AMD living up to its promise of aggressively targeting the affordable midrange. Flagship GPU that undercuts the RTX 5070 in price.

Feels like the 2010’s again!

Sad times when your flagship card is only mid range at best...

How? It outperforms a 4080 Super in synthetics:

… for less than half the price….

This is an amazing offering.

Oh so those are official and why does it say 7800xt?

Can they afford to do a card cheap since their gaming division is only running on a 2% operating margin?

if it performs as well as a 4080 Super, for half the price, that is a great deal, because without frame gen I'm not sure the 5080 is that much better than the 4080S yet. This might actually putreal price pressure on Nvidia for the first time in what, 10 years? If only...

I love to see it. That's good aggressive pricing.

I'm going 5090 due to the AI capabilities, as well as the gaming, so it's nice to see someone take it to Nvidia and provide competition.

Hoping they capture a nice chunk of the audience as well as will bode well for pricing on the next gen in a couple of years for all

.... i would prefer 400 but beggars can't be choosers.

Although even with their improvements, I'm probably gonna go Nvidia for the next GPU. I don't want to spend 750, but 5070ti looks like the best card on the market at the moment

Me with a 4090 and maybe a 5090 (soon) praises this. If they come out swinging next gen with a high end offering or just worry about the modest mid range segment, it can be a win for everyone. nvidia is already adjusting its pricing from the last gen on the new 5xxx series. The 5090 is the outlier as its above everything by a bit.

I didn't read all the hype about this. The price makes it very appealing. Have they improved the Ray Tracing capabilities on the Radeon cards? I got to say games like Cyberpunk look like eye sex with the ray tracing on.

9070 XT for $480 and 9070 for?? $400?

These would be insane deals, but it’s hard to believe when the PS5 Pro sells for $700.

That 9070 base w 16gb, good upscaling, rt sufficient for the games coming that require it (tend to be on the lighter side), for $400... If they can do that it's on like donkey kong.

Do it and make me cry about the 6800 I bought last year for $350. Make me feel like a sucker! DO IT.

Too expensive if its on par with 5070. If it performs like a 5070ti solid price.

AMD always plays this stupid little game where they price their stuff like 10% to 20% less than Nvidia's comparable performing hardware.

From there it doesn't sell that well, after a bit they lower the price to try and get people to buy, it still doesn't sell because people already bought Nvidia, etc.

I dont give a fuck about RT.. at this price ... I might jump back to pc after all this years... its time to build a new machine
RT and FSR seemed to have also been improved quite a bit. It’s going ti be super interesting to see real reviews come end of Jan.

And yeah, if this thing is close to a 4080S/5070Ti for $500, it’s a no brainer.

$500 + 20% VAT is $600, yes. Once again, US prices don’t include taxes.

As to $=€, it’s very close now days.
That's bs, everything else is 1:1, I guess the PS5 should've launched at 600 euros then, cept it was 499 "VAT included", as has always been the case. 🙄
And even if you want to go that nonsense route, rumour says 480, which would translate to 562 "+vat", not 6/700, which is what it's going to be.

We have not seen any prices. All I am saying if a card is advertised at $500 in US, EU $600 price makes sense.

What Sony did or didn’t to subsidize the console in Europe is irrelevant to a GPU manufacturer selling hardware without any subs or a cut on software sales.

Has nothing to do with "subsidise", the prices were always very close, heck AMD's own shop sold things reasonably, it's only been since covid that prices have gone insane because of greedy distributors and ultimately shops trying to get maximum profit thanks to scalper behaviour, the end result is far above msrp and has fuck all to do with "VAT".

Ok, from a logical perspective, how can the price in US and say France be same when $ is very close to € and there is 20% VAT?

It makes 0 sense.
