Help me out VitaGAF. I've decided to finally quit smoking and have two completely free days ahead of me. In order not to go completely nuts over the lack of nicotine I need a good distraction in form of an utterly gripping and captivating game. Something that won't let me put down my Vita for as long as humanly possible and turn my attention away from the obvious struggle. Almost all of my backlog is below and I don't want to buy anything new. The only things you can exclude are: Killzone, MGS3 and FF-X. I still have to finish the last one, but I'm in the endgame phase and don't really want to do it now. Oh, I've also finished P3P and P4G, otherwise there would be no dilemma.
I'd really like something that has either an excellent plot (preferable) or gameplay. I'm kinda leaning towards one of the PSP RPGs I've got there, but I don't really know which to pick.

Guacamelee, Don't Starve, Splunky and SteamWorld Dig are perfect games for you man :). Guacamelee is a ton of fun and will be a fun five hours (I think you might even beat the game on the first run if you do it fast :D). The rest are utter time sinks; each one has loads of content and/or fun addictive gameplay that makes you want to play it for hours. I know I beat SteamWorld Dig in just three/four days in five hour intivals XD! The rest have randomly generated worlds, so they will always have endless replay value :).

I'll add you guys once I get back home. If anyone wants to add me: AbstractChaos.

This happens.
Also, Zero it was my birthday last week! If you have any spare Steam stuff I'll gladly take it :p.
Happy belated birthday! Almost all of my Steam keys are leftover Humble Bundle stuff. PM me if you're interested. :)

So... odds of Minecraft stealth releasing on Wednesday? As they've stealth released both the PS versions now?
doubt it. Pretty sure the only reason that happened was because the xbone version was gonna release that Friday.

I also have New Little King's Story and FF VII-IX in my download list.
Oh, and a PSP with Crisis Core, Peace Walker and Ys: Seven stashed in one of the drawers.
I'd say go wither either Soul Sacrifice Delta, Crisis Core, or Peace Walker. All 3 have decent plots. Soul Sacrifices has the weakest plot of the 3 but it's enough to keep you going.
My #1 recommendation would be Danganronpa but you said you didn't want to spend money. Danganronpa will keep you glued to the Vita. You might want to reconsider :p

I forgot to cancel my Natural Doctrine and it just shipped. I read that RPGamer review a while ago, and it seemed to be up my alley, but then I also hear negative stuff about it here.

I was gonna wait and see how people reacted to the game, but oh well. I am going to be playing on easy from the start, I'll give you my impressions on that mode.

Media molecule during EGX said that Tearaway 2 on Vita is not to be excluded! :D

Yeah, through Remote Play and a port of a cheap companion iPhone game.

Dunno if old, but Tetsuya Nomura is working on(many?) projects other than Kingdom Hearts 3, i wonder if any of them is on Playstation consoles.

Nomura works on merchandise as well, you know. Him working on a variety of projects doesn't necessarily mean he's got his hand in 15 video games.

I hate myself so i am trying to unlock Clear Spheres in FFX HD tonight.

I really like the sphere grid in theory but the min maxing of it requires a bit too much grinding for my taste. I know it's not entirely required even for most postgame activities, but still. I saw Penance in the trophy list after beating the story and decided nah, I'm done.

Even then I'd still have to grind the gil to pay that SOB to kill almost all of the Dark Aeons and Original Creations in the Monster Arena. With my stats/gear I'd probably be lucky to kill Dark Valefor on my own and not too much more than that

As someone looking at that trophy list right now... How much would that cost?

My Platinum took 105 hours. I just watched some youtube Lets Plays of random crap while I grinded

You're going to need to grind One Eye (I think thats what its called) for equipment with empty slots and a stat sphere I can't remember. It'll take a while but you'll also get a ton of equipment you don't which you can sell

For the zanmato, you can either do the short-term grind (grind out lots of gil) or the long-term grind (actually increase Yojimbo's compatibility, preferable).

What I did was just run around provoking battles, paying 1024 each time. Eventually (~100-150 battles?) you'll see him do only group Wakizashis and Zanmato. Even auto-attacking with a group Wakizashi without any input.

When that happens you know that's the time to zanmato-spam. Lowest gil I've paid to have him to it against dark aeons is 1024 (I'm sure you can go lower).'

edit - my recollection and math may actually be incorrect in that 1024 being the lowest needed for a zanmato - there's actually a formula for it. The point is there's a sweet affordable probability-gil spot (say around 30% chance of executing a zanmato for 100k) once you've built up his internal compatibility enough

Huh, that's like...half or a third of what I would have expected. Still, I should finish more backlog games before I even think of doing even more postgame content in a JRPG I've beaten twice, even if it was 13 years apart

Wait I played this when I was 11? Jesus

Most of the grinding was just preparation to do the Don Tonberry AP trick :lol

For people that have Ps+ have you ever skipped out on redeeming a game, then a couple of months later want to play said game? I find that I do this way too often.

Anybody know if there is going to be an OT for Natural Doctrine? Or are we going to use Parakeet's import one? I'd love to share opinions with other folks tmrw :p

Despite being a sub since the early days of PS+ I somehow forgot to grab Lumines, which now results in me getting sad once a week thinking about how I could have free Lumines on my Vita right meow :(

Yep.

What if VitaTV would bring former unplayable PSP/PSX games, New apps (HBOgo, twitch) and multiple accounts to the Vita?!

Edit: it will also make it easier for people to stream Vita content or am I missing something?

Possible, but unlikely seeing as how Japan is a bigger Vita market and none of that happened for their launch.

It should, as I don't think they've blocked it with HDCP.
