god damn it you soft motherfuckers

i will never get to fight lagiacrus proper ever again

Man, The Lagiacrus fight in generations is fucking garbage. That thing is not meant to be fought on land. And fighting land only Plesioth after having a water version. Christ.

I want underwater back so bad. Made battles so dynamic.

I don't think this should be getting as much shit as it is right now. I doubt it will be as dumbed down as it looks, they just wanted to make the trailer look appealing to people who maybe aren't familiar to the franchise (not sure if it accomplished that or not). I'm excited and I hope it will be godlike, but if it isn't, I have a Switch. Even if it does turn out to be a shitter, I will still be glad Capcom gave putting the franchise on a non-nintendo device a shot.

In the exact same boat. Tried hard to get into the game with MH 3 Ultimate and just couldn't do it.

Really excited to give the franchise another spin with this entry as this looks way more appealing to me
As someone who played all 3 on 3ds, it looks incredible. Finally moving to a more organic way of fighting. Instead of just stupidly running around and bashing

4chan rumour regarding PS4' MH5 obviously turns out to be MHW. If you don't accept MHW is a mainline title, cool. But you cannot use 4chan rumor to say MHW is spinoff and mainline is coming to Switch, because rumour itself says opposite.
The rumour said that Capcom were panicking after the level of success of X in Japan and the West, and that was before the Switch turned out to be a huge hit. That rumour said that Capcom were hedging their bets, it seems like they've gone even further that way by calling this 'Monster Hunter World'. Guessing that rather than Portable they've just designated the Switch game to be 5 and this to be the spin-off now.

Only reason I can see it not being included is because they didn't have the time, and they have a short amount of time to finish and polish off what they've shown so far. With dual-sticks (and other buttons for action/camera inputs) and M/K on PC, there's no reason to not include a 3D environment.

XCX did it just fine with Skells, and that was in many ways mecha-MH at that point in the game.

The impression I'm getting from the gameplay video is that maps are zoned, but zone transitions are seamless. That dive into the water, the fall off the waterfall, and so on all looked like they just removed the loading screen from where there would normally be one.

I've wanted them to remove load screens for so long now. Thank god we're out of the PS2 zone.

Really curious to learn more about this and hope it is a spin off / nontraditional MH game. The Wii U version was my least favorite because it turns out this isn't a series I want to play solely on the TV in my living room (or spend the $$ to double dip on the 3DS version and deal with the save transfer system they had in place).

For me the best case scenario is if they changed things up a bunch with this one and also announced a more traditional mainline game on one of the portable platforms further down the road.

That's a shame, driving Lagiacrus back to it's underwater den only to swim in and finish the job was a real highlight of MH on Wii.

Yah definitely, I'mma miss that. :-(

I miss water in general. It damn sure wasn't perfect, but it did give us a lot of interesting battles.

Though fuuuuuck Plesioth. Ole laser-beamin jerk. -_-

Also, frankly I think the underwater battles played fine in Tri and 3U: HD. And there weren't even that many either. I think 5 or 6. Royal Ludroth, Gobul, Lagiacrus (Abyssal), Plesioth (Green), Caedeus and Dire Miralis. That's really not a huge deal.

I loved the variety. This shit needs to come back.

Heck, that would be awesome!

I'm sooooo excited for this game.

The running and bashing is what makes MH good though.

It's like saying you don't want a Devil May Cry game with all the slashing and jumping.

I find it wierd that they wouldn't just make one version for pc xbone PS4 and switch. From what I can see in the trailer nothing apart from the gfx says it couldn't be done on switch. Gfx can always be scaled and at points it looked rather rough.

As someone who has never enjoyed Monster Hunter, this looks fun.

The trailer could be deceptive given it's not pure gameplay. We really need a look at someone with an actual controller playing it. I don't assume you're dead set on buying the game purely on this one trailer of course. I just remember people who didn't really dig MonHun think styles/arts in Generations made the game something really different. It did not and it was obvious to the people who could look past the flashy lights beaming from the hunter arts. I suspect World is quite different though. It's hard to tell where someone like you fits in given your feelings for past games. The same goes for me and my love for past games.

I suspect the game series splits from here as rumor suggests. Monster Hunter 5 won't be Generations 3.0 of course but will look to lock in more on long time fans like me.

Switch wasn't even a thing when this began production. This is also being developed for home consoles in mind whereas Switch versions will feature local co-op and the traditional quest formula you've played since the dawn of time.

Eventually you may see features from this being implemented in the Switch versions if received well.

This game looks INCREDIBLE. I hope the PC release isn't too much later, because I desperately want to get back into Monster Hunter and this is just what I need.

Underwater exploration exists while underwater combat is gone.
This is the best scenario :D

What's the point? Part of the point of underwater is that it enables a third degree of freedom for combat vectors. Just swimming underwater is pointless.

It was hard for me to manage on the Wii, but I was also a child back then.

Something interesting: The T. rex's hands are covered in the same sort of material as its nose, so I think it might inflate them for a few attacks. The retractable sails on the back might be involved in a few attacks too.

Also its tail has some short spikes on the bottom, likely just to add some detail and add a bit of justification for its tail swing attacks.

Parts you can break would be the nose, tail cut, back, and maybe the hands.

i need to see weapons types because if they dont have my dual swords in here we gonna have a problem

Don;t worry, every weapon type is in the game. It remains to be seen if they'll play the same though. I can't go back to playing dual blades without archdemon mode.

XCX doesnt have underwater combat... what are you talking about?

Nah it does

Again where do people come up with these ideas that the switch is limited graphically, there's literally nothing intensive about what capcom showed.

I think the last MH on Nintendo consoles will be XX, that was a good run.

If capcom wants to go bankrupt sure. There's no way they're done making bank off japan.

japan cant drop a 4 million seller just like so.
