Forbes: Breath of the Wild and Its DLC is $90 on Nintendo Switch 2

Was expecting it. First reply.

Another one.

Another one.

It's getting sad at this point.

You can't make this up.

What an asinine response. Expected thiough.

It keeps coming.

Ha!

It's too easy and not a surprise at this point. Sigh...

I stand by what I said. You obviously aren't a businessman if you expect prices to simply stay the same going on a half a century lol it was bound to increase somewhere along the way. Anyone that chooses gaming as a hobby knows that it is and never was and never will be a cheap hobby

All this backwards compatibility talk with switch 1, and enhanced version meanwhile I played the Wii U version! Breath of the wild is a respected Zelda game, classic service lore to hardcore Zelda fans at least story wise, the divine beasts were ok, not as good as traditional temples.

Can anyone name a single remaster that didn't include the DLC? Because I sure as hell can't. Persona 3 Reload you could argue but that was a complete remake from scratch, the DLC needed to be remade too. It wasn't a case of just not including something that had already been made years ago.

Basically every remaster/definitive edition includes the DLC but Nintendo gotta Nintendo.

And even then it's not even most expensive hobby, even building Lego is more expensive hobby than gaming.

Exactly, I mean sure I love a 60 dollar game or a 50 dollar game but we were due over the years I always sat and thought how does this pricing stay the same and it finally broke.

Like i sit and think about even phones and what not, I love my phones but we're talking 12 13 1400+ for phones these days and I don't see anywhere near the complaining like I do when I see gamers get fussed about a few hundred bucks for a console and a little price increase for games.

You can argue "more than full price for an 8 year old game," but no one is asking you to "pay more ... to play a game you already own."

If you already own Breath of the Wild, you can just insert the cartridge and play it on the Switch 2 with backwards compatibility. The $10 charge is for the visual upgrades and new features, not to play the game on new hardware.
And you don't see anything wrong with better resolution being pay walled? Knowing there is no new content added?

Persona 3 Reload also has a significant amount of Persona 3 content not included.

Like, a huge amount.

People complained near universally when CoD4 Remastered did this but the tendies are pulling unpaid overtime defending it. You love to see it.

Remake not a remaster though. The code for BOTW is already done. They don't need to remake the content for Switch 2.

BOTW Switch 2 Edition is a remaster without the DLC. Never happens.

I'm not a fan of the new pricing levels, but I will say that BoTW and ToTK are perhaps the only games that might actually meet the value.

Its easy to see the model of them charging for the work done to a game to be played on/as switch 2 but this also feels like a weird cross of the smart delivery kerfluffle.

They're getting reamed by corporations, thanking them, and then asking for more.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Gamers deserve nothing.

What's so ironic here is the same people attacking defenders are the same people who bought the HZD upgrade, and own multiple versions of TLOU.

I wonder how many of these fake outraged complaint about the same on PS5 or XS...
When did Sony/MS release a remaster that charged extra for the original games dlc?

DLC being included with remasters is basically universal in the industry.

There is new content added. Nintendo added a bunch of new quality of life features, including an achievement/stats system, the ability to use the Nintendo app as essentially Google Maps to navigate to in-game objectives, and some lore stuff. It's not substantial new content, but it is something. The graphical enhancements also go beyond just "better resolution."

Nintendo is offering free upgrade patches for multiple Switch games that improve their performance and add support for some Switch 2 features (like game sharing). The Switch 2 Editions are reserved for games with substantial graphical enhancements and/or new content.

And you would know all of this if you were actually interested in these games and not just looking to score points by drive-by posting on the internet.

Edit: Just realized that I mentioned "new features" in the post you replied to, so you aren't even misinformed, you're being disingenuous.

Who? Not AutumnLeaves AutumnLeaves

Not me. I bought HZD complete edition for 10 dollars and hated it so much I never bothered with the DLC or sequel. I also greatly disliked TLOU from a gameplay perspective and couldn't bring myself to play it again once remastered or remade.

So who?

Obviously, I'm talking about actual gameplay additions. Not iphone maps functionality or shitty achievements. Why tf would I want that lmao

We both know I'm talking about real content. Areas. Puzzles. Weapons. Cosmetics. What's the point of misrepresenting the argument? Are you a Nintendo rep or something? An ultra fanboy?

If that's your actual augment, would I be correct in assuming you think the resolution/framerate upgrades should be free and that stuff should be paid separately? That's fair, right?

Well, if Nintendo announced a remaster, they'd include the additional content as they've done with MK8, Xenoblade DE, Xenoblade X, SM3DW + BF, etc.

But they never said this was a remaster, you just made it up 🤷

The Switch 2 Edition with improved graphics is not a remaster?

Wow Nintendo are selling a not remaster of an old game for $10 more than it launched at 8 years ago.

If it's not a remaster wtf are you paying for? lmao.

Nintendo fanboys deserve, they're the filth of the earth.
Nintendo fanboys already own the game and most likely the dlc and most likely the expansion pass.. so they're getting this at no extra cost.

This game sold, what, like 30 million copies? The amount of people who will spend $90 for the complete experience in 2025 is so minuscule.

A visual upgrade patch with additional content, it's pretty clear, you just have to hear Nintendo own words and check what they said and what they're selling.

Are PS5 versions of PS4 games remasters? Why when you put the disk on PS5 or doesn't magically give you all the DLC you didn't buy? Would you complain the same way on the internet if it doesn't?

Rhetorical question BTW.

The real problem with Nintendo is that they don't do sales.

I don't give a shit about the industry or what everyone else is playing I buy games years later at deep discount. Hail Gaben.

That's not "obvious" at all, because that's not what your post said. I have no idea what you "want," nor do I care. You misrepresented what the upgrade offered and I corrected that.

You're welcome to believe whatever you want about the value proposition offered. Just don't be dishonest.

Ah, now we're name calling. Yes, it's not that I have a different perspective than you on a subjective topic; it's that Nintendo pays me $50/hour to post on NeoGaf. I'm living the fucking dream.

If that's your actual augment, would I be correct in assuming you think the resolution/framerate upgrades should be free and that stuff should be paid separately? That's fair, right?

My belief is that everyone should look at the value presented by each of these upgrade packs and decide for themselves if they're worth it.

Personally, I have the Switch Online Expansion Pack, which includes the BotW/TotK upgrades, so I'm going to download them and check them out.

If they are released 8 years later of course they are. This isn't a cross-gen release situation. You're being ridiculous and you know it.

BOTW Switch 2 Edition is a remaster.

Imagine if they released Dark Souls 3 on PS5 now for $70 and it didn't include the DLC. Would you go "it's ok because they didn't explicitly use the word remaster" I doubt it.

Sony announces a $100 digital version of the last of us today and this is the headline
That gives you two full games versus paying $90 for feature complete Breath of the Wild on Switch.
Seriously, what's the overlap of people bitching over TLOU yesterday and then going "this is fine, sweety"? Wouldn't surprise me if diffusionx diffusionx is one, honestly can't believe seeing you outing youself as a Nintendo shill, lmao.

It is kind of ridiculous that the game this old which they are selling for $70 as Switch 2 Edition doesn't even have DLC rolled-in. Nintendo is going full on Wolf of Wall Street here.

Holy shit, you are A-class at redirecting the convo and dodging questions lmao

I hope Nintendo is paying you well, because god damn you are worth it.

It's very much standard industry practice that when an older game gets remastered, the new version comes with everything available for the original, and offer the new sku at a lower price.

Imagine if EA charged for the mass effect DLC in the legendary edition

^Nintendo corporate bootlickers actual thought process.

Thank you.

Seriously though, if Nintendo were paying PR reps to scour the Internet for negative discourse, they wouldn't be getting rolled right now by clickbait journalists and keyboard activists who think a $10 differential in game prices is a human rights issue.

Yeah nothing better than Steam, the best games with some of the best sales too. Also the games that gave me the most replay value and fun.

Luckily I'm in no hurry to get a Nintendo Switch 2 anytime soon even if there's some games I wanna play for it. The last time I had a Nintendo console was during the Wii and that's only cause my uncle gave it to me cause he got a few of them from some Atlantic City gambling reward system. And last time I owned a PS was the PS3 and last time I owned a Xbox was the original Xbox.

I'm waiting till the Switch 2 gets more games I like before buying it mostly on the next AAA Zelda game in a few years. And Mario Kart World, The next Mario Party game, Metroid Prime 4 and hopefully another new Metroid game by then.

I was going to buy BoTW for the Switch 2 but since it's not any cheaper and also with no dlc included than I don't really need it especially because I don't really like the art style of it anyway. Prefer the Majora Mask, Ocarina of Time, or that one shot Wii U tech demo way more.

So do you think that price is justified, given that it's a rather old title by now?
For some old games like Kirby which also adding new content I don't mind the price and I already have copy so I'm just paying for the upgrade.
