It's serviceable like the taste of a Big Mac. It's just shy of being a McChicken though. The hell? Cabin in the Woods is a great flick. Sure it leans more towards comedy in a lot of the scenes, but it's got serious ones as well and it definitely didn't have a happy ending.
a good one#25

So I had to dive down the rabbit hole with this one because I had never heard of it and thought that was some sort of eerie Jennifer Connely doppleganger. Turns out most of us may know this film as CREEPERS#27
★★★★☆ / Professor Xavier's school for girls
This is still about the only anime that actually feels like a real movie to me, as in something that could get a shot for shot live action adaptation and still work. Excellent film.#28

That's interesting. We only know it as here as Phenomena and I'm just leaning that it has another title elsewhere. Which is kind of the norm back in the day.So I had to dive down the rabbit hole with this one because I had never heard of it and thought that was some sort of eerie Jennifer Connely doppleganger. which I saw on the shelf a million times in video stores but don't think I've ever seen.
Wiki has this little story about the chimp in the film....IMAGINE being a kid actor having to deal with this!!!!!
The chimpanzee, Tanga, who had previously starred in Bingo Bongo,[13] proved difficult to direct, as Argento wanted to avoid its performance seeming comical.[11] During the film's climax, the hand wielding the straight razor hitting Daria Nicolodi was in fact Tanga's own, which managed to scar her despite the object being blunted. It then proceeded to attack Connelly and bit off part of one of her fingers.[14] In 2008, Connelly stated on Late Night with Conan O'Brien that Tanga continued to act aggressively toward her from that point on,[15] thus necessitating a body double for some scenes.[16] Further problems arose when Tanga escaped during an outdoor scene and did not return for three days until forest rangers attracted it with food.
BIT OFF A PART OF HER FINGER!!!!
The feeling is mutual. It's so mature and depressing and strong. This is still about the only anime that actually feels like a real movie to me, as in something that could get a shot for shot live action adaptation and still work. Excellent film.

Wait that gif above was a Jennifer Connelly double?! Always thought that was her, was 99% sure it was her.So I had to dive down the rabbit hole with this one because I had never heard of it and thought that was some sort of eerie Jennifer Connely doppleganger. Saw this movie in 2022 since I found out about Jennifer Connelly in 2022 from the majestic After Dark Career Opportunity video which sadly got deleted after gaining over 100 million views over a year ago. I guess the artist copy right striked it since it had more views than his own official video song lol. I also liked it more than Suspira as it's my favorite movie from Dario Argento. I'll probably go Phenomena > Suspira/Tenebrae > Deep Red. But still have to watch the other Dario Argento movies. That's interesting. We only know it as here as Phenomena and I'm just leaning that it has another title elsewhere. Which is kind of the norm back in the day.
Creepers sounds like a B grade film title though and that is certainly not what this is. I like this movie more than Suspiria, actually. And that does not need an alternative title for any audience. We all know what it is.
I was 10 years old when I first saw this on VHS and Connelly single-handedly is responsible for my biased love for brunettes to this day.
Also, does this movie make her a scream queen?

Oh snap, I just saw this on 35mm yesterday! It was so good, I had never heard of it before.#25

Thanks mate. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I'm kind of sad that it came to an end but like you said there's still the movie thread.
Congrats dude. I've really enjoyed seeing you short quips and animated gifs all month (and all year long in the main movie thread).
Cheers!
This is a hot take but it might be the best European horror flick.Oh snap, I just saw this on 35mm yesterday! It was so good, I had never heard of it before.
Had no idea Connelly made another one of those art house films. That's wild. I'll put it on the list.Saw this movie in 2022 since I found out about Jennifer Connelly in 2022 from the majestic After Dark Career Opportunity video which sadly got deleted after gaining over 100 million views over a year ago. I recommend Etoile, another movie by Jennifer Connelly that was released in 1988. It has elements from Suspira and Phenomena but it wasn't as good as those two. It's a italian/American hybrid movie like those two but wasn't made by Dario Argento.
I think it was Black Swan that takes cues from Perfect Blue. People talked about this a long time ago. This is still about the only anime that actually feels like a real movie to me, as in something that could get a shot for shot live action adaptation and still work. Excellent film.

Only thing I don't like about Phenomena is the music. Would have been so much better without the heavy metal and more Goblin.
Uh, but it was that era of "pretty boy looking pouty" casting that is REAL hard to go back to

I watched it recently as well, but the Rob Zombie sequel is a far better film in my opinion. This one leans too hard on the white trash psycho angle.I also went with a Halloween. But since have seen all of the sequels to the Carpenter movie, I watched the Rob Zombie remake for the first time. The uncut version.
It's kind of like the T2: Judgement Day of horror movies. Iconic moments everywhere. One of my faves. That bit where Freddy is down the alley with Tina and he has those long arms used to freak me out as a kid haha.
