Re religion: Went to Sunday school a few times as a kid and that's about it. I do have some crazy relatives in Canada who are into Hillsong though lol.
Also, saw this in the toilets at uni today. Not exactly original, but still got a chuckle out of me.

The Vita shows how willing 3rd parties are to get on board the next gen train. Not to mention the Wii exclusive Tri didn't burn the PS3 and 360 to the ground in the West so I don't think they are too worried.
Edit: BRAIN FART. No idea why I thought you were talking about Monster Hunter.
Anyway I don't think it will matter. Dragon Quest has never been as big as it should be over here.
When you tried the different monitor and video card, were they set to the same resolution and refresh rate? Does the effect change if you change the resolution or refresh rate?Rezbit said:Any ideas?

Yeah, you at MQ too? We could be bffs!Jintor said:...you go to MQ?
In that case I don't think it was. I was keeping an eye out for it but didn't spot it. Pretty happy with rifling through wherever we were though!Jintor said:Did you go up three flights of stairs into a tiny shop crammed with famicons and sega genesis consoles? Was there an arcade on the top floor? Were there Nintendo plushies all over the place? Was there a potato on their sign?
If so, you have been to Super Potato.

If you lower the resolution to the same on the bigger LCD, does it still appear? That would implicate the monitor. If they didn't appear it wouldn't necessarily rule it out though.Rezbit said:Different monitor and 560ti were set to a lower resolution (as it was a little 15"er). Same 60hz refresh rate.

Does your monitor give you different port options? Which one are you using?

We leave Tokyo sometime on Thursday for Kyoto. Wife has bought so many dolls and paraphernalia.
Maybe your onboard isn't pushing the same framerate as the 560ti, and pushing up against the 60hz limit is bringing out the problem.Rezbit said:Yep, still appears when I lower the res on the bigger one. Strange that it wouldn't do it with the onboard graphics though?
It was a 21.5" ASUS from PCCG right? All of those seem to have DVI and HDMI too. You definitely don't have a DVI port? There's a lot less than can go wrong if you go straight from DVI to DVI.Rezbit said:Monitor only has a vga port.

The same could have been said about Final Fantasy before it was announced to be going multi for XIII...RandomVince said:No reason it can't come to ps4, Xbox 3, but DQ is usually a one system title. But its also usually an offline RPG.
Exactly. It's especially obtuse given that the evangelising types do it primarily because the dire importance of spreading the message is usually a core belief of theirs.Fredescu said:Then all you're going to achieve is a fight.
So nothing on the desktop or some games? Only in some? Seems like a very strange problem. Could you check to see how much strain the GPU is under? Maybe run low settings on FC2 and see if it happens again?Rezbit said:Okay so for anyone who read my post regarding the flickering in some games, I have an update...insofar as I have tried heaps of things and nothing has alleviated it. The 560 ti and 21.5" Asus monitor are not cooperating it seems. I see about 3 dull pulsing lines in most games (never on the desktop, can't see it on Portal or Dawn of War II - always noticeably in FC2, Metro, Batman)

They genuinely believe that their creed fulfills them and that people without it are lost without it. They do what they do out of a sense of altruism.
I just politely ignore them or if they push, gently remind them that we live in a society wherein their values are not universally shared and that they need to respect other people's views. No need to start no shit.

I remember vaguely having flickering problems a few years ago and I think it was to do with overheating but my memory is horrible.

Hmm. Might be a random setting on your Monitor? No change with a different refresh rate? I thought that having a different rate resulted in flickering. Might need to take the problem up with whoever you bought the card from, although then it means they have to recreate the problem which might not happen in their rig. For some odd reason I think my problem went away with time. I think it was happening playing FEAR on my old 6600. I also had a problem with the bearing on my PSU making a lot of racket during summertime 3 years ago that just eventually disappeared.Rezbit said:Nothing on desktop, games like Portal don't seem to have it.
Tried FC2 on low, seems to reduce it a bit but can still see it. CPU running about 45-50 and gpu about 50-55.
That might be the problem. Having a PC that can play all the games has made it much more fun for me between SteamChat and SteamSales. Not to mention getting de3 for $28 and Arkham City for $25 from GreenManGaming. All it has taken is a GPU upgrade every now and then as the Q6600 keeps on trucking great, 6600->9800+->460.FallbackPants said:But seriously, I don't play games like i used to. There just hasn't been anything that's really grabbed my for a while. Noire was fun, but as soon as I finished it I was done. Space Marine could be cool and I'm looking forward to Dues Ex, but my Xbox is in for repairs and my PC is too old to be playing anything.

A huge part of PC gaming for me is being able to go back and play the classics. Ripped all the Lucas Arts games onto my hard drive and jump in every now and then with ScummVM, GOG has a great range and if I want to play some quick Rise of Nations I can with a quick click of the mouse.
Fuck you. Not only did you sell me on Vanquish, but you've also sold me on DE3 and now Catherine. It looks like the sort of game I could actually competitively play.reptilescorpio said:Rewatched the finals of Catherine. So friggin entertaining! Keep in mind that it is only local MP at the moment but it is DEFINITELY worth picking up if you like puzzle games as well as can handle anime. I'm guessing they'll patch in online multi maybe. I just loved that it gave off a massive Lode Runner vibe, but with a fatal twist. If the SP is basically just that with some quirky anime stuff, I reckon it'll be worth buying. Not at the price it's going for ATM, though... it has yet to bomba.reptilescorpio said:Keep in mind that it is only local MP at the moment but it is DEFINITELY worth picking up if you like puzzle games as well as can handle anime.
