just out of curiosity how much would a game like smtxfe sold on 3ds?
Who was actually burned by the 3DS launch? Companies that panicked and canceled titles? A 3DS successor would probably be the most popular platform outside of mobile. To the bolded that's not what I recall. He was talking about what systems they(SC) are developing for and he mentioned NX. But that doesn't even mean they'll be doing so in a third party capacity, they develop the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games. To the italicised the only case that's happened was Dragon Quest AFAIK. It was a one off occurence.
Also regardless of speculation as to what NX is and what that means for third party support I feel that even if it was a straight successor to the 3DS third parties wouldn't really be there on day one. They don't want to take the risk and 3DS launch burnt them bad.
The audience for a games based on Japanese idol pop culture is on PlayStation.Err you'll excuse me for saying this, but the Idol business is popular in Japan so why wouldn't that appeal to more Wii U owners or consumers for this game?
I'm saying it because it makes sense. What does Fire Emblem Fates have to do with this game anyway?People are still saying this? Lmao
Port Fire Emblem Fates to the Vita while you're at it as well. /s
That would of worked....if it was on the Vita.
So the wiiu goes out with a boom! Lets see it crater next week :/
Ah yes, you're right. Must have gotten a bit too excited there.
I agree with your second paragraph, but then again nothing will ever top this, not even a new home console announcement: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJXDOdFIs_0
Still, I maintain that Nintendo's biggest partners (Atlus, Namco, Square Enix, Level 5, Capcom) are working on NX games, or at the very least, ports of stuff that won't sell sustainably on PS4 alone. But whether we'll see many specialised exclusives is another matter. Platforms are converging and video games are becoming commoditised as every platform supports a lowest common denominator. 3DS really is the last of the old guard in that respect.

Next week is still holidays, you know.So the wiiu goes out with a boom! Lets see it crater next week :/
Oh I'm not saying it will be a Wii U situation but people expecting NX to have all the third party games need to chill, there's no evidence of that. I also don't think NX being included in multiplatform stuff is a done deal. Wii U could have easily been included in lots of releases and it didn't even happen at launch.
Launch was innaccurate but companies burnt by early 3DS:
Capcom: They threw everything at the 3DS and now it's just MonHun and Ace Attorney.
Square Enix: KH3D, Heroes of Ruin and Theathrythm all bombed and SE backed off from the platform for a long time(especially in the west).
Namco Bandai: Tales of the Abyss, Ace Combat, Ridge Racer and Tekken all bombed.
Tecmo Koei: Dead or Alive dimensions bombed.
Level 5: Layton 5 bombed at launch and 3DS killed Layton, Inazuma Eleven and Little Battler Xperience.
...and those are all the companies people expect to line up for NX!
Everything about FE was a clusterfuck. From the announcement, the release date, etc.
Time for us westerners to save yet another underapreciated gem!
Theatrhytm got a sequel on 3DS and neither DOA nor Tales of the Abyss bombed. The Tales Series and DOA series just did better on Sony hardware 3DS couldn't run those games (doa5 and most new tales of).
And Splatoon is already at 1,2 million including eShop sales. I always thought that some past predictions were crazy high (>1,5 million) especially when it seemed the game showed signs of slowing down, but I will have to give this one to Ryng_tolu. But please, enough with flooding the boards about your expectations for Splatoon![]()

At some point, this is just becoming your pessimism rewriting history. Like 3DS killed games that Hino/L5 killed themselves with overexposure/poor managing or planning and milking... what? Capcom's diminished support has little to do with the 3DS, but their own decision to go head first into mobile and fail at it, wasting an enormous amount of money.
Maybe blaming the 3DS for the Level 5 series is inaccurate, it's more accurate to say those series died on 3DS. Capcom absolutely did get burnt though; Resident Evil Revelations definitely underperformed which is why it got a console port and the 3DS didn't get the sequel (EDIT: and Ex Troopers definitely underperformed).

Revelations underperformed everywhere.
Revelations 2 didn't suddenly succeed without the 3DS.
You're trying to tie causation and correlation. I can go through your list and question a number (if not all) of points, or bring up complete counter examples for just about every developer. The 3DS has underperformed with some titles for some publishers, it has also met said publishers with successes. It is not some black-and-white binary fail/success reality.
Yet it outsold the console counterparts and EX Troopers bombed on the PS3 as well.
Maybe it's not the platform, maybe that's indicative of Capcom making unappealing games?
All of those companies will clearly be on the NX except maybe KT which I would assume is still pretty likely. Also, where are you getting the idea that SE backed off the 3DS for a while?
Ex Troopers was multiplat so I would assume that the game was just not appealing.
at least #FE sells more than Medarot 9. We can feel good about that, right?
I thought Capcom said they were happy with both the HD version of Revelations and Revelations 2 performance? I'm not denying they had successes either but they're going to be more cautious and not go all in at launch like they did with the 3DS(or now the PS4).
I don't see how in any definition of the word Revelations is unappealing. It still did over a million on consoles. Probably true about Ex Troopers though.
I think they'll be on there, just not to the extent people hope they will be. I wouldn't be surprised to see 3DS up-ports at launch.
DQM: Joker 3 is going to be the first mid-to-high budget 3DS game from Square Enix since Kingdom Hearts 3D and in the west they only published Theatrhythm Curtain Call after those bombs(with FF Explorers coming soon). On that note FF Explorers is going to bomb as well.
Bravely Default? DQVII? Also, way to move the goalpost.
Bravely's Default endgame kind of killed the series.

Wait, I thought this year last week will be the next one.Full year stats
How about that Splatoon dream though? ;-)No bump for Smash WiiU, that's shocking and also sad, you failed Sakurai Japan D:

Speaking of Smash.

PSP was up yoy in 2010 and Vita released next year. So not a first time but pretty rare.
A mod posted this? Holy shitUguu sales for Uguu game. Should have been on Vita. At least then they could have added 1000 year old dragon touching and sold a bit more.
I can't avoid the schadenfreude about #FE.
Too bad about Fire Emblem Cipher. I'll be picking it up when it hits stateside, as u hear it's actually a decent game.
There's a niche for those kind of games and this game selling poorly isn't going to change that.SMTxFE bombing is good if it means less JRPGs with underage idols with big boobs and stupid clothes.
