ATLUS registered domain for Persona 4 Remake

Eh.

Kanji is already portrayed as someone not sure with his sexuality. It's still one of the better portrayal of a character struggling with it, especially amazing that it came from a JRPG of all places.
Kanji is not homosexual. Its just that the ideas of Masculinity in that rural town + his appearance made society expect very rigid manly behaviors of him, making him questions his inner self. It's the backwards thinking of the environment he grew up in that fucked him up.

If someone opened Youtube and showed him clips of bikers knitting it would completely solved his inner turmoil there and then lol

No, Kanji issue is despite of tough look of street punk he likes cute things but other people see that as "girly".

The TV world is collective subconscious of people which they shaped Kanji's shadow as over the top exaggerated gay man because thats what they think of him when they see him liking "cute" things.

Looking forward to the announcement. Persona 4 was the first Persona game I played and loved both characters and story. It has plenty of great moments.

I kinda disagree. Kanji shows interest in Naoto even before his dungeon and before the extremely obvious realization that Naoto is a girl.

Kanji is not portrayed as gay, he's just portrayed as someone seeking approval from anyone regardless of gender, so when he thinks he's getting approval from a boy, he's a bit puzzled about his own sexuality with comments like "but i'm a guy and he's a guy . what does that mean" etc.

I read on gaf itself most people are not playing new games and keep playing their classics favorite old ones, so why won't Developers remake the classics ?
Makes sense to me. Gonna buy this day one.

new games is plagued with modern political and social shit, that's why people want to play the old classics, day one as well.

I don’t think it’s the issue of sexuality more than he is struggling with definition of masculinity. He is not sure that his hobbies are “masculine” enough for his macho image.

Edit: And of course this subtlety is lost on modern audiences either the screeches regarding Naoto and Kanji’s storylines.

Or Yosuke’s passive aggressive approach to his own masculinity.

I don't know man, already played through this game 3 times. PS2 version is still my favorite.

Great for people that have never played it though, and I get it, the series didn't really blow up until 5.

Hopefully the next Persona remake they'll do after this one will be P2 since I never played it.

Btw, I think a P2 remake will sell well since it was at the top of an Atlus questionnaire from May 2022:

The results shown are as follows, with the percentage of respondents who voted for those options.
  1. Persona 3 (P3 / P3FES / P3P) (78.9%)
  2. Persona 2: Innocent Sin / Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (78.9%)
  3. Revelations: Persona (76.3%)
  4. Persona 4 (P4G) (74.8%)
  5. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha series (72.1%)
  6. Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (69.5%)
  7. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse (66.7%)
  8. Shin Megami Tensei IV (65.3%)
  9. Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner series (62.4%)
  10. Etrian Odyssey series (58%)
because those are the two that most need a definitive version

so of course Atlus didn’t give us that with Persona 3: Reload… I’m still rather grumpy about the lack of FeMC

As expected and I'm sure that some content from Golden will be released as overpriced af Expansion Pass and not even all content will be available just like with P3R for "reasons".

I mean, it's Alus's fault for me being so negative and sceptical here, cuz I know their limitless greed will fuck it all up.

Atlus maybe the biggest suspect here but I'm suspecting Sega to release "The Answer" later without including it to the Deluxe DLC pack. Sega can compete Paradox when it comes to greediness.

Wish Atlus cut ties with Sega.

I do wonder if they'll manage to get the whole storyline about Naoto in without having to touch anything for "modern audiences".

They won't make Naoto trans, since she is a fan-favorite waifu, but they might rewrite her dungeon so that people stop reading into that.

Won't prevent the inevitable "How the Persona 4 Remake missed an opportunity with Naoto" essays, though

Glad I waited on playing P4 Golden then.

This isn't a slight against you, my friend.

But I always find posts like "glad I waited for x" really funny.

Like, Persona 4 Golden came out over a decade ago. 13 years to be specific. I commend your patience to wait this long *but* whenever this remake comes out, it'll fundamentally be a completely different game. Someone waiting 13 years hasn't really gained or lost much. It's two completely different experiences.

Yep, the whole thing is silly. And P4 on PS2 came out in late 2008 in US.

Not playing a great game for anywhere from 17 to 11 years to wait for a remake that may never happen is a bit weird.

I've been holding off on P4 until they do a remake so I've been looking forward to this!
I bet we'll get P6 first though.

I still think P6 will come out first, but its kinda annoying seeing p4 remake. We easily could have gotten modernized versions of 1/2 which were even ahead of p4 in popularity polls lol

P4 was always the next choice as they can easily reuse the assets from P3R. Also, I doubt that we will get palace-like redone dungeons as Atlus tends to choose the laziest way. Expect TartarusReload 2.0.
Nah, I doubt it, the bikini armor still exist in P3Reload
They censored that trans joke in P3 Reload. Junpei also does not say that Mitsuru looks hot in one particular scene.

Didn’t know those two changes exist on reload, been 12 years since I last played P3P… well lets just hope they come to their senses when P4R or P6 releases

I guess I didn't really provide any context.
I started this series with P5 Royal, which I absolutely adore, then played P5 Strikers, SMT3, SMTV, etc.
These games are super long and I still have Metaphor and P3 Reload on the back burner, hence my "glad I waited" as I'm in no rush to play the amazing P4 Golden, which I know is a gem.

I love 4 but it badly needs updated graphics. Hope it’s confirmed soon.

My money is on it being called either Rerun or Rewatch.

They better not cut the Golden content and make it a remake of the PS2 game. If it is a remake of the PS2 then maybe the Golden content will be sold as an expansion pass.

As happy as I am with 3 Reload and possibility of “4 Rewatch” I do hope we at least some official info on P6. They can take their time (more than they already are) as long as they fill the time up with other games.

I would even be up for a remaster of Persona 5 👀 with some small QoL changes. It is a 9 year old game after all that was designed with the PS3 in mind. Nothing too drastic in terms of graphics but 3 Reload does looks better. Shit, even Phantom X looks better and that’s a mobile game. It looks a lot cleaner, better lighting/shadows, and reflections. I’d call it Persona 5 Rebellion

I dropped the game the moment I heard the rumours a few months ago, so I hope we get some confirmation soon as I'm itching to get back with a fresh coat of paint.
