I just contacted Media Markt Germany on Facebook and specifically asked if I can expect to go into a store on the 19th without having preordered and still get a console. They replied with: "yes, it should be so"
Well, I guess this is what I will do then. I live right next to a huge Saturn. Lockdown is in place but stores are still open.

Just called my local Game and as I pre-ordered online to collect they will open for click and collect services on the launch day. I have been told having ID is essential or they will not give out the pre-order. Apparently an email explaining the situation and the steps we have to take is coming soon.

Well, Belgium is in lockdown since today. I have a series X (Mediamarkt) and a PS5 (bol.com) pre-ordered and they both confirmed that they should be delivered on releaseday. However, they will most likely be sent with Bpost, the Belgian post company. They are completely incompetent. Of the 3 packages I ordered these last 2 weeks, they managed to misplace 2. I'm so afraid that they will lose my xbox or ps5 as well...

Retailers do actually have stock reserved for release day shelf and release day online sales that can't be pre-ordered. So if you're were fast enough, you could actually get one without pre-ordering... If stores were still open, of course. I assume they'll shift that shelf stock to day one online orders instead.You will get a console without preordering it?

I only believe him as he's the one who told me about FF7 REMAKE when it came into the warehouse and said he'd heard they'd be sending them out early, which they eventually did.
Makes sense too seeing as GAME, Amazon and other shops have their stocks now.

The simpletons tore down the metal shades the second they started rising (like literally ran against them to crawl through, breaking them in the process). There were 100+ people trying to get one of 5-10 consoles.
Anyone who doesn‘t have a console locked for launch day via pre-ordering has to be very fast and durable to survive that mayhem come November 19th.

Shopto are excellent.
They were spot on for the PS4 launch back in the day and recently were sony official partners so can see them getting shipments reliably.

In Germany neither Media Markt or Saturn will have any console stock in there stores. There whole stock was sold online.
