Naughty Dog has two teams. I'm pretty sure Valve has way more than that.
What does that matter?
Some sort of conspiracy, I imagine! Why isn't Globe and Mail's review in the OP?
I fully intend on buying the game tomorrow, however, I will say that some of information has irked me.
When you make an online only game without a traditional story mode, you are leaving the consumer expecting something in return for that cut content that they are used to getting. With Titanfall, I honestly expected them to put all their eggs into the online basket and make an incredible feature-rich online environment...
But from what I have seen so far in streams and reviews... that isnt the case.
Mainly, I was expecting customization options. I wanted to be able to pimp out my titan or pilot to my liking. There is nothing like that at all. It just seems like its the beta with more maps and guns.
Granted, I loved the beta and I will have tons of fun with the game... I just dont see where the benefits of cutting a single player mode went.
If it was supposed to be this rich multiplayer experience, where are my options?
I'm starting to think a lot of people are unaware and assuming it does have a single player campaign actually. Its not like they are putting on the front of the box big colorful text "multiplayer only".
Last week I was talking to some friends and they were a bit disappointed when I corrected them on that. I was surprised that they didn't know, they aren't really that out of the loop with gaming news.
What I heard is that it doesnt even have the "what if" scenarios that Brink had. The only real interesting idea that Brink had in the sp "campaign".I thought Brink handled the story poorly (though I appreciate the innovative effort) and was excited that Titanfall would be tackling the same style because I hoped they would do it right.
Not only is it not the same style, it's flat out not good apparently. Super lame.
Your post was comparing Valve and ND's output, which didn't make sense considering Valve has more dev teams.
Fifteen years ago I had no problem paying NZS100.00 for Quake 3. Weeks later I did the same thing for Unreal Tournament. I do not see a significant difference in paying 60 dollars US for Titanfall. Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament have proved that if the game is good enough, the consumers feel that it is worth it.
I find it somewhat odd that a game can't be worth $60 for the single omission of a single player. That was even a con in a review and I don't think that's fair at all.
Coop's also missing. Always have a blast with CoD coop and a bunch of friends.

Lol. I guess we can start throwing around that Destiny 360 runs better than the PS4 version too since it hasnt been shown at all.
But Destiny on PS4 looks great, where as Titanfall on the Bone....
Because a typical game that has a single player campaign and a fleshed out multiplayer experience is seen as having more value than one with only a fleshed out multiplayer experience. And, honestly, having both components on a game like this is expected. I can see it as being a con, and it's harder for me to pay $60 when a game has one component but not the other.
Some people just don't like not having their tastes catered to at all times. It is really puzzling to me that a game that the developers said is multiplayer only can lose points for not having a single player mode. And this isn't a first. Were Q3 and UT not worth it?
are all of these sites just mashing the PC and Xbone reviews together?
its funny that games will get slammed for a poor SP but great MP experience.
I think titanfall just decided not to sacrifice the MP for a sub par SP
I think a good choice was made, that said I expect TF 2 to have a campaign

Well, have you ever paid full price for a single player only game? I have and the lack of a multiplayer was never something that bothered me. Hell I have seen many people suggest they would have preferred Tomb Raider for example to have never had a multi to begin with. I'm curious if it turned out that way, would people who make the argument against titanfall suggest TR is not worth $60(for arguments sake the original release not the DE version).
did you play it on the X1? I think it looks fine. Better then Ghosts by far. I know that's not saying much but its not ugly by any means
Wow. Really? No. It won't.
Online game is being reviewed before the game is officially live for the public, I've seen this story with BF4

The Globe and Mail is a nationally distributed Canadian newspaper, based in Toronto and printed in six cities across the country. With a weekly readership of approximately 1 million,[3] it is Canada's largest-circulation national newspaper and second-largest daily newspaper after the Toronto Star. The Globe and Mail is regarded as Canada's "newspaper of record".
From wiki, probably not just "any website" as you put it.
Oh I see... so it's as worthless as a review from Yahoo.com. Got it. Why would they average that in. Newspaper reviews.... Ha!
If you are implying critics are being paid to hype Titanfall XO then show your proof. Show who and how much.
Every once in awhile, but like I said, it's harder for me to pay $60 for a game that has one component but not another. That said, I would probably be more comfortable paying full price for a single player-only game than a multiplayer-only game, because I don't always want to play a game with other people. That's personal preferance. Sometimes I just want to play a game by myself.
About Tomb Raider, I could've sworn that game had a pretty fleshed out multiplayer component.
I'd rather that than be forced to use a keyboard and mouse to be competitive.PC. Aliasing, low res textures, bad v sync issues, fps drops....
In that scenario TR wouldn't have been tied behind a server and be completely useless when the server isn't working or when devs decided too stop paying for it. So I wouldn't have mind.
