Has anyone else noticed an extremely blurry image when VRR is activated after the new update?

My latest update on my 75" x900h is months and months old likely from summer lol. It's so stable and I am afraid to upgrade. Each one brings bugs. has the local diming bug been ironed out with this latest release? Is this latest release even relatively bug free? BTW I love this TV so much. Certain content just has me staring at it sometimes in awe. I only sit like 8 feet away too lmao

I am hearing that the VRR update disables local dimming on the 2020 televisions. That is not good but I guess they had to sacrifice something to get it to work.

It does and it is noticeable if you play with this set to high

8 feet is about 2.4 metres which for a 75 inch is not too too close imo.. Probably about the optimal distance for immersive cinema viewing and gaming.

I updated like a week ago through the TV, I am in the US. Local dimming is greyed out so I not bothering testing or using that unless that changes, but the menu seems to get lag more often, I kind of wish I waited. I do remember my Shield did the same after big Android update that eventually was fixed so I hope it gets worked out.

Any of ye get the VRR working?
I've a 2020 model and yes the option appears on the TV.
Nvidia recognises it as a G sync compatible monitor and I tried turning it on under display and turned vsync off but nope I'm getting screen tearing in games still.

If there are problems with the VRR update, then I am not updating. I'm happy with it as it is with the 4k 120hz update.

Canada here. Got the update, only thing I noticed was the menu is now a bit less responsive.
Oh, also, if I leave the TV on on hdmi 3 with no content playing (i.e. screensaver) for too long and then go to turn on the Playstation 5 it almost always has no audio whatsoever and requires a hard restart of the TV to get the audio back.

This TV now has issues with 23.976fps content resulting is frame skips. Think I will get rid of this and buy a LG B1 instead.

I would spend the extra and buy a C1, better gradient and near black handling which are the biggest issues on OLED. Perfect blacks are a bit pointless if the near black next to it is blocky and changing brightness every now and then.

The update just adds a 4th VRR option for your External Inputs so you dont have to use it if you dont want to. I am still using the Enhanced option.

Patch Notes for this update and VRR is not even listed so people are saying this is not the official VRR update that is supposed to come in December.

You do know other TV's that use the same mediatek chip have resolved this and others claim they will?
You do know that they had to add a second chip to the 2021 Sonys to fix this problem, right? Why would they need to do that if they could just fix it with a firmware update?

It's not getting fixed on the 2020 models.

Yes it is blurry but nothing matches how blurry it looks when you use VRR it reminds me of the first PS2 games that added a ton of blur to hide jaggies....

I regret immensely buying this TV......
I regret buying this also.
This TV has become a major let down though I haven't been able to test the new update yet on mine

I have seen a lot of people claim they were successful in getting this TV refunded even way outside the return period because promised features either not being there or just flat broken.

I plan on returning mine to Best Buy even after having it well over a year they have already told me they would refund my money think I am just going to grab the Samsung Q90A seems like a much better TV and on sale in most places.

No chip was added to the other TV makers TV's.

I don’t use 120hz mode, but I’ve read online that users have reported that the blurry issues are still present.
I see no blur playing Gears 5 120 MP via XSX.
I see a quality reduction playing Destiny 2 MP @120 MP on both PS5 and XSX but the game runs at lower resolution/settings in 120 mode.
Ori runs 120 and looks great.

Right there with you I don't see the blur either

Honestly I think its only certain games because Ori does look stellar on this TV at 4k 120

I havent tested the new VRR update though

The new VRR isn't the full release VRR I am hearing. It's Android 10 and 11 is needed to fully resolve certain issues.
I seen on the FB page that they added a Dolby Vision Game mode now.

"buy a x900h/xh90" they said. "it'll be good" they said. "don't buy an LG CX/1 cause they suck" they said.

My X900H is a temporary TV and will be relegated to above the fire place in a year or so. Going OLED next.
i know you say in a year or so but right now if you (or anyone else reading) can find a CX there's nothing wrong with picking one of them over a C1 if you can get a good price.

The C1 is a great TV but there is very little difference. mostly cosmetic/UI. i have both TV's and there are a few differences:

1. the C1 uses a newer OS version which is webOS 6.0. the CX uses webOS 5.0 which i much prefer. 6.0 isn't bad but has more ads and you need to make an LG account to download some apps. on webOS 5.0 making an account is optional you can download any app. for example, i have Spotify on my CX with no account but to download it on my C1 i need to make an account. some apps you don't need an account but that could be just the preinstalled ones. on webOS 5.0 when you press the home button only a row of apps appear at the bottom of the screen. when you do this on webOS 6.0 the app screen (and adverts) take up the entire screen.

2. the remote is different. the CX has a thicker/curved design and the C1 has a slim/boxy design.

3. the back of the TV panel has a different finish but you don't buy a TV to stare at the back of it.

4. obviously the C1 will get software updates for longer - not really an issue i'd think. the CX fully supports both PS5/XSX consoles. the CX can do 4K 120Hz Dolby Vision...which is overkill for these consoles. a CX will see you through this entire generation so i wouldn't worry about features not being supported. it has 20-120Hz VRR support and even LFC (low frame rate compensation) for <20FPS.

Of course, you could just wait for the LG C2 which likely will be out early 2022. Or if you really do wait a year the LG C3 will be around the corner :messenger_grinning: my point and TL;DR is anyone wanting an OLED you can't go wrong with a CX/C1. the C1 is a very minor update and the CX fully supports both current gen consoles. they are fantastic TVs. Once you go to OLED you will find it hard to go back to standard LED or even QLED. i bought the CX last year and bought the C1 for the living room because I hated using a standard LED. totally worth the price.

Are you getting paid by LG to mock people and advertise products in threads about Sony TVs?

I just don't want to spend the money especially considering my plasma Panasonic VT50 panel above the fireplace still looks great and runs great for 1080p content. I'll get an OLED later- they aren't going anywhere.

As for the X900h- its not a bad TV. I actually quite like it. Its too bad its handicapped by the chip inside of it because the overall picture quality for gaming is quite good. Running the 4k 120fps modes on Xbox and PS5 doesn't give me any noticable blur and is far sharper than the 120fps 1080p mode I was running previous to the update.

So Sony maybe delayed VRR on PS5 because of those models of TVs. After one year they got this shitty half-working HDMI 2.1 (half resolution 120hz mode, >48hz VRR, local dimming not working with VRR) and they got people saying they won't ever buy another TV by Sony.

They never should have promised HDMI 2.1 on those models. For this they deserve a big fat class action lawsuit for the TVs owners and the PS5 owners that still are waiting.

Now the question is, what kind of VRR we'll get on PS5? What kind of compromises are we going to get?

In statements made to FlatpanelsHD Sony warns that the first VRR firmware is not final: "VRR has not been officially released for BRAVIA TVs. You can choose the VRR mode in the TV menu, but you may experience bugs. For the smoothest experience, we recommend waiting until VRR is officially released on BRAVIA TVs later this year," said Sony. The first update will be pushed out between October 6 and 13, and the second update for VRR will arrive later this year.

At least that's what Vincent says. I wonder it this may affect the update for PS5.
