Been a few weeks since I've done one of these.

Here's one to mark the Dota 2 beta hitting over 200,000 Concurrent Platers

Dota 2 is still on schedule to go open beta by the end of the year, right? I mean, the huge wave of invites recently has to be indicative of something...

I think it's now "scheduled" for early 2013? How many heroes are left?

I'm happy to see that CS:GO didn't drop after a month or so as some predicted it would.
It would be great if people were playing something else in Classic Competitive than Dust II all the time though.

Valve is definitely ramping up for open beta. Tutorial files have been streaming in. They have quite a bit of cosmetics to grab in the store, and down to 15 heroes. Things are closing in!

Dota 2 is a beast. Blew away concurent users for anything. TF2 going free to play was extremely successful and CS GO is slowly gaining traction. Well done Vale now give me a new DoD.

People still play Skyrim? I mean it's a big game and all, but don't you run out of things to do after 1+ year?

Edit: OMG, my ISP keeps injecting popup messages into my HTML stream about their ISP e-mail being down...I don't care! Stop already!

They said quite a while back that the beta would go open before all the heroes were implemented.

china only takes 0.5% of players atm and i'm pretty sure china took a big portion of the 567K viewers at the international 2

The general populace of China won't be getting Dota 2 through Steam.

CS:GO isn't gaining anything. It's holding at 20k players because it was 50% off during the autumn sale and during the Big Picture Mode week.

Not everyone buys games at release. I'd imagine a lot of people got Skyrim during the recent sales, it was a top seller.

Btw, I'm pleased to see people playing the Humble THQ games in decent numbers -- hopefully that results in more pre-orders for Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2.

Aren't they releasing DLC still?
Hmm, I suppose. Although it's still funny seeing it surpass more recently released single-player games.

I'm playing it again and have game since launch, its not really the same game with mods, especially ones like Requiem, ACE or SkyRe

My estimation of CS:GO dropping to around 14k was wrong. I admit it.

But you also have a point. I have to wonder how many times Valve has to put it on sale to keep it alive.

Well leagues have picked it up and the pro community likes it better than source and knows there is no future in 1.6 competitively so I think it will at least pass up source eventually.

So I've noticed Garry's Mod has increased in numbers, peaking at over 19k today. Is it because of the sale or was there a huge update?
