Didn't really feel that battle as a whole but K-Shine's 2nd round was RIDICULOUS. The Macho Camacho line.. god. damn.K-Shine v DNA

Can't wait for 'Night of Main Events 3'. Hollow is going to body Surf.

Hopefully Smack uploads something for the 4th of July, but he's on "real nigga time" so I doubt that.
Also, anyone see Daylyt strip in that 'Don't Flop' battle?

NOME3 Recap is up. First battle, Hollow vs. Tsu-Surf dropping July 4th. HYPE! Most excited for that.
SMH @ Hollow reusing one of his old lines though.
I thought more people would stick with this thread but that doesn't seem to be the case
TBQH I only really like KOTD when they bring in internationals to battle some of the bigger locals, but they're expanding now so I'm paying a bit more attention. Same goes for internationals. None of the NOME 3 matchups interest you at all? Damn. To each their own though.I'm watching the thread but these latest Smack matchups aren't intriguing in the slightest. Add to that, that hardly anyone is showing love to the various other matchups (KOTD, Don't Flop, random ass upstart leagues paying their whole budgets for big main events) and it's nothing to comment on.
Aye Verb vs. Arsonal is up. Verb still got it, liked Ars more than I usually do too, less filler. I feel like Verb won that after first watch.

These are all fantastic. The fuck @ Lottazay dressed like one of those Star Wars guards though lol That battle is definitely one of the better ones I've watched this year though. Probably the best Daylyt performance I've seen.. but that might be because it's the easiest for me to digest.Bumping this
Real Deal vs. B-Magic
Dat SMACK debut by Real Deal.
Daylyt vs. Lotta Zay
One of the best this year, easy to miss since it was in iBattle.
T-Rex vs. O-Red
3-0 body.
Villun vs. Sonny Bamboo
Seasoned vet destroys up and comer.

Yeah. IMO 2009-10 was the peak of battle rap.
Competition is really good. Look at the quality of that livestream. Probably not sustainable at all considering venue ticket prices and who was on the card, but it's a step towards creating something like that in-house.Shit is gonna continue to improve as other leagues put pressure on Smack and make the matches he can't or won't. There's plenty good shit going on now, look at how good some of these new PG dudes are.

I think as long as the most popular battle rappers are divas, things will only get worse. I really have lost patience seeing good battle rappers x and y refuse to do a match on Smack and then half assing it on KotD or some 5rd rate league, giving us a battle with less replay value. And as long as KotD and UW aren't developming great talent on their own (KotD is better in this regard), we won't see the competition that the game is missing.
2010 and 2012 are on par, but I'd edge it to 2012. In 2012 we saw the explosion of the PGs, KotD's greatest progress, a diversification of styles, bigger sponsorships, as well as a weaning off of the GrindTime nerd era. Competition soared as Lux and Chilla changed the game and we saw most of these guys' best and most lyrical performances. Granted, Mook also sort of fucked up the game in 2012 by making it all about the money, but still.
Man I have to disagree with the labeling of GrindTime as the "Nerd Era" when GT was responsible for the major resurgence of Battle Rap and brought dudes to the table like Conceited, Illmac, Thesaurus, Hollow, Marvwon, and they gave dudes like Fresco, Soul Khan, Real Deal, Ness Lee, and Dizaster a chance to shine. Hollow being the biggest boon since Smack would've never gave him the slighest chance coming off his absolutely terrible showing at the second WRCs. It's also worth noting that without GT (Lush One specifically to be honest) there would've been no blueprint for KOTD or Don't Flop to follow so we'd have never seen dudes like Pat Stay, Shotty Horroh, or Hollohan either.
I mean I get that you're not into a lot of the styles that came out of GT at the time but really, GT was not only the only organization out there bringing Battle Rap back in a large way but they gave everybody a chance to make their mark. Can't help to respect that.
Thread subscribed. I'm in it.
.
I'd just like to say I think Hollow killed Lux.

Whats the next big event/battle?
I agree. Nothing wrong with nerd rap too. Nowadays you got Charron/other Canadians and Dont Flop rappers with gun bars. Shit is corny.
Lol nobody got killed or bodybagged in that.
You must not fuck with URL at all then I guess lolgun bars are corny in general.
There's a video on youtube where Nocando's freestyle destroys two dudes that came with written gun bars.
"you know why i don't kick it with you sort of bitches?/cuz you like to kick it when it's 4th and inches"
Lux's bars were dope as fuck, stop it. Did his personals land, no. But just based off the sheer bars he put together you can't say he got killed. His 3rd round is probably one of the best he's ever had in his career. I think Hollow had everything else above Lux, but based on pure Lyricism Lux was better in every round. I don't have a problem with people scoring Hollow 3-0 or whatever but 2-1 either way makes more sense to me. Hollow also had more filler than you're willing to acknowledge, I think.Nah, Hollow took that 3 to 0, that's a kill in my book. He pretty much broke down everything Lux was going to throw at him. Lux had nice shots but in the end their impact was lessened quite a bit by Hollow. Lux's entire offense was crushed.
It's like Mighty Ducks 3 (I think) when they went into Flying V formation and the other team did the V crusher. Flying V is still a dope formation, but against what it went up against? Worthless.

So what happened to that one dude that actually rubbed his hands on his nuts and then put that hand on another dudes back and face? Has he tried anything as crazy as that since? Shit killed any momentum other guy had.
You need to read again and stop being so defense bruh. I said that Lux came with it never took that away from him. But Hollow made it all irrelevant.
And really mentioning fillers without talking about Lux? Word? Wooord?
Not all of GrindTime was the nerd era. It's well known what GrindTime has done for the game and the talent they have developed across pretty much all of America when Smack left; the nerd era was when the different parts of the organization started splintering and falling apart, and when you started seeing those nerd styles pretty much bubble to the top, trying to get everyone and their technical support to rap, and that's what gave GrindTime that reputation and what contributed to their fall from grace. Most of these same nerd rappers from the late GT days are trying their luck in KotD now. 2012 was when that transition was sort of made and Drect called it in IMO.Man I have to disagree with the labeling of GrindTime as the "Nerd Era" when GT was responsible for the major resurgence of Battle Rap and brought dudes to the table like Conceited, Illmac, Thesaurus, Hollow, Marvwon, and they gave dudes like Fresco, Soul Khan, Real Deal, Ness Lee, and Dizaster a chance to shine. I agree with you that Hollow won. How are you saying that Hollow made it irrelevant? That makes no sense. You don't make someone's punches and the intricate bars they wrote not matter just cause your personals and performance are amazing. otherwise guys like JC and Chilla and B-Magic would 'lose' everytime against dudes like Clips, Ill Will, etc.
I state Lux was nice as fuck but Hollow just came with it..
Charlie Clips vs Hollow Da Don sounds like it could be interesting...
