass as a great deal to try different games. No reason to buy this console. Playing the same games “better” is not enough. It’s a new gen so I want new gen games. If you have an Xbox one X you could play the same games. If I want to play games “better” I would build a PC. I want what can’t be done on a previous gen.

After Sony have released Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. This was Microsofts moment to show and not tell. They spent the entire generation beating we promise we gonna have quality exclusives. The moment has arrived to show that and they failed. To show CG trailers and not even know the genre of a game (I'm looking at Everwild), this ain't the time to just show CG trailer or in engine trailer. We have been shown games far off from Microsoft for those games to either be cancelled (Fable Legends, Scalebound, Phantom Dust) or hyped but turned out to be B tier or average game (ReCore, Crackdown).

We needed a moment like the first gameplay reveal of Ghost of Tsushima where you introduced to the game in the form of gameplay.

How am I supposed to be hyped for Everwild, Fable or Avolved. What if Everwild is a Animal Crossing type game or strategy game I'm not interested in that genre, what if Avolved is a Outerwilds version of Elder Scrolls, smaller in scope. What if Fable is a flop like Fable 3. These ain't sequels to games that have already been successful in their previous entry. So for a first showing they should have shown mind blowing gameplay.

This was Microsofts time to say look we have a AAA new IP, or we can reinvent our old IP and get you hyped. Instead we got a bunch of VG trailers and Halo that looks like more of the same with basic graphics.

That was a good show, I thought. Didn't blow away the PS5 showing completely, but was better. For my tastes, anyway.

New Fable from Playground is real, so I'm delighted. Halo looked really good, confirmation of open world has my attention. Everwild looks a bit different & a bit special, I really want to see some gameplay from it. Avowed was a very nice surprise for me, as I thought it would be a possible mid-gen title if real, so that was a real bonus.

I'll be checking out the Hellblade 2 dev diaries. Looking forward to the Outer Worlds expansion. Keeping an eye on a few more titles after today as well, like Stalker 2. I know nothing about that one, but it was intriguing. In fact after today, I'm feeling really good about both PS5 & Series X to be honest. Think this next generation is going to be an absolute blast. So much to look forward to. Happy days for us gamers

"Console Launch Exclusive" means that the game is coming to Steam and when the game launches on the console side of things it's coming only to Xbox and not PlayStation. ... If all those games are exclusive to Xbox and PC then that changes things.

So still no reason to buy an Xbox for it when i have a good gaming pc. Additional i can get a shit ton of Mods for a bad game to turn it into a good game.

Stalker 2 and Fable confirmation is about as exciting as it got. That's it. No solid dates, just tons of trailers for stuff that could arrive at any time in the next 2 years. I'm not comparing it to the ps5 reveal, they said they have 15 studios rn, they don't have that many established ips like sony. They have the money to fund AAA or AA games but they churn out this crap. They don't have gow, uncharted,tlou like games. Weird gen... I like what PS and Xbox are doing with the actual boxes for the most part yet at the same time I'm not seeing any reason to buy them. I didn't feel any different watching this compared to watching Sony, aside from the Bugsnax meme factor and the Volcano High cringe-factor.

Stupid as it may sound the most interesting thing here for me was Destiny 2 coming to GamePass, just because I have GamePass for like 2 more years, I (sort of) play D2 on PC, and because Bungie is being total shit about crossplay if I want to play with Xbox friends I would have needed to buy content a second time which I just am not into (I used to double dip on so many multiplayer games and I'm totally over it in the crossplay era). In theory this could bridge the gap but without real crossplay I might not even bother playing D2 in the next year anyway.

uh rift apart was just jumping though, nothing more. did you see the gameplay trailer? not talking about the announcement trailer, which was very misleading, talking about the GAMEPLAY trailer.

Yes. Yes I did. Ratchet was swapping out entire levels. Geometry, lighting, NPCs, environment scripts, enemy AI, the works. PS5's SSD can completely saturate it's game-use RAM pool in under 2 seconds with compressed data and we saw that in Rift/Apart. The Medium showed two versions of a level running simultaneously and allowing you to trigger a palette swap. Meaning both are in RAM simultaneously and there is minimal RAM swapping. TitanFall 2 did this back in 2016. If what Sonomashine said was true then TitanFall 2 did it first and all of these devs have been excited for SSDs for nothing.

Somebody put the Xbox lineup next to that. It seems to me that the Medium takes the cake here. Silent Hill is back. Avowed, Fable, HB2 all look super next-gen but we'll have to wait years for that gameplay.
Sony is expert at pacing a conference, I think that's what they did better than MS.
