What facts? He has no idea how steam numbers work. 136k on steam doesn't mean one hundred and thirty six thousand are playing, it means 1.3 million ppl are playing apex...if apex has around 10 million daily, do you really think PC only being f2p is gonna have 136k literal players? Lmao. 100 million registered users, fact is, 10% of that plays daily...bf 2042 has 240k right now playing on steam, not 24k. So yes, cold facts mean shit when u don't understand how numbers work.

Laughing my ass off people who brought this after playing the beta, sure bf betas are buggy but nothing compared to 2042s beta, especially since it was the rumoured september build, also zince campbell is head of dice now, the guy that made cod and titanfall so rip battlefield you were my fav online franchise

luckily I only used the EA 10 hour trial. BFV burned me when I preordered that after like BF1 (after countless updates, at launch was a mess) so wasn’t preordering BF2042 & glad I didn’t.

Same boat truely sad times, personally i think they peaked at 4 went downhill ever since, wasnt really a fan of 3 either, ive only played beta of 2042 and it was enough for me to miss this game

You've been moving goalposts this entire thread and nowhere is that more evident than in this reply right here.
Now, if you took the time to actually read the article instead of blinding defending the reputation of the multi-billion dollar game company, you'd notice that nowhere in the article did it say that Steam was the primary userbase for the game. They also did not say that any platform was the primary place where people are playing. In fact, they flatly say that because the game does not report player counts anywhere, it's impossible to know if it's dying just as hard on non-Steam platforms.
Yet here you are making bold claims without anything to back them up. The fact is the game is dying on Steam and at a very rapid pace. That is true and that was the singular focus of the article. Nothing more, nothing less.
There is such a weird defense force for this game and these companies here that I just cannot understand.

In order for anyone to even see if this is normal, we first need figures of past titles.
Its not like 20 million people are currently playing Battlefield 1 or something lol From what I've seen, majority only play such titles for a few weeks nad then move on to something else and then a small community continues playing.
From what I've seen its something like 5k on BF4, 8k on BF1, 25k on BFV etc (granted that is just based on a the past few months, I don't know what they currently are today)
So what ever is the latest has the biggest install base and it slowly goes downwards

Agreed 100%, it tries to force this narrative as in to suggest something is unusual, yet doesn't actually state how past titles perform. I recall reading something about Uncharted 4 flopping cause 78% sales drop after its release and before posting anything, I needed to first fucking know...WHAT IS FUCKING NORMAL, has this happened before? Is this person trying to force a narrative by cherry picking this information and making ti sound like its this wild CRAZY unsual thing and turns it its normal for a single player game to drop like that post launch, it went on to be come the best selling Uncharted game.Same thing happened to Fallout 4 like "WOW MY GOD LOOK AT DAT DROP" goes on to be the best selling Fallout.
Far Cry 5 "WOOOW OMGZ BBQ 70% CUZ ITS WOKE, its OVERz" goes on to be the best selling Far Cry
Its like they want to force this narrative sooooooo bad, they'll try to use any data to make it sound like its a doom and gloom thing while not actually addressing how often such a thing occurs.

None of my friends are playing 2042 anymore. I see more people playing older BF games than 2042. Hell, I'll be playing BF1/4 along with WWIII this weekend.

What you see is irrelevant in this case, its like me saying I see more of my friends playing Yakuza series, I see that cause most of my friends like JRPGs though... You can play BF1 and BF4, great titles btw, but those games are also not on that list =)
I mean...the fact that Battlefront 2 as controversial as its launch was is on that list, yet none of the games you just talked about like BF1 or BF4 is on that list is pretty funny lol Battlefield 1 outsold Battlefront 2, yet its Battlefront 2 that is listed, so this is one of those things that fluctuates and I wouldn't read too much into it.

A while back, I enjoyed Ark and all on PC, but it's also a four-year-old game now. A newly released entry in a very popular franchise from a AAA-dev should be crushing that game, especially mere weeks after its release.

I think they mean most who play EA games....keep in mind, I understand where they are coming from as I own BF3, BF4 etc in Origin vs Steam.
Even Steam having lots of users, doesn't actually mean THAT is where the majority play BF, to my understanding majority of the base is on the consoles, so you'd need those figures to see how its really doing vs the platform its played the least on or something.

There's no reason to believe it's not trending downwards across the PC landscape. People won't like a game more just because they purchased it via Epic Game Store or Origin.
Besides, we all know that Steam is far, far and away the largest digital distribution platform.

The sad thing, this game, even in it's current state has probably made money for them. Maybe not as much as their unrealistic expectations, but still. Companies like EA, seem more concerned about short term returns and are willing to tank franchises. The board or non developers seem to forget you need to build a user base and good will. The only language they speak is ROI, until that suffers in a negative way, nothing will change.

Same, before the initial reveal..i didn't have faith in Dice given how people how gone through the company within the last 5 years. Then the trailer did what it was suppose to do...give me hope.
I am so angry for falling for their lie. Should have known better.
Again, yes all BF games have had issues at launch. Given the mess the marketing was for BF5...i really thought Dice learned from their mistakes. But seeing this all clearly shows they didn't. Really wish I could get my money back...

For me, what makes me more sad is this: I not against this, you know. Dev team want a new game, they can make CoD clone, Fornine clone, whatever.
But, they're bastards. They know if they would make a new IP with that bunch of 'new ideias' they would never get the install base they need to move on their plan.
So, they create a game, copy+paste ideias from others game, in the end they call the game 'Battlefield'.

Nothing wrong with someone liking this game. Dont get me wrong...i have had some fun in it. But my issue really stems from what was were shown versus what we are getting. I then look at the other titles and see the gaps in things missing. Maybe I was overhyped which set high expectations that couldn't be met...but idk. I was pretty hyped for WWIII's beta release and while they have had issues as well, I am really enjoying it and nowhere near as frustrated as I am with 2042.

It's probably the worst BF launch in about 10 years and each game has had its launch issues.
Problem is, all the previous games at least launched with a solid foundation, this game has fundamental design issues that for whatever reason they thought was ok.
Terrible maps, no classes, no social/group options, FUNDAMENTAL UI issues that I can't even fathom passed ANY form of QA, less content than even some of the lesser content filled BF games. Environmental destruction is LAUGHABLY bad.
It's a failure. Just simple as that. It failed. It deserves it's criticism and I look forward to seeing the state of the game a year from now for $20. I hope it improves greatly as the franchise deserves more than this.

I've enjoyed it enough to continue to play it, especially since the server issues were fixed. It DOES encapsulate those Battlefield feeling moments for sure. But, I do think there are things that could certainly be better from a design perspective. Like I've mentioned before, the whole "specialist" thing put a bad taste in my mouth. I've warmed up to it, but I still don't like the idea of "unique personalities" with "unique abilities" in a Battlefield game. It seems wildly out of place to me. The UI is also pretty gross as well.
I don't mind the maps, I mean, I understand the game having to evolve to some degree to keep up with the times. So having a gigantic map that's cut into chunks just makes sense. Though, I do wish there was even more variation. The size actually reminds me more of 1942 and 2, even if it feels barren at times. But it's as barren as you allow it to be, when you're trying to complete the objective, there's action everywhere.
