I honestly cannot understand this viewpoint.

I live in the south, in the same city as 80,000 college students, 40,000 of those are women and 2/3s of those are 7s or above. We hire a lot of them as interns and they seem to be exactly like the women from when I went to the same university 10 years ago. They seem to be getting married all the time as well. I look at thier fiancées and husbands and they are just normal dudes.

Hell I am pretty much just an average dude and even I was able to snag a sorority girl who will be forever out of my league. She got a degree from the same university and makes a lot of money at her job. Since she is 6 years younger than me my wife is not too distant to current college aged women culturally either, and guess what? She is still an amazing mother, wife and best friend.

I honestly have to wonder if some men just give up too easily or maybe live in the wrong part of the country, because it doesn't seem the women have changed all that much in Texas.

I'm married, but I never stopped checking out dating and relationship advise (nothing in life is guaranteed) so I would like to share some wisdom I've learned.

I think a major key to finding a mate is being happy with just yourself. I think this supersedes anything else you could offer. If your happy with yourself, you won't feel the need to lead of with other stuff like money or material items. It helps with not coming off as desperate and will also make you more resilient to rejection. (You don't like me fine, I like me, and that's enough.)

Have standards and be able live up to them yourself.

Everyone has a target demographic, you just have to find what that is.

Put yourself out there. Pick up a yoga class, take a dance class, shit, even another collage class. If you want to catch a fish, you have to go where the fish swim.

Well, I agree with you. I am in a different situation than a lot of people. We each only work 3 days a week 12 hour shifts and have four days off together. We also have a five year old son with autism and a two year old daughter. Our children take up the majority of any free time we have and we do it together.

I have seen others in similar situations where the marriage/relationship didn't work out because one person couldn't deal with having a child with a disability. However, we are used to death, dying, misery, disabilities, gloom, behaviors etc and we rely on each other and understand each other.

I do work with a lot of women who are unhappy with their marriages but in the same sense when they are off of work they don't do anything together, one of them is with the "boys" at the bar and the other is hanging out with the "girls" in the club, and they even have kids together.

Marriage has lost its meaning. People either get married because they have kids together or get married too young or early in a relationship.

Everyone thinks they found "love" after a couple dates and things are going good, it's when issues occur or things are going as "planned" that people can't handle and can't deal with the stress. Most people aren't strong willed and want a perfect life. That's a fallacy, there is no perfect life. Too much social media and glamorizing what people see on the outside and not enough deep diving in their own self is what leads to miserable people with unrealistic expectations.
