I probably went downstairs to check the letterbox for my copy of RE5 about 20 times

That 15 minute install time felt like an eternity

Gran Turismo 2.
I was a big fan of the first part, so the second one should have been even better shouldn't it?

Unfortunately GT2 became a huge downgrade, I played it a lot, but never enjoyed.

Not to buy for myself but Halo 2 and 3. Older brother bought them but was excited to play co-op.
Bar GT7, dont really get that excitement anymore. Maybe GTAVI...

The Last Ninja 3
- Probably the earliest one I truly waited on, most games at that time I mostly stumbled on but LN3 was in my laser sight for a long time because of magazine articles

Ridge Racer
Wipeout
Toshinden
- the whole PS1 launch was magical, those games had me super excited

Soul Calibur
- DC launch, SC felt like having an arcade machine a home

Oblivion
- first The Elder Scrolls game for me, lots of hype from trailers near the 360 launch

Gears of War - one of the biggest ones because of the visuals and that hype Mad World trailer

Starfield - this one was huge, I was counting the hours

Astro Bot - latest one to have me truly excited, whole family was there when I started it

Red Dead 2 I was mega hyped for and it lived up.
GTA IV no doubt, I've never seen anything like that

This trailer was groundbreaking when it launched and looks so …… plain today.

I was so hyped for this at the time and it did hit, although wanted more of the vice city property purchasing etc. it wasn’t a rags to riches story though and Niko is still one of the best characters they have made in my eyes.

I'm probably be forgetting a few, but:

- Bioshock Infinite (I guess worth the hype)
- FF 13 (definitely not worth ... anything?)
- GTA San Andreas (worth looking a magazine pictures for hours)
- FF 7 Remake (one of my best gaming experiences despite sky high expectations)
- FF 7 Rebirth (even better than Remake)
- Company of Heroes 2 (probably among my biggest disappointments, ended up not buying the game after playing the alpha and beta and CoH1 is my most played game ever)
- Battlefield 3 (I did not like it as much as 2, it lacked the tactical depth and mod support and didn't have the amazing destruction of Bad Company, but it was still good fun)
- Burnout Paradise (didn't like it on PS3, but weirdly enough I loved it on PC a few years later)
- The Witcher 3 (my favorite western made RPG to this day)

So overall I would say I rarely got burned on the hype. But on the other hand I was not hyped for a lot of my favorite games, since I just played them on a whim and loved them (like the PS1 Final Fantasies)

The Last Of Us Yes GIF by PlayStation

KungFucius

King Snowflake
Zelda OoT
MGS2
Super Mario World
Maybe BoTW - but not sure because by the time this title was in the pipeline I was used to the many delays Zelda games get and Skyward Sword. That said, my anticipation for the next one is already high.

Neverwinter Nights. After adoring BG2, I was obsessed with any information about Neverwinter Nights. The jump to 3D graphics seemed unreal. It didn't turn out as good but I still enjoyed it.

Dragon Age Inquisition. Similar story here in that I loved Origins (I still kind of ignore DA2) and it felt like a true generational jump, but it was merely an OK game.

Cyberpunk 2077. The Witcher 3 is the GOAT for me and Cyberpunk was a disappointment initially. It looked alright, the story felt alright but something was missing. I never played it til completion until 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, but then it became one of my favorite games.

GTA 3 probably. The switch from 2D to full 3D was hard to believe... then I played the game on my cousin's PC and I was blown away. Unfortunately I had to wait like 4 months until my parents bought me a new PC and I've spent a ton of time in that game just having fun.

Yeah I remember there was a countdown for that trailer, it looks bad now it's a x360 game but at the time all of it looked pretty good I remember people getting blown away by the fact that bullet holes would stay on cars.
