it's funny, this is misquoted in the OP both here and on the other forum, and people are going crazy. If you actually read the tweet instead of the post title it's a pretty reasonable and balanced opinion.
 
Plenty of the usual suspects pissing in their britches over this.

It's ridiculous that 'if it doesn't add to the game experience, it shouldn't be there' is a controversial statement.

The other forum still cannot accept that it's a lot harder to sell a game with black lesbian protagonist than a game with white dude protagonist.
 
I really hope he doesn't get too much shit for this (he probably will, though). It's such a simple bit of common sense and it's crazy that it's brave of him to say it, but it really is in this day and age. Still, it's something that does need to be said and, more importantly, heard by a lot of people.

Going forward DEI will be a detriment to games success. We've reached a point where the mere scent of it will whip people up into a frenzy. Western entertainment has poisoned the well so severely it will take years to earn people's trust back.
 
He replied to a DEI comment, but I read his reply as a bit more general, whilst also encompassing DEI. Basically everything you include should add to a game, if it doesn't add to the game its holding it back. A purist statement if you like. Which doesn't rule out some sort of DEI adding to a game, but generally speaking its forced and detracts because it wasn't added for 'amazing moments'. ie: not artistically driven.

It shows how unbalanced their way of thinking is, and how damaging it is to normal discourse.

This is an obvious statement, and the response by the deranged, should be a massive, flashing, caution sign to those who think DEI is ever a good thing. You cannot force ideals onto people. Human beings don't respond well to being told how to think, act, or feel.

I personally hope all this shit goes away. A lot of looneys on both sides telling othed human beings how to think, act, or feel. It's like watching unreasonable reactions to everything day in day out now.

He'll be fine. He didn't say anything controversial. He just said "if it isn't about the game it isn't included in the game", in so many words.
