MGM claims to own one of the world’s “deepest libraries” of premium film and TV content.

Its 4,000 film titles include the James Bond, Hobbit, Rocky/Creed, RoboCop and Pink Panther franchises, as well as “The Silence of the Lambs,” “The Magnificent Seven” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” The MGM TV library includes approximately 17,000 episodes of programming, including “Stargate SG-1,” “Stargate Atlantis,” “Stargate Universe,” “Vikings,” “Fargo,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Get Shorty,” “Condor,” “Fame,” “American Gladiators,” “Teen Wolf” and “In the Heat of the Night.” Unscripted shows in its portfolio include “The Voice,” “Survivor,” “Shark Tank,” “”The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “The Hills.”

Huh I wonder if Amazon wants a Stargate reboot as one of their big sci-fi series, after the Expanse finishes?

Does this give them Bond? Even under Sony I thought EON still had to credit MGM?

Rocky, Stargate, and Robocop kind of make it worth it?

Lots of M&A (mostly consolidation) around media companies at the moment. Discovery and AT&T partnered up earlier today as well.

So-so library, just like Sony pictures. Still, would be pretty big for Amazon...
Not that I want to encourage them to run some of my favorite series into the ground but some kind of Robocop or Creed/Rocky series could be dope with good production values and writing. + 007 distro rights.

Amazon needs to be broken up.
Quoting this for truth. The only thing this serve is Amazon, who needs content exclusive to its Prime Video service so that people have one more reason to keep the subscription alive. I would rather MGM offer their content across multiple services rather than being owned by Amazon.

Frankly, Amazon is a little too much. Amazon the store. Amazon the cloud. Amazon the content provider and streamer. Amazon the audio service. Soon to be Amazon the shipping provider. Etc. etc.

I'd like a new stargate tv show as well but not like the one in space please. Either regular stargate or like stargate atlantis. I thought stargate was making a comeback anyways. Like it was suppose to be about a woman who found the stargate or something or maybe it was the daughter of the man who found the stargate.

A robocop reboot sounds nice but that last reboot was not so good.

Disney+ rise alarmed all the established streaming players because it showed that the famous IPs are very important and just new IPs is not enough to grow consistently.

Holy shit, you had me, OP. I thought you meant MGM Resorts. I was like WTF does Amazon want with casinos?

The original MGM, though, yeah. I wouldn't mind a reboot of Stargate.
