'A Quiet Place: Day One' Helmer Michael Sarnoski To Direct Adaptation Of Popular Video Game 'Death Stranding' For A24 And Kojima Productions

EXCLUSIVE: Even as he is deep in post-production on his next film Death of Robin Hood at A24, Michael Sarnoski and the studio are already eyeballing their next project together as sources tell Deadline Sarnoski will write and direct the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Hideo Kojima's genre-defying video game, Death Stranding, with A24 and Kojima Productions producing. Square Peg will also join as producer. The film will delve into the mysteries surrounding the "Death Stranding" – a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead, bringing forth nightmarish creatures into a fragmented world on the brink of collapse.

This is a solid choice.
Hopefully the movie isn't just walking

I dont see how a Death Stranding movie could being entertaining to be honest. I dont understand this obsession to make movies out of videogames. Most of them are awful anyway

Well they've mined comic book movies into the ground, so course try to exploit another.

Only a small portion of these are going to do anything.

This will be a wilder ride than the last season of Lost. It's going by to confuse the shit out of people.

Showing the struggles that Amazon delivery drivers have to face daily.

If done right, I can see it working very well for a movie. Playing through the game right now for the first time and have been thinking about that aspect.

Kojima should allow the Movie to open up a long standing mystery of the Death Stranding world.

It shouldn't be a major plot of the game but a sub-info like plot entirely dedicated to early days of Death Stranding, the bombing of the first city, the Mad Max like version of the first MULE territories or it could be literally be a loose adaptation of Cormic McCarthy's The Road, just one man chosen to travel in this world with a big FBI level secret related to the Death Stranding happening all around.

I haven't seen his Quiet Place movie, because I think that franchise sucks, but his debut Pig was a very, very good lo-fi Cage oddity so yeah, why not. He might do a good job and Aster is not a bad thing at all.

I am surprised that Kojima wouldn't want to direct it himself. I always thought he'd be down to make a movie.

If he did Day One, it was actually pretty good. And yeah Pig was weirdly enjoyable. Hopefully he does DS justice.

With Sony's help, Kojima is living his dream. He can do anything he wants, from making a style of game he wants, to concerts and now even movies.

I'm enjoying his Ds1 directors cut for ps5 version right now. It can be made into a movie.

Well maybe is how the second explosion start and what happen before that, not the DS 1 plot himself.
Edit: if is that case, the worst choice of director

I wonder who they'll get to play Sam and Cliff? It's really tough to find real life actors that can portray their video game counterparts well.
