So, this week's Weekly Famitsu issue had a long interview with Team Asobi, sadly I cannot find it at all, but there's a good summary out there:
Source:
- "The game is bigger than the previous title in every respect, but the focus was not on volume, it was on quality"
- Game celebrates PlayStation's 30th anniversary- Titles and characters from PlayStation's history will appear
- Feel haptics from different surfaces and materials you walk on- Made more colorful to have a wider appeal
- Paid attention to detail on physics
- Octopus power-up inflates Astro like a balloon
- Pullable string mechanic in levels to make discoveries to help you clear the stage
- Astro's power-ups have their own unique idle animation
- Some power-ups from the previous game will appear but as part of power-up abilities and not as their own mini-stages.
- Coins can be used on the gacha machine or you can pay the "Blue Bird" to use help functions to guide you through stages.
- Repair the PS5 mothership
- Tied to the mothership is a sort of bot museum where you can view all the VIP bots
- VIP bots have their own animation when you punch them
- Astro speaks lines that sound like Japanese
- New stages and speed run stages are planned as DLC within this year.
