This will be fucking bonkers!
I'm back to painting after a almost a year break. Base coated my Repentia squad, gonna go one by one now to give them finishing touches.
Will try highlighting, dry brushing and edging as new techniques.
Question to you guys: what is the best paint for a base skin color for dark skinned minis? It took me using my wifes acrylic paint (not suited for mini's), lots of water and shades (with her help) to achieve what i posted. I can't replicate it, i need an off the shelf paint for future use.
Which brand has a nice base color for darker skin? Any of the big 3 (Citadel, Vallejo, AP)?
After finishing the Repentia's it's time for the Rhino and the Novitiae. Those are gonna have a sick color scheme

Finally got back to the invader one of my awesome team members got me. Haven't gotten to it in weeks but plan to get it done this weekend. Lots of clean up needed and some more colours / shading. I'd like to edge it and dry brush but I'm honestly terrible at it. Any tips?

Never did any base decorations.
I also found time to start on my Rhino. Base coated it brown before going orange+bronze. Honestly the color looks sick on it, maybe i'll start an IG squad in afrika korps colors.
Finished my Repentias. Tried shading the clothes, muscles and went crazy with the AP fresh/dried blood paint
Damn i missed it. No more breaks as long as the last one.

Spent some time last week building my Black Templars. Was a great box set with so many options. Was a bit crazy.
Primed them up and will paint them in the next while.
Been working on my sororitas too but they aren't as good as yours. I'll post some picks this weekend I think time permitting

Next stwp is to get a kolinsky brush for detailing and start painting in pieces before gluing them. A lot of badly painted spots make me go crazy.
Oh and anyone can say if there's a good replacement for Steel Legions stand ins? Currently not available through GW and even when they're online the prices are crazy...

Your stuff is really nice though wow! Way better than mine. Waaaaaaaay better.

For those in the UK, if you've not got a local Warhammer store or an independent stockist, I've just seen Hobby Craft now stock Warhammer, including minis, paints and other stuff. It's on their website so I assume it'll be in stores too. So if you have one of those close by, it might be easier than buying online for smaller orders.

Pushing on the idea of starting a small Steel Legion IG regiment i found the perfect proxies from Wargames Atlantic. Their Raumjäger infantry looks good enough and with a few bits and green stuff you can create a convincing squad. Also priced quite reasonably: ~35 bucks for 24 soldiers.
But i wanted to check the quality of their plastic so i ordered a single sprue of their Ratlings and Squats/Votann. Gotta say, it's a worthy proxy for a reasonable price
Gonna build snipers and sapper/engineers for OPR.
I wouldn't mind supporting GW, but the prices for any "special" type of models is just insane. And thst if they're even available...

I am pure hate. The fire that burns. The blade of vengance. The tide that turns.
Still need to learn how to use nuln oil correctly. It leaves smears on the hull in some spots.
Fresh Rust is a fine effect paint, has little blobs that after drying look like flocks of metal peeling off. Need some more skill in making realistic dripping stains.
More agrax earthshade on the tracks.
First vehicle almost done. Honestly i'd rather paint a whole squad. It's a bit tedious without an airbrush.

What did they end up costing you?Steel Legion proxies came by mail and i started kitbashing them with bits and pieces of my sob sprues.
Fine quality, recommended as cheap alternatives for an IG regiment.
My kids were "helping" me paint some space marines a few months ago and never finished their guys so I went back to finish them and it took a bunch of work. They had done it straight from the pot so it wasn't ideal lol. Turn out ok in the end. Rather happy with the sword.

35 bucks for 24 models. Great price. Currently filling the cut gaps with some miliput and they are ready for painting.What did they end up costing you?

They were pretty fickle in their interest. One was supposed to paint a bunch of my tyranids but they are still sitting there primed. I think I will just need to sit down and crank through them over the summer.

The adepticon reveals are pretty exciting for the most part!
The new Space Wolves look nice, although I couldn't be any less interested by them anyway. And seriously, Primaris Blood Claws? lol
New kill teams are really nice, we desperately needed a new one for the nids (although I'm a bit disappointed it's only Raveners, still look good), and I'm curious about how the servitors one will work.
New Chaos Marines stuff is... alright. I like the WE champion, the Nurgle one is whatever, the Tzeentchian constructs are an interesting concept.
New Nemesis baby carrier... I never hated the original one as much as some other people, so I'm glad to see actually it come back with new weapons.
And finally... Cathay for The Old World! They all look fantastic! Were all of these units in TWWH3?

Interesting. I've always put my guy on the base first, then base them. I can't ever get a solid and level attachment if I do t. How did you do it?

They are obscene. I just looked at the Be'lakor model and it's £100. A three figure sum for unassembled and unpainted plastic.
I love the lore of 40k, but I can't justify these insane prices on a plastic model. Crazy.

Wife and I were chatting about Easter weekend and we only have a couple things planned so I'm hoping to get a bunch of painting done this weekend on my Sororitas. I'll post them next week with any luck.
