Why are we always talking about Sony and Microsoft in the console war when Nintendo is the only clear winner?

Nintendo is a separate market, just look at the games and their catalog in general compared to Sony and Microsoft, which except for the exclusives are virtually identical.
 
Because amazing graphics will always have a place in Gaming. Nintendo isn't on the cutting edge, that is why it is usually discarded from most conversation.

The switch was huge but success aint garunteed we dont know how well the 2 will i have a feeling it aint gonna sell aswell

You can't say who the winner is until you establish rules and who is in the competition. Otherwise Steam, or Tencent with their mobile titles, or even just flat out Apple would be the winner.

The reality is that Nintendo left the hardware race and became its own thing. And by being its own thing, it is easy to justify owning a normal console AND a Nintendo handheld. And that is why they are not in competition.

The entire point of competition is when two pieces of hardware does almost the same things and thus you can't justify buying both. So they compete for territory. Nintendo by virtue of being a step behind in hardware performance, does not directly trigger that mentality.

PS4 > Wii U

PS4+PS5 > Switch

After seeing the Switch 2 reveal, Nintendo's still competing with PS4 tech rather then real competition. Pathetic. C Button for what, chat? Wow, what an incredible feature! Games priced at 90€ is a joke as well. And the chat's quality is like the quality we had on an iPhone 1. Screen isn't even OLED lol.

At this point I don't think Nintendo's even joking. I believe they're serious with this.

But what did we expect? The people responsible for this can't even wear fitting suits….

shouldn't we be comparing PS4 and PS5 combined then, and technically it should be compared against PS4 not PS5.

PS5 should be compared to Switch 2 and i hate to break it to everyone but the numbers aren't pretty on that front.
 
I don't care about console wars, I buy them all anyway. But hot DAMN the Switch 2 looks amazing. I can't believe it's actually a 120fps screen. And mouse controls actually seem awesome. The whole console just looks amazing, I genuinely can't wait.
 
Nintendo has not competed directly with Sony/Microsoft for decades now. During the bullshit acquisition wars, Jim Ryan testified that Playstation does not consider Nintendo a direct competitor.

Maybe because Nintendo's platform misses most of the main games released each year due to its poor horsepower and way worse 3rd party sales, and because Sony's console makes more revenue and sells more games than Nintedo.

That Switch 2 Direct was so bad that it single-handedly put XBOX back on the map. Now I'm actually curious about that ROG Ally portable XBOX. I mean if it's more powerful than the Switch 2, has access to Steam, and if MS can get devs to optimize games for it, there's really no need for a Switch 2 unless you're desperate to play the same Mario and Zelda rehashes.
