An Italian court has ordered that a 13-year-old boy must attend ”youth community" for 12 hours daily after he was deemed too ”effeminate" ( unmanly).

The court ruled that the teen must stay away from his mother between the times of 7am – 7pm because he ”flaunts his effeminacy in a provocative way".

The report said that the boys relationship to his mother was like an ”addiction", stemming from ”deep relational problems and psychological distress".

The case was built after the boy accused his father of sexually abusing him. The charges against his father were dropped (even though the court didn't doubt the boy).

The ruling came after social services ( who his dad contacted) in the country gave a testimony that the young boy had a ”personality disorder" which causes him to be ”aggressive, provocative, rude and tends to be eccentric... he tends to say in every way that he is different and flaunts effeminacy in a provocative way."

The report allegedly suggests that ”the boy might grow up to be gay".

I don't know what to say to this...

I'm italian and i've been following the story. It's not so cut and dry as written in the first post.

The court ruled that the kid, victim of domestic abuse from the father who then started to live with her mother only suffered from psychic disorders. So he gets sent to a social community (basically a place where social services can assist people in need) from 7 am to 7 pm. Here social assistants see the guy having an aggressive behaviours toward others, ill- manners toward others and dressing feminine while acting in provoking manners towards all the others socially assisted people and the adults woking there.

At that point the social services realize that problems at home are probably the culprit of all this and ask the Court For Underage People ( dunno the proper term) to act in the kid's interest and the court decides to temporary remove the kid from the mother's custody.

The mother decides to go to court and here we are with her lawyer going around saying the kid was removed from the mother for being too feminine.

...How about homophobes can get fucked because gay people are totally normal and awesome, because hatred for them is about insecurity over competition like every form of systemic, constructed oppression between humanity?

Because that's what I'm saying.

Wha..

Wait a se...

... What the hell?

Seriously, what happened here?
From the extract of the OP, it seems like the boy was abused by the father, which lead to him developing a peculiar attachment to the mother? How does this judgement help this boy??

I'm real happy my parents moved from Italy to Canada before having me. I was the gay Italian kid who liked getting my nails painted.

This is fucked tbh :S

Either this was a freak occurence where literally the worst people in the Italian social services encountered the worst Italian judge of all time, or there's a deep seated homophobia in their entire society.

This is what the court had to say about this:

"We don't distance a kid from his family because he has an effeminate behaviour. We don't discriminate based on sexual tendencies or sexual nature. Our interest is about the kid's complessive behaviour and if he's facing difficulties or not."

Alright see this makes a bit more sense to me.

What a mind fuck. What the bloody hell is this bullshit? Fuck that judge.

Edit: that update a few posts up seems like it would make this make a little more sense.

I didn't realise things had gotten this bad in Italy to have a court come down on a juvenile for not adhering to strict binary gender stereotypes, along with a big helping of homophobia too. This is truly shocking. Let the kid express himself ffs.

edit: Yeah, sounds like there's more to this then, but the language surrounding this is disturbing. Will have to wait for more details.

There's almost definitely a lot more to this story. I think it's irresponsible to assume the parents' side as fact here. The court is to act in the child's best interests, which may be attending a therapeutic environment rather than with their parents. Courts very rarely decide to remove a child from their parents.

Cheers, i read about it casually on FB but never got into it, seems like the correct course of action

Only a bit more. Still find it weird the mum is being blamed. When his dad gets cleared for being a abuser just because of lack of evidence.

Isn't that, you know, the reason to clear someone? Innocent until proven guilty?

Why would you charge someone when you didn't have evidence?
