I think that his only other acting role this year is Justice League.

Saw Sing opening weekend (free T-Mobile tickets) then saw Moana last weekend.

I feel like this is the minority. But my family and I had a lot more fun with Sing than Moana.

It's not that Moana is worst than Sing. I just think that Sing is more comedic which appeal more to my family and I than Moana did with some of it heavy moments. I love both though, but Sing was certainly a nice surprise considering how much GAF been bashing it.

My mom want to see Sing again once it come out on Blu-ray and she's not the type of person who would see a movie again.

Boxoffice.com updated their long term forecast yesterday. They are expecting Kong: Skull island to flop domestically with a $40M opening and $100M total

Edit: the estimated budget for Kong is $190M

I can't believe A Monster Calls is doing this poorly. Like, did the studio just decide to actively sabotage it, not market it, or...?

I mean, I get that Schlock 5: the schlockening is more appealing for watching a dumb movie in Fuck You, It's January, but still.
Probably the same reason a really bad thing is 'beating' (2.0m fridays isn't exactly losing) Affleck's movie. Though I'll admit I saw the trailer and gained little interest in seeing it either.

You know what they should have released this January? X-Men: Age of Schlockclown.

btw, Sculli is already back, but Bobby isn't. Seems a bit eh... unfair. :\

Well, there goes the "predict the biggest flop" thread. Flip that magazine rack, y'all.
I'm not *that* surprised by it though.

It's a shame about A Monster Calls. Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. I loved some of the message behind it.

Sad to see Monster Calls doing so poorly. The book is beautiful and I've heard the film is very faithful. I need to go support it but work is a pain in my ass with this time off right now.

I'm not shocked... first it was due for release in like, July? Then October...then Christmas (except the trailers still said October, even in December), then Christmas was one of those "it's only in one theatre" releases, then with zero fanfare, it was out January 6 or something. And still only released in a limited capacity in my area so I'm sure it's the same elsewhere.

If I hadn't been following it, I would have had no idea.

It makes me sad because it's a beautiful movie, beautiful book, I wish it would have not been thrown out to die. :(

Affleck, bro. How you going to get clowned by the Bye-Bye Man and Monster Trucks?

Rogue One is heading for a drop over 70% this weekend in China. It is currently at $50M. It might not make it past $60M.

Alice 2 made $59M in China. Independence Day Resurgence made $75M. Now you See Me 2 made $97M.

Domestically, all of those films put together made less than half of Rogue One did.

Passengers ended up not bombing in China. It should finish the weekend with a decent, but not amazing $15-16M.

Hacksaw Ridge is wrapping up its run with $59M in China.

That Kong trailer was so depressing, especially coming off the horror vibes of the teaser.

I'm seriously hoping the new "It" is good. Just read the novel last fall and it's due for a fresh adaptation.

the cover ehm ... "design" screams generic though. The Curry one is scary (well, then) and straight to the point.

also, one of the production companies made The Boy...
and Poltergeist...
and other cheap crap.

and the combined budget for two parts (??) is 35 million. I expect little from it.

Wow! So Hidden Figures actually edged out Rogue One for No. 1. Nice

Box Office Mojo

I've told almost everyone I know about it (just like everyone I know who has seen the movie, lol). Should have some good word of mouth.

It looks like Moana's in for another big drop this weekend. It, Fantastic Beasts and Doctor Strange will all end up within $10M of each other domestically.

Sing will probably pass Moana by tomorrow. If not, then on Monday.

Okay so I get China really doesn't care for Star Wars but how is it going to get beaten by Independendys Day Resurgence? It's not like China could have seen/loved the original film.

Rogue One vs The Dark Knight has been an interesting race.

The Dark Knight was ahead almost every day of the first 9 days of each film's run, eventually reaching a maximum lead of $30M on Day 9 (X-Mas Eve for Rogue One).

Then the holidays kicked in, and Rogue One was massively ahead almost every day (except New Years Eve), until Day 19 (Jan 3rd for Rogue One). By that point, Rogue One had a maximum lead of $41M.

Since Jan 4th, The Dark Knight has won every single day, narrowing the gap to less than $29M as of yesterday.

Geez, Rogue One dropping hard last couple of weeks and making a wet fart in China. I didn't see that coming.

And not even Batman can escape Fuck You, It's January. :(

Saw a earlier showing of Underworld and fuck it is bad

Underworld has always been poor man's Resident Evil, which itself was poor man's... I dunno, something. At least RE movies are kinda fun. UW was only worth watching for Bill Nighy hamming it up and he ded.

Haven't seen Blood Wars, but Awakening was so bad I couldn't even finish it. An hour of Kate Beckinsale crying about her boring dead lover was more than I could handle.

The best kind of Underworld.

Too be fair it seems that most people like Affleck as Batman. Batman and Alfred were the highlights of BvS. That can only mean WB needs to cut the fat and just give us Batman films. I like it when Batman ignores Superman and acts like he doesn't exist.

Weird, I recall the trailer hype for Live By Night was off the charts.

Is there some kind of curse with prohibition-era America breeding bad films?

That's why Underworld 3 was the best movie in the franchise. Despite the fact it's a Prequel thus you knew the ending it had plenty of Bill Nighy hamming it up and the werewolf dude and knock off Beckinsale had a more ineresting dynamic the Kate character and Michael who you really wondering during the entire franchise why they're even together. Helps that Werewolf dude isn't as boring a plank of wood and knock off kate is a reasonable copy.

It isn't easy to predict how Rogue One will end in China as its release will go into the Chinese New Year period, which normally does not have foreign films (but its hard to say how many screens it will get). It also seems likely that it will get a second month, like they seem to do for many foreign films these days.

Hacksaw Ridge was extended for a second month. It has 3 more weeks or so.

What hype? The trailer was mocked mostly online.

Oh, man. So excited for this one. Batman gonna deliver again.

There are some pretty good shots in that trailer. Might be really good.

This man is like reaching Godtier status, looks incredible!

Watched 30 seconds. Closed the tab.

Sold.

Peaky Blinders with Americans and ben fucking affleck. What more can you want.

Wow, not that Affleck has boring cinematography in other films he's directed but this film looks GORGEOUS!

So excited for this one.

Affleck is a movie god at this point. I'll be there day 1.

etc.

That's disappointing. Moana deserves so much better.

Good to see Lala Land delivering what a great movie along with Hacksaw Ridge best movies of 2016 , shame trash like Rogue One or Suicide Squad made more money but whatever keep good movies coming out

I'm pretty sure those two last films don't belong in the same category, lol.
