Threat Interactive has struck again. Apparently now targeting Digital Foundry for unsavory practices with monetization and how they make certain comments regarding the industry. The way Threat Interactive comments on DF's content. It is clear that the audience for this are likely game developers, which I am not. So as not to misrepresent Threat Interactive's positions, I ask that you review the video, vote and discuss your reasoning.

Is DF going to comment about it?

His info is good if you have the criteria (and knowledge) to not give everything as a fact but his need for attention is tiresome... It's a shame because there are not many channels like his

No need; I never subscribed to begin with 🤣.

I'm still gonna support the DF Retro series tho; John's the only part of DF that puts out good content.

They didn't comment about Alex getting caught in the anti-PS5 FUD Discord. They won't respond to this; too busy being late to new half-baked game analysis.

Not watched this yet, but going in I've been extremely critical of DF over the years, and think way more highly of NXGamer. I'm far from sold on TI's spiel, although I have to admit he does seem knowledgeable, so the jury's out.

My thoughts after the edit!

EDIT:

Ehhhh... I appreciate this kid's desire to keep things real even if it makes him unlikeable, and I'm more convinced that he believes what he's saying.

But I don't think he makes a particularly compelling case to disregard DF.

The problem with DF isn't just their tendency to play favourites, its that they are more interested in products than actual technology or artistry.
TI on the other hand seem overly dogmatic on their preferred solutions, and even if his assertions are fundamentally correct a lack of experience shipping product and the inevitable compromises that entails does weaken his position.

This guy is going off the rails

Barking at everyone and everything like a Chihuahua. He started ok and his videos were legit educational I would say (a bit dramatic though) but now he's unhinged.

He even attacks Northlight engine engineers from Remedy Entertainment. Bruh, you have 0, zero games under your belt, and you keep pointing to a $900k grift to support you to make a mod of UE5 settings and plugins lol. Sit down.

1. TI has zero experience in gamedev, and never actually developed a game
2. He wants 900k$ to hire Unreal devs to create a "fixed" Unreal Engine
3. All his videos are full of half truths to fool gullible people
4. Any longtime gamedev / Unreal engine dev (like myself) can see that this guy is full of shit
5. His channel is all about YT Rage farming for max profit

Conclusion: Stop giving this grifter exposure!

Are you talking about DF?

I'm not technical enough but my position is: We are focusing too much on power hungry technics that doesn't make the game look better. And DF is advocating for it with all there "look how great Ray Tracing is" and so on.

he was right about Alan Wake 2 in his previous vid and he is right here.

You're out of your fucking mind rofif

You're falling for a grift

Northlight engineers know what the fuck they are doing. They have more knowledge of releasing a game with good graphics in their pinky fingers than this douche's entire knowledge base.

Probably the most advanced culling and meshlet system to date and optimized even for Series S. Their work is still referenced by to this day by a ton of other devs exploring mesh geometry. Threat interactive has nothing to compare himself to them, nothing.

But for sure, a $900k UE5 mod is his magnum opus, just send him money.

Kind of agree with him tbh. Last DF video I watched was just "look what happens when I pan the camera. I don't know why it does it". 10,000's of ppl already knew MHW was a technical mess. They rarely deep dive into anything. It's all surface level rubbish and they don't seem to hold the devs to account, more "it should be patched out at some point. Wait for the patch"

It's funny to see that the original complaints about how much he hates Unreal Engine 5, which was the reason why he needed money to supposedly "fix" it, have now morphed into attacking other engines like Northlight and RE Engine. You mean to tell me that multiple engineers, who have actually shipped many successful games, who are working for separate companies in the US, Europe and Japan, and who have all independently decided to move in a similar direction... are all wrong?

LOL that's actually a good point.

Reply from Richard:

“Well, when you really break it down, there’s just not much in the way of true generational change here. Sure, there might be some minor tweaks under the hood, but in practical terms, the experience remains largely bespoke to what we’ve seen before. So, if you were expecting a radical departure—well, that’s simply not happening.”

Shitting on everyone, every engines, every graphic engineers from a great height but has zero output and nothing to show for it. Optimizing a demo is not the same as delivering a full fledged game.

Guy managed to piss off most of UE forum devs which is something when a lot of UE forum devs are pissed at Epic for certain aspects of the engine but almost collectively had enough of this clown and kicked him out.
