Shit, well okay. I'm gonna to try to do this from memory. For proof you'll have to scour old KF threads and ED (when and if it starts working again). Basically all gamergate discussion was banned from 4chan after a few weeks so many migrated to 8chan - a new site at the time. Now the idea of 8chan was to be like a combination of reddit and 4chan, same board structure as 4chan but anyone can make their own boards and can appoint their own moderators. Terrible fucking idea in retrospect - you end up getting the hivemind mentality of subreddits mixed with the 'I was only pretending to be retarded but oh shit now actual retards think I'm being serious' attitude of 4chan - but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
There's an entire story about what a shitshow gamergate turned into on that site (wherein different gamergate boards went to war with each other for absolutely stupid reasons) but that'll have to wait for another day. At the same time a new board started up called /hebe/, a board dedicated to underage jailbait pictures. Not actual child pornography just really fucking close. It's disgusting but I do need to point out that nearly ever single popular site ends up having this problem. The top Google result for reddit for several years was r/jailbait and tumblr basically nuked their entire site once they learnt of the problem.
Anyway at a certain point a man named Dan Olsen, who had publicly stated his stance as being very anti-gamergate, wrote a long-ass expose of how 8chan was harbouring paedophiles. And how this was somehow gamergate's fault? Again reddit had the same problem when it was started, 4chan created the fucking pedobear meme about the problems that site faced and most recently tumblr nuked itself over the issue. And again it was a legal....ish board featuring no nudity, any actual underage nudes where deleted under the sites rules (however due to the nature of 8's moderation this was admittedly often a slow process because 8chan was a bad idea).
Then weird shit happens. I can't quite remember the order of events off the top of my head, it's been a while. But if I remember correctly the stink Dan caused about paedophilia caused 8chan to be de-listed from Google's search results. Dan had downloaded some of the 'porn' himself and - I think - was trying to report it to the authorities. Anyway some channers looked at the images and found that they weren't actually pornographic in nature, Dan himself had blurred out the crotch area despite the underage girls being clothed (I feel really gross writing this by the way as I'm essentially having to defend possible peadophiles ogling at pictures of underage - but technically fully clothed - girls but that's the way shit goes.)
Some more digging happens and it's discovered that the person who founded the /hebe/ board and one of the head moderators was a person named Laureli Bailey, an incredibly infamous figure online with a rap sheet as long as my fucking arm. I'd say check ED but it's down at the moment so I'll try to sum them up briefly. Insane antics and stories follow in their wake. Infamous in the Channology community, on various chan boards and especially on reddit. Basically someone had figured out that the IP that had registered /hebe/ had also registered SJWiki and a few other sites all of which had Laureli's name on it. Also it's worth noting that Laureli themselves was an anti-gamergator.
Now it's hard to tell what exactly happened. There's a lot of contradictory information about this out there - plus a shitload has been deleted in the years since which is the time-honoured tradition of all the gamergate drama - but I'll try my best. It turned out that Laureli and Dan Olsen were... friends isn't the right word, acquaintances online and had communicated with each other before any of this went down. In a secret chat group. Which included Zoe Quinn. If I remember correctly it may have been the Crash Override Network logs but don't quote me on that, it may have been a different, earlier chat-group. It's worth noting that both of them were ex-communicated from said chat-group after this went down.
It's also worth noting that the pictures Dan Olsen downloaded weren't illegal, at least in America. However Dan Olsen lived in Canada where downloading said images is illegal. This lead to a lot of people making fun of him for being a paedophile (he wasn't he was actually either incompetent or stupid). However due to the nature of gamergate, wherein no one actually knew what was going on or what was real or fake, led to many people thinking Olsen actually was a peadophile, which he isnt (at least as far as I can tell) he's just a numbskull.
Either way it kinda worked and as a result traffic died on 8chan for a long time and the site's founder Frederick Brennan ended up abandoning the site soon after, leading to 8chan now being what it is today: where a mass shooter can post their manifesto and a link to a live-stream of their video of said massacre without any moderation stepping in to delete this shit because there is little to no moderation left.
Now there are many conspiracies about this due to the fact that Dan and Lauerli were in contact with each other before this all went down. There may even be some evidence that this was the two of them framing gamergate by... posting (near) child pornography...? Ugh. I haven't been able to find any evidence that actually shows that it was a set-up, including in the secret chat-log which Zoe Quinn was privy to. However the fact that both of them were in contact (in secret!) with each other beforehand is really fucking suspicious. If there's any more evidence to prove the guilt of either of them, or even contradictory evidence that might prove their innocence, I'm all ears.

Sarah Butts' who if I remember correctly was also a massive paedophile and who, for some reason, was also in various chat-logs with Zoe Quinn. I can't remember her story of the top of my head though as the rather good video about them has been deleted in the years since. Maybe take this evidence with a grain of salt is all I'm saying.
Sheeeit. Seriously I've said it before but I was never a gamergator, I just dig a shitload of digging after finding out about Zoe's lies thanks to her mother casting shade on her autobiography. The whole thing was a fucking trainwreck in my opinion and really shouldn't have happened, at least in the way it did. That being said there's so many absolutely bizarre and fascinating storylines that come out of it when you read through the history of it that are kinda incredible in their own way. Shit, I haven't even told you about how Hulk Hogan figures into all this yet. Or about the time that Brianna Wu's life was threatened by a
former-future marine armed with a BB gun. Who'd blamed Wu for crashing his car. A car which he'd been street-racing at the time. And by his car I mean his mother's Prius. This was also shortly after he'd sent one of friends to Israel to save 2pac.
