This is why PC gaming has a bad rap.

Ive tried everything and I cannot get that fucking prompt to go away. Jesus fucking christ....this shit is annoying.
I even have run as administrator checked.....
Make sure it's not marked as run as admin on both shortcut(s) and the .exe file. Here it doesn't prompt constantly.

SO this setup is pretty nice., but I still find myself having to leave Big Picture Mode far too often. I wonder if there are plugins for Steam that I can use.

1. Windows 10 will some times boot with Stereo sound when I prefer to use Dolby Atmos. I wish there was a way to hot key this or have it added to BPM. Anyone know?
2. Ubisoft Connect opens after Steam and I would like to make it so that it either opens up minimized or before Steam

Right now, I cant seem to have a perfect boot where I can start gaming without having to fix something.

I am not a fan of doing that, but since its strictly for gaming I felt I could take the risk. That app is just a mess with WIndows 10 or at least LTSC.

Me either, but like yours, this is a dedicated gaming machine. The goal is to be able to turn it on, game, turn it off, without obstructions.

I see this thread is still ongoing. Wish you the best of luck getting everything to work like you want it, OP. Apparently living room PC gaming is not quite as trivial as some GAFers like to shout from the rooftops all the time. Still crossing my fingers for a legit Linux option in a couple years.

I would still use Windows 11 for any high-end gaming setup. SteamOS has too many restrictions for now. Namely all non functioning technologies like FSR/DLSS, ray tracing etc...
Also the experience with other launchers like Ubisoft Connect, EA App, GoG etc... is still far, far superior on windows.

However, i'd find VERY interesting and extremely funny to set up one of these new powerful apu like Ryzen HX 370 Mini-PC with Bazzite. I love the low power concept & portability.
However for now it's nowhere to be found here and price is crazy like 1200+€.

Right now I have Windows 10 as my gaming OS and its pretty good, and Windows 11 debloated from Chris Titus as my work OS. I might make Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC my gaming OS and have WIndows 10 serve as my work OS. WIndows 11 has better HDR options and I am too familiar with how it runs.

Plus I am annoyed at all these weird quirks. Specifically the Ubisoft Connect app, things not starting on startup. The Xbox app is set to start at startup, but it doesn't and I have to manually start it.

I also can't figure out how to make Steam be the last thing that loads as Big Picture mode and when I boot it now forces the Ubisoft Connect overlay over Steam and I have to pick up the keyboard to get rid of it.

I don't know if Windows 11 will fix it, but I may give it a try

This is STRONGLY disagree with. I absolutely LOVE the way SteamOS/bazzite handles these launchers. The game loads, I may have to log in once and be done with it on SteamOS bazzite, its mostly an invisible process. It doesn't get in the way in the slightest/

Right now, on the otherhand, Ubisoft Connect has been a fucking NIGHTMARE for me in my Windows 10 gaming OS. When I first installed it, every fucking time it loaded I kept getting that annoying UAC prompt asking me to allow it to make changes. I set it to run with admin priveleges. Still got that prompt. Nothing would make it go away except for turning UAC off. No amount of uninstalls, reinstalls using Revo would fix it. Now, it has this annoying problem of opening over Big Picture Mode when I boot the system. Ubisoft Connect is literally making my blood boil as it is ruining a near perfect experience of having SteamOS on windows.

This is the one.

Alternatively you can use BigBox (which is launchbox's premium version which includes a controller interface) and then import all you steam games.

That way you can easily have games from anywhere (including emulation) all in one easy to navigate interface.

This is currently my favourite all in one interface because of the box art feature and how beautiful it looks in general.

Dumb question, but I would still be able to earn Steam/uplay/EA/Gog/EPic achievements using Playnite. I would assume that basically Playnite just launches the launchers and then the game itself.

I'm not sure regarding Playnite because I've never used it, bit I do know that the achievements pass through to the BigBox interface.

But yes, all of these launchers ultimately end up launching the games via the place you purchased them.

Is Launchbox premium worth it? It seems like an expensive option.

Use Windows 11 and go with Playnite as your front end. Playnite requires some tinkering but is an INCREDIBLE console UI experience once you get it configured.

Be more specific. I did adjust the size of the icons in BPM. I like mine smaller than default.
In Windows 10/11, go to Display settings -> Scale and Layout -> Scale -> Try making it at %100

This will shrink all the icons etc to quasi-microscopic size because 4k, but from what I'm gathering, you're doing this for TV gaming and don't really plan to fiddle with them anyways.

I'd say try out the free version and see if you like it enough first.

If you're not going to bother with emulation and linking up retroachievements then I'd say maybe just try both that and Playnite to see which you prefer.

Correct!

There's also an add-in for Playnite called SuccessStory, that allows you to view/track all of your achievements for your games on all of the major platforms right from the Playnite UI. Makes it really streamlined.

Last question, should I disable all other launchers at startup and just let Playnite lauch them on their own?

Either works, but I personally like to allow my launchers to open at startup and run in the background, only because it allows the games to open/load faster.
Thats what is annoying the piss out of me right now. Ubisoft Connect opens on top of Big Picture Mode. I figured it should be pretty easy to simply adjust the app order, but Windows apparently doesnt allow it. So I have to grab my keyboard to minimize it. Fucking annoying that there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it.

If someone knows how, please tell me.

Ubisoft Connect is one of the few launchers I don’t allow to open at start up because it is complete trash. I actually actively avoid buying Ubisoft games specifically because of that terrible launcher.
