This game is like this generation's Sudeki

Sudeki! That's the name of the game I have been trying to remember lately...

For those who don't know, Sudeki was an exclusive for the original Xbox, back in 2004. It was a colorful and dumbed down JRPG. At the time, that was perfect for me, as I'd never played a JRPG before. I actually enjoyed it, lol.

Never heard of it before, is it backwards compatible?

Not on Xbox.

It's generic but fun - or at least it was for me 20 years ago, heh.

I suppose the lesson for me is that an otherwise-forgettable game can be memorable; it just depends on how it hits you at the time. Even if Avowed isn't shaping up to be a great RPG, I hope some people have fun with it.

I just woke up after dozing off while playing this shit. Not sure if it's old age catching up with me or if the game just lulled me to sleep. Either way, I hate when this happens, I feel like I lost precious game time. I need a drink. I was aimlessly wandering around, looking for fights and materials before I crashed. Upgrades are tedious, but once I finally gather enough, the difference is noticeable… at least when I’m actually awake.

Edit: Oh and my fucking wife is gone! Where the fuck she go? She was sitting on the sofa next to me before my balloon popped. I do remember her making fun of me when I walked off a ledge in one of the dose offs.

It’s really not a JRPG though. At all. For one it was made by Climax who was based in the UK. Also originally designed for the Dreamcast. It’s closer to something like Fable except you flip between different characters in the party at certain parts in the story or to reach items or areas you couldn’t reach before a la Metroid.

Dope game. Underrated. Where’s my Sorny remaster.

Is that right? I wonder where I got the idea that it was a dumbed-down JRPG? I was new to games back then, so I probably just assumed the colorful environments and cutesy characters meant it was a JRPG, heh.

Well, I enjoyed it, whatever the hell it was, lol.

That's depressing as hell to read. Jeez what has yet another once great developer devolved into? With wokeness we also always tend to get bad writing but also "accessibility" Which was the big buzzword of the last couple years. Things like pressing a button to pick a lock was probably thought to be a great "accessibility feature" by some hack devs at Obsidian.

I was trying to tell people here that this accessibility crap was a sham when I started to see Sony and other publishers make entire TRAILERS that revolved around it ...Ragnarok comes to mind. This shit affects game design in terrible ways. Number 1 is devs think removing any and all challenge/difficulty is what this means so they have Atreus telling Kratos how to solve puzzles and even where to go next in the level! Mario Wonder now has "badges" that are OP and negate all challenge. They've take away the Lives concept. Remove timers etc etc

Many games have gone extreme with this crap this generation and it has ruined a lot of games that would've been great otherwise.

Eh, not really?
I played plenty of games to completion without ending up thinking they were complete pieces of shit.

Conversely all it took was few hours with The Outer World to realize that it wasn't anywhere near as charming, "witty" or even just mechanically enjoyable enough to stick with it.
But it happens a lot with games like Skyrim etc. After 300 hours you start to notice the errors etc.

To me i will judge once i play it, i love PoE so i really need to play this one to check it out.

When the bottom of the YT barrel, despicable human being, racist, and cockroach king Asmon Papa exposes "games media/journalism"… you know just how nonexistent the integrity of these so-called professionals actually is.

Try swinging a sword in KCD 2.

You will be SHOCKED.

People fighting for their lives will not fight like this. Skyrim’s basic swordplay feels miles better.
hmm 🤔

Skyrim

KCD2

I'd say combat is not a strength for both games, lol. This just boggles my mind really... people criticize other games for being a little more cinematic, unfairly stating no gameplay and being critical of the new GOW combat, then the same people love gameplay as shown in these videos. I just don't get it.

Conclusion, you don't play games like Skyrim, KCD2 and Avowed for the combat gameplay. People who love these games love them for other gameplay systems the games offer. Avowed, from videos I have seen, and from what I have read, is a more refined version of the two games mentioned, but perhaps simplistic. But I don't see what is so "complicated" about the combat videos I viewed.

These games don't really interest me at all but you guys are arguing over combat that is basically serviceable.

The people he criticizes calls him names?

Surprised Nicolas Cage GIF

I've never heard anything racist from him and watch him pretty often now.

These days, calling someone a "racist" is like calling them a "sexist," or a homophobe, or a transphobe, or a Nazi. These words have been used as slurs so much over the past decade, they go in one ear and out the other. In my experience, it usually says more about the accuser than the accused.

Whats ironic is people like Asmongold point out things like the art director for Avowed being racist or the South of Midnight community manager being racist.
So the people that can't point out examples of others being racist are proving people are racists, but not the people with examples . . .

I might be a noob at Skyrim, but not that big a noob.

I absolutely play it for gameplay. Figured out a stealth archer + crafting build that was a lot of fun.

Some of these might help if you wanna try.

Avowed is very ripe for making builds. If anyone having issues with enjoying gameplay, getting a good build will help a lot.

Range/magic combat looks fun. I was speaking of sword/axe combat or even melee, which doesn't look fun at all, just simple/basic; even in these videos. I found videos where combat was improved via mods but it still looked kinda basic. Range or magic combat works and looks fun so not trying to take that away but I thought the conversation, was about sword gameplay.

EDIT
Nevermind, my bad. I guess I did not clarify or say in my post that I was talking about sword gameplay. The videos I shared focus on sword combat.

Yeah sword gameplay in Skyrim kinda sucks. One has to go magic, stealth, archery etc to make it fun.
