^Fucking hell lmao.

I just spit out barbecue sauce all over my keyboard at work... thanks lol.

Interesting.

How are Foxbodies gaining value? Just a few years ago everyone considered it to be the shittiest Mustang ever now it's suddenly going up?

I've always liked them though. Something about that flat shape intrigued me every time lol.

My first car was a 68 Mustang that my Dad and I bought and fixed up. Of course it has appreciated in value wildly and would be worth much, much more today had I held on to it. At least I can say it paid for part of my college education as we sold it for about $12,000 in the mid 90's.

Right out of college and just before my wife and I married I bought a red 1991 LX 5.0 Mustang coupe (we married in 1999) and I drove it several years and I still think it is one of my favorite overall cars that I have ever owned. The torque and the sound were addictive and it had extremely comfortable seats. I ended up selling it to someone who just basically knocked on my door one day and made me an offer that was more than I paid for it. He was going to turn it into a drag car and liked that mine had never been in any accidents despite its 120,000 miles.

Good memories and believe it or not, if someone offered to let me choose one of the two to have back, I would take the 91 over the 68, despite the huge difference in value.

Proper hot hatch from Biermann

That's a good looking hot hatch. Are we getting that in the USA?

There's the Elantra GT Sport in the US but it's only a warm hatch. It has the same 1.6T with 201 brake that the Kia Cee'd GT has over here. Seems there's no plans to bring the i30N your way, which seems a pity.

The G70 is getting pretty good reviews too. We really like our Sonata and we would definitely get another Hyundai in the future.

My mother has a Cee'd which she's had zero issues with. I don't mind driving about it when I'm back home visiting. Solid car. I always quite fancied the Pro_Cee'd variant, it's a good looking car. Although if they don't do a proper hot version of the next generation, a 2 year old i30N could be right up my street. It'd still have 3 years of warranty left and it's unlimited mileage too.

Good memories and believe it or not, if someone offered to let me choose one of the two to have back, I would take the 91 over the 68, despite the huge difference in value.

That's real high praise for the Foxbody and I'd probably do the same thing lol.

Older Mustangs are cool but I feel like they're a bit overrated... like the Camry of classic muscle cars imo.

Gimme an El Camino or a Barracuda instead.

Looks like a 'roided up GTI which I like... too bad it's not hitting stateside.

Anyone know what car this is? Sorry for shit picture due to driving and trying to snap the pic real quicksies.

L to R: Prius, some dump truck, Elantra, Civic, Noble M12, TSX, Gen Coupe, and Camry. Brown/burgundy car all the way at the back is either a Edge, Escape or Expedition.

On your rear view mirror: ATS/CTS, Accord, this wagon is the only one I can't guess lol. It's definitely a GM wagon... maybe a Buick Estate?

Do I get a prize for trying to guess every car? Lol

I finally bought a car. Next step: clean up and remove those shitty temp plates. This is way more car than I am used to. Going from a honda fit to this feels so weird. I actually don't dread driving to work now.

Yeah I've never really gotten the appeal for some of the old muscle. For the most part they're pretty bad to drive, and even though some of them can look gorgeous the restored ones are ubiquitous at this point. Go to a classic car show and oh, fifty '69 mustangs in perfect condition. Cool.

If they're collectors cars, I think they should stand out some. Seeing a pristine C1 Corvette can really be something, just another 1970 Camaro isn't even worth looking at.

Dave... You are treading on some mighty thin ice here.

I know, that's where I live. Maybe the better way to say it is that while I'm sure they're fun to drive they're not "good" to drive, and unless it's an uncommon car the restorations have been so popular that they've lost that special feeling. A pristine 60's muscle car was something special 15 years ago, but now you see them all the time.

Lol yeah I can see what you're saying and I was halfway kidding about the ice. I love old muscle and even I get the feeling at a show sometimes that "oh this Mustang/Chevelle/etc. is just like that other one over there." But there are a lot of guys out there that aren't afraid to break away from a straight restoration and go with an LS swap (which may be starting to get a little too common itself lol) aftermarket suspension, and custom interior or fabrication work.

And yeah most of them weren't built to handle in the curves, but I feel like my T/A does pretty well with its factory suspension pack, much better I'd assume than the older and heavier Chargers, Chevelles, etc. though I've never had the opportunity to drive one. But driving an old muscle car to me is just about cruising down the road with a loud V8, and maybe laying a little rubber when the light turns green.

Wow, huge congratulations on that. I am still legitimately shocked that CarMax had an M2 in their inventory but I am glad a Gaf'er was able to nab it. And going from a Honda Fit to an M2 is quite a large step up! When you have the time, feel free to post as many pictures and videos as you would like.

If you are hanging out on thin ice then I am right there with you. My 68 Mustang had no power steering, no power brakes and no a/c so my memories of driving it are mostly sweaty ones with a lingering odor of exhaust fumes. After the restoration it was legitimately fast (we "upgraded" the motor to a built 351) and sounded great but to use it as my daily driver going to work and school? Not fantastic.

After we sold the Mustang my Dad found a lightly used, low mileage Escort GT (I think it was a 91 or 92 model) for me to use to go back and forth to work and school and that car was a complete blast to use as a daily driver. It had the same 1.8 Mazda motor that the 2nd gen Miata used and it loooooved to rev. I have fond memories of my foot being buried in the accelerator pedal of that car for most of the time that I owned it and it is a big reason why I still favor small and light weight cars with motors that like to rev.

Your Mustang probably had drum brakes on the front too huh? At that point I'd definitely want to upgrade the brakes and add power steering. My car had them factory so it was never an issue for me. I drive it everywhere all the time unless I have to haul something around.

Yes, as someone said, a Noble M12 aka M400. There's one in the Orlando area that comes out to meets.

Fun fact, those are Hyundai Sonata tail lights. LOL.

The engine? A twin turbo Ford Duratec motor from a basic Taurus or Mondeo. There was a 2.5L and a 3.0L. Also the same two engines that powered old Jaguar S-Type/X-Types.

Ok, that S2000 is amazingly, spectacularly stupid. Who the hell does that? It has to have like 700 HP directed to pencil thin tires and like a 65/35 F/R weight balance, right? If you floor it, the thing will just peel the rear tires like a banana. And taking a corner at WOT has to be 100% code brown because you'll either shove the front into a ditch or fling the back into an ice skating pirouette routine immediately. Not to mention changing the clutch like you change tires.

But yeah, I have a weird soft spot for stuff like this. It's just... America in the best/worst way.

That GT2 RS time is a whole different kind of crazy.

That M2 looks clean!

Congrats man!!

The driving mechanics isn’t the issue for me. It’s just too common to do another classic Mustang. Like why go through all the trouble of building one if you’re not gonna be unique about it?

Now if it was a restomod then that’s perfectly fine. But everyone seems to just do a copy of Eleanor and while that’s still cool as hell, everyone and their mom’s has done it already.

Idk, maybe I just like making my cars my own. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Damn that’s awesome.

I’ve been wanting to find an El Camino and stick a RB26DETT or the 13B-REW for shits and giggles... maybe one day in the future lol.

I went from a Golf Mk7 to an M235i and it felt like a gigantic leap, going from a Honda Fit to an M2 must be unbelievable. Congrats on your car, I'm extremely jealous!

I've started to hate german cars in general. I've come to the realization that they're taking advantage of their german heritage and screwing people, over pricing their cars. I get so angry thinking that the new Genesis G70 comes standard with a mechanical LSD meanwhile any 3 Series comes standard with an open diff. My M235i has an open diff, I mean how is that acceptable? A Hyundai has an LSD as standard and my sporty coupe BMW doesn't? How long is it going to take for the germans to stop over charging people and giving less? Next car I'm buying wont be german for sure. This small rant had nothing to do with Akims car btw. The only german car that I would consider buying is an M2, nothing else.

Porsche has retaken the Nurburgring lap record for a production car with the GT2RS. 6:47.3.

5 seconds faster than the Huracan Performante and 10 seconds faster than the 918 Spyder!

Link has video of the full lap.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...bliterated-the-lap-record-at-the-nurburgring/

I just watched the video and that is absolutely bonkers fast. The speed the gt2rs is able to keep through the corners is unreal as is the bright red cockpit inside a black and yellow car. Well done, Porsche.

In stark contrast, I'm really satisfied with my poverty spec non-luxo badge German. The Golf R is a phenomenal value in Canada. Nothing near its price tag comes close to this level of capability, comfort, practicality, creature comforts, build quality IMO.

Gonna echo this for the GTI.

It still amazes me that you can get this kind of performance, composure, and refinement under $30k... under $20k if you're willing to buy CPO/used. I still feel like I got a steal of the century everytime I get in mine and I know for a fact that I slightly overpaid for it lol.

Based on my research and test drives, the competition isn't really anywhere close... the Civic Si seems to be a tad slower and the Focus ST has a godawful interior. The WRX is probably the closest but even then Subaru's interior is a step below, plus you get to deal with the stigma of being a vapebro lol.

Yeah, live and learn, right? That Mustang also taught me how awesome big V8's were and that torque is fun. Every car I've owned has taught me something in terms of what I like in a car and what I don't like and it all started with that Mustang.

The Golf R and GTI are better than a lot of people think. They are tuned well for the street and feel punchy and peppy to use in normal driving which makes them feel fun and lively. They also have a friendly interior that is of good quality and definitely feel more special from the driver's seat than anything else in their price bracket.

720S makes the P100D look slow. What the fffffffffffffff

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJYBy1GesDM

The noise that 720S makes is just intoxicating. I'm guessing that the Tesla takes it to 60 or 70 mph and that's when the 720S starts to walk away. At higher speeds there really is no competition.

I loved my 2012 GTI and would have kept it for a long time if I didn't also fall in love with the 7R. It was my first foray outside of the world of Hondas. I'll forever be a fan of GTIs.

Here's the Mustang. I'm also pretty sure it was on Jalopnik

That has always been my dream. I have always wanted to get a Mustang/Corvette/Challenger and drop like an RB26, 1JZ, etc in them.

Although my pie in the sky dream is to put a 20B into a ZR1 Vette. I want to watch people's brains explode when they see the rotary in there. lol

This is the kind of thing I like.

There's a guy on the somethingawful auto subforum that's building this car, and it is perfect. Perfect in every way:

Chevy badge ruined it, went from DGAF to tryhard.
Sure, it's got an LS in it, but c'mon, you don't see people slapping a toyota badge on 2J swapped vehicles.
