Well...you could also say MU was allowed to succeed on big screen also because Superman's movies with Christopher Reeven took that first step, then Batman cemented it and then stuff like X-Men, Blade and Batman Begins took it even further. It's always gradual climb and building on foundations of older successes, but this doesn't mean mean one can't give credit to specific properties that allowed it to make big leaps upward.

everything is good but get Helena off that list, she was Huntress in name only.
Freaking awful.
(Unless they put her on the Suicide Squad in S3 which would be interesting)

I'm probably the only that one tha thinks that budget aside, the tv format works better for superheroes than the movie format.

Take Arrow for instance the flashbacks are a big deal of the show, two seasons in and we are stil having flashbacks, there's this cool 'Lost' level of intrigue and mystery in them. In a movie this isn't possible, since filmmakers can't spend so much time on flashbacks.

Obviously having so many hours only helps to develop the characters. Their journey is more nuanced and carefully plotted. Ollie's transition from being killer to a hero was awesome, and the introduction of superpowers in Arrowverse was done masterfully as it didn't feel rushed, it was completely natural and the logical next step for this universe.

Imagine a Batman tv show, you can have your season long villain like Joker, or Rhas and also have episodes dedicated to lesser villains Zsasz or Blackmask, like Arrow does. A tv show would also finally show Batman detective side which movies barely show if at all.

WB should scrap the Ben Affleck Batman movie, and just go with a TV show on HBO that's part of the DCCU with Ben Affleck directing.

Long form storytelling on TV is extremely well suited for comic book adaptations, like you said. But, as you said as well, budget is the biggest hinderance.

I think being in the long form is why the showrunners are doing so well while their Green Lantern film sucked. I haven't read the original script which was supposedly better, but I think they are somewhat freed by having so many hours to tell the story on TV.

You know, they kind of actually didn't? To get the timeline in place, they needed to jump 5 years after a 10 season run to Clark there (there is no 20-something Superman). Smallville's big issue was how they paced it and what they could and could not use.

Smallville had HUGE restrictions on what they could or could not do that DC has not applied to Arrow, for whatever reason. Also, it had shitty showrunners for the first 7 seasons.

No I agree,
Now you do need a good budget for the batsuit and a batmobile though.
(though they could borrow an old Batmobile from WB and film multiple episode worth of scenes with it)

Arrow but Batman based would probably be the best comic adaptation outside of maybe BTAS.
It just has so much time and effort to deal with villains, sidekicks, love interests, etc that movies don't have.

I think technology wise we are getting close to having at least respectable CGI on tv shows. The Flash pilot had some spotty CG here and there but it also had some really good CG, his running effects are mostly great and his fight against weather wizard was awesome. Compare the pilot to that Smallville episode with Flash... Yeah, we've come a long way from that.

Granted a speedster is probably the easiest one (of all superpowers) to do for TV, but still The Flash pilot was impressive to me.

Oh, I think most would agree with that notion. It's just -- as most have already said -- that the budgets often did not allow for it. Now that TV is catching up in diplaying good special effects for reasonably cheaper, the medium can start thriving in this format.

It's the only way they can logically bring her back and turn her into a hero not hunted by the police. I want to see her back, especially since her actress has gotten a lot better since their original appearance.

Without a doubt TV is better. However only if the shows moved at the pace Arrow has set. The temptation to drag things out over a long period of time, simply because they can (to get the most out of a story idea, not develop new characters or story until the next year, etc), is to great. That's the huge downside. I like that Arrow puts it all on the table with the understanding the current season might be the last while at the same time having a plan for where they'd like to go if they do get a new season.

Yesss...Helene needs to be back, in Suicide Squad. And Suicide Squad needs to in at least two episodes. Altough I wonder how they will work it out with the movie they making about it.

Anyway, Helena has improved a lot with each appearace, so I'm expecting great things from her coming back.

CW's President says there's a possibility TNT's Titans series might be a part of the Arrowverse.

And beyond the linked comic book stories, there’s also the framework of corporate synergy. Mark Pedowitz, CW’s president, says there’s a possibility that the Flash and Arrow universe might include TNT’s new show, corporate half-sibling Titans (definitely not Gotham or Constantine, though). “What you’ll see embedded in Flash and Arrow is that we’ll have the ability to test characters out. Is there room to grow them into the next show? I cannot tell you yet. There are discussions going on,” he said.

I thought season 2 Roy was okay, but he really doesn't serve much purpose in the show beyond needing to be there because he's Green Arrow's sidekick.

I really liked Roy in young justice, he was angsty but never crossing the line to becoming annoying

This jon Cena kid is just bland as hell tho. But we gotta get used to him now, he's speedy and he's got a suit and everything

In some scenes she looks scary skinny. Season 1 she was fiiiiiine. She's lost me a bit in S2 thus far.

Felicity on the other hand is the exact opposite. Whoa.

Yes, she lost a lot of weight. Some think she is a method actor and the weight loss was in tune with her character's struggles in the season. Who knows, but she seems to be at a more healthy weight and fitness for the upcoming season. We'll see. But Felicity just keeps getting more gorgeous.

Still less confusing than one shared universe though.

And I'm not even sure it would be that confusing. If they're willing to work with TNT a similiar deal with CBS might be even simplier. So it would bassicaly connect all superhero shows of theirs on the air.
