Yeah I remember it, but one or two failures isn't the end of the world.
If he just gives up, then it's only downhill from there.
Just sucks to see people fall apart.
What he probably realized over the past 15 years is GoW will be the highlight of his career.
And by the vibe I get from him he’s a pretty egotistical guy. He tried to make indie games in his own and failed miserably.
So for him, his own ventures failed and nobody wants him for another giant AAA game. He claims he turned down a $100M Tencent deal because he hates China too. At least that’s what he claims.
So it looks like he’ll only take a job if it’s a AAA game under his terms, no Chinese companies, no more indie games, no more self studios.
What he does is compare offer A, B, C (assuming he even gets that many work offers to begin with) to GoW 20 years ago. If it’s not as good it’s beneath him to do it.
When it comes to jobs, a lot of people are like that. It can only be worth doing if it’s bigger, better and pays more. If not. They aren’t touching it.
