That's not relevant to the point being made and it's another sidestep of the issue. If it's being sold as a wireless controller the expectation is that it's not going to die in the middle of play. It's not an issue for other controllers, so why is it fine from Sony?

I mean the battery on the Edge controller does suck bad, but the battery on the DS5 lasts me at least 6+ hours. It lasts even longer if I put it on the charger when I take breaks. Even if I was no-lifeing the whole day and charging it when I eat, it would last the whole day. If that wasn't enough, there is always this:

But I have 2 controllers so it is never an issue. Just giving options to people that can't afford two controllers on a $400 - $700 console.

Those first party premium controllers are junk. Save yourself some money and get a good controller with Hall effect sticks.

As XXL pointed out, OverHeat lives in Canada. "Miles" don't exist there. So what he is really saying is that he has to drive to the US border and then drive 60 "miles" from there to Best Buy.

Mine is working fine so far and I haven't had a ton of issues with it. I had an issue with my Xbox Elite controller where the RB button doesn't always register a press, requiring me to press it twice. Nothing is perfect and sometimes things do break.

I stopped using my 8bitdo because the wireless kept losing connectivity. Disappointing because I really liked it when it worked.

I have 5 different DualSense controllers that I rotate. I play my PS5 almost daily. One of these five I have had since the system launched in November 2020. None of these controllers have any stick drift. Either you have the absolute worst luck with controllers in the world, or you are abusing your controllers.

Incidentally, my anecdote and yours carry the same weight--incidental stories from randos on the internet. Why did you need to create an thread about the DualSense Edge being a POS because you got a defective one? Is my story of DualSenses that hold up super well also worthy of its own thread?

Do you understand the mechanics behind the joysticks in these controllers? They will eventually get drift. People that get drift early, probably have more play time. There is a piece inside the stick that gets traced by the stick rubbing across. It will eventually wear out.

I don't have drift yet, but mine makes a creaking noise when the left stck is moved and the push button doesn't always register. I played a game where a lot L3 was needed.

I have 3 DS and that one was used more than the others. I bought Hall effect sticks to replace.

So the solution to poor battery life is to spend £100. That's not a reasonable solution, that's throwing enough money at a problem that you notice the problem less.



How is the Vader 4 when it comes to compatibility with software like Steam? Is it recognised for what it is with full customisation? Failing that, does it have its own software that has decent customisation?

I use a DS4 with DS4Windows and occasionally also Steam for the strong customisation options. The last thing I want is to have to drop down to some bare minimum software, and there's usually not much online about how things like back buttons are picked up.

Vader 4 works perfectly with Steam, use it all the time for a variety of games. As for customization, I really haven't dug that far into it, but the software seems great. I only changed the color of the light on the front hah.

Got one for Xmas and it as stick drift…300$ CAD and not even perfect what the hell.

Mine barely holds a charge anymore. Sony really , really, needs to improve the internal batteries on all their controllers.

I know they don't all have the same features, but I remember the Wii U Pro being praised for a ridiculously long battery life. High double digits. Yet the PS controllers don't even hit 10.

That was one reason why I returned my Ultimate as well. I figured it would be nice to be able to sync it to my switch and my PC but I kept having to resync either the Bluetooth or the 2.4 connection.
