Square Enix asks fans about if Persona 5/FF15 were out at same time, release hint?

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
I'd buy them both during the winter sale.

I hope someone from Square (ideally from FFXV team) actually taken a look at this thread and realized how Persona series had taken over the hearts of hardcore JRPG fans and do something about it.

They did do something about it. It's called A Realm Reborn and it's an open love letter to people who lost faith in the FF brand years ago.

If we compared Final Fantasy XIII to Persona 4, it would be about 7.5 million to maybe a bit over 1 million.

If we look at Japan in particular, as I noted early, it's not implausible we're comparing a 500K game to a 1 million to 1.5 million game, so you could see some amount of competition.

This is especially relevant for younger audiences who have very little tie to Final Fantasy, but have been receiving a lot of Persona products, and younger audiences make up a notably stronger portion in Japan than the West of the overall market.
It should also be noted that Persona 5 is a multi-platform release, able to appeal to the PS3 base. You're not going to have an easy time making straggling PS3 users consider a PS4, when a big release which they can play is coming out in the same timeframe. They still make up a significant chunk of the home console market in Japan in terms of software sales.

This survey is for JP anyway.

Keeping it real: if persona 5 releases in the summer it won't be a worldwide release anyway, so the west will have to wait.

FFXV most likely will get worldwide release, therefore I'll go with FFXV.

Even if released on the same day, I would 100% buy both, and play FFXV first.

Persona is great, but FF is my Star Wars, and I will always be there day one.

I don't get it. I was under the impression that they've known the release date internally for quite some time now.

You think? It feels like a game for people that love modern day FF. Most of the people that play it that I know aren't long time fans, but they act like all the fanservice is targeted at them.

I'd rather play the turn-based one

Making their favorite JRPG series into an MMO is a love letter to fans who lost faith in the series?

Really? It just continued to prove to me that S-E doesn't 'get' what longtime fans want. VII remake is an outlier at this point

I just CTRL+F'd every page with 'Persona' and almost spat out my drink - has GAF become weeaboo heaven?!

Persona 4 Golden is a legit 5/10, dungeon design is astrocious and the whole edgy anime character shtick is embarrassing. Okay, the UI is hard - but the rest? Y'all get blinded by your affection for 2D anime characters that are as flat as their character portraits. And now you want another one of those basura Social RPGs (can't believe I'm even typing this)?

Pass. Try again. Or better yet: don't.

FFXV originates from the brilliant mind of jeux-auteur Tetsuya Nomura and will not only sell boatloads of PS4s in Japan but start the age of cinematic RPGs paired with both hyperrealismé and masterful game design. Yes, the last demo was lowkey rough around the edges but that's because it's a game that demands everything from the consoles. I prefer avantgarde open-world action-RPG gameplay to linear, turn-based corridor moé bullshit at any time of the day.

Shame on all of you tbh

I'd buy both but I would play P5 first. I mean really. Both games will be good but Persona will likely be better. This is my personal thought process.

Will but both, would play ff15 first

I love me some persona, but I'm too much of an ocd freak for slinks so I'd wait for others to finish it and have 100% guides to jump in. That and ff15's action gameplay is more enjoyable to me then Persona's system (which I also love)

Yeah...

are they serious?

SE... c'mon.

I mean, we like you a lot but Persona 5 is just really nice and pretty and... I'm sorry.

Well even though almost everyone here (including myself) would buy P5 first, its clear that FF15 will dwarf P5 (and any other jRPG that launches close to it) in sales

Both day 1. Like others have said though, the Persona love around here is astounding. I thought it would be closer to a 50/50.

I was too late.

Both

Been waiting for FFXV since it was first announced as FFVSXIII, and I loved Persona 4 Golden, So I'm going to get both regardless of how close their release dates are to each other.
