The shock announcement — which is sure to shake and, indeed, stir the industry — was made Thursday, alongside the news that long-time producers and custodians of 007, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, would be stepping back.
As per details of the arrangement, Amazon MGM Studios, Wilson and Broccoli have formed a new joint venture to house the James Bond intellectual property rights. The three parties will remain co-owners of the iconic franchise but Amazon MGM will have creative control.

“Since his theatrical introduction over 60 years ago, James Bond has been one of the most iconic characters in filmed entertainment,” said Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios.

Broccoli commented, “My life has been dedicated to maintaining and building upon the extraordinary legacy that was handed to Michael and me by our father, producer Cubby Broccoli. I have had the honor of working closely with four of the tremendously talented actors who have played 007 and thousands of wonderful artists within the industry. With the conclusion of ‘No Time to Die’ and Michael retiring from the films, I feel it is time to focus on my other projects.”

Can't wait for James Bond to be trans queer woman and shit only on men.
Actually its not even gonna be James anymore because its offensive and representative of toxic masculinity and patriarchy.

Terrible news. I have a feeling that the movies will be a lot less creative now and they will make spin-off tv shows.

If there is one positive thing about this its the fact that I think Amazon is more likely to give Nolan full creative control if he ever makes a Bond movie.

It's funny how the reaction to this news is near universal. Everyone knows that Amazon being in charge of this is going to be the death knell of this franchise which I guess is the point.

Barbara Broccoli was worried about Amazon's plans to turn Bond into into a quick profit spinoff-heavy universe, and probably rightly so. We saw the exact same thing happen with Star Wars. Nobody cares about it anymore. From what she's said in interviews, Amazon just doesn't 'get it' and sees it only as an IP to be mined.

If Amazon do follow through with their plans, then they'll be diminishing a multi-generational, globally renowned IP spanning six decades to boost subscription incentive. The 'event' factor of Bond is still palpable, because it's been around for so long. Getting the Star Wars treatment will surely rob it of that.

Ah fuck, its over, used to love it when a new bond came out, now its going to be going straight to amazon and probably a series and likely utter trash like rings of power.

Just the movies or the entire IP, like is IOI not going to make next James Bond game. Are they owned by Amazon ?

This won't affect the IO interactive game. After that who knows, but they won't mess with an in-development game. I'm pretty sure Amazon is only worried about film/TV

MGM does Stathom movies, The Accountant 2… did the Roadhouse movie.

They aren’t great films by any means but they also aren’t all “woke” like people are assuming. Either are all of their TV shows. I mean they have Nolan’s brother making stuff.

And you had the same thought as me.. they may save the girlboss stuff for a streaming series, but mainline Bond films will continue to be… Bond films.

That’s what makes the most sense to me.
