don't know why you wouldn't. gameplay and concept is fundamentally different from the souls games.

Dark Souls CLEARLY came off as Demon's Souls 2. I don't get that sense from Bloodborne at all.

It's technically a new IP, but it's still more Souls than not. So I guess then it's officially time to stop calling these games ARPGs and refer to them as other games have been for a while now: "Souls Like"?
I don't understand how you're not seeing the Demon's Souls influence here though, and not just because someone else mentioned it in a review. It was CLEARLY easy to see from the first reveal.

Well that's doing pretty well. No sale for me because of the chromatic aberration, that effect rapidly makes me feel nauseous.

Its really pissing me off that my friend constantly complains that there are no quality games on PS4 aside from Minecraft and the new batman game coming out soon.

I tried convincing him to get helldivers but he laughed at me and said it looks like a generic top down shooter. So now I am trying to convince him to get Bloodborne as its going to be amazing and he just laughed at me and said he will stay with mincecraft because its a better quality game and BloodBorne looks terrible and "janky"

I called him a complete fucking moron and we are no longer talking. True story.

It's probably for the best :)

Bloodborne is essentially a spiritual successor. Destiny and Halo are vastly different, Bloodborne and Souls are not. Bloodborne is as much a not sequel as DeSouls was to DkSouls. Which is okay because that's what people want.

It does have some pretty major differences though, especially the no-shields thing and setting. Spiritual successor is right. I feel like Demons + Dark were more closely related but we're basically splitting hairs here.

This thread made me download bloodborne and I've never played a souls game before. I did however love both of From's Lost Kingdoms games on Gamecube.

I wonder how well this will sell. Souls has always seemed pretty niche, but for some reason there's a ton of hype... or maybe that's just on GAF/gaming sites. Maybe there's not much mainstream hype.

It's GAF and the gaming press, its still not a mainstream genre and the difficulty is high. I honestly wouldn't expect it to place in the top twenty in sales this year especially considering it's ps4 only.

Except the guns, faster gameplay, no dependence on shields, setting, etc.
That's like saying because Halo 2 had dual wielding, it isn't a Halo game.
I guarantee someone has said that
. Besides that, Bloodborne is an expansion upon Souls that's why I use Spiritual Successor. The Souls foundation is there in every way. Which is totally okay, because this game is going for the Souls audience. Because it is a Souls game. If this game hadn't gone Sony exclusive it probably would be called Blood Souls or something or rather.

i imagine this is Shu at the moment

I am indescribably happy. I'd advise you all NOT to go read Dan Stapleton's tweets about the game, too. Congrats GAF, enjoy this one :D

destructoid reviewer said he finished the game in 32 hours on his first play. that sounds pretty fast considering the souls games took me probably twice that long on my first plays.

Nothing wrong with 32 hours.

Just means more replays, new game pluses, speed runs, and whatnot.

You can finish souls games in less than 4 hours or you can finish them in 150. I doubt he explored everything bloodborne has to offer.

Really love hearing about the interconnected levels. It makes the sense of discovery so very rewarding. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Is the game seamless open world like Dark Souls ? Or more like Demon's Souls areas ?

Not that it matters...Pre-order was locked months ago lol

So I just went to pre order on best buy....

"We're sorry. Due to high demand this item is sold out and has been removed from your order"

This is for in-store pickup.

What the fuck

I had the same problem on Friday, so I ordered it shipped instead. It still hasn't shipped.

Tried in-store pickup again tonight for kicks, same problem.

More demand than expected maybe? Who knows.

I beat Dark Souls 2 for the first time in 34 hours so that sounds fine.

People complaining about a game being "only" 35 hours, when we live in a world were most games give you 6-7 hours..

Great scores, though honestly like there were ever any doubt :>
