Having won numerous awards in 2024, Astro is reportedly set to return to his adventures in a new PS5 Astro Bot bundle, which is reportedly due out soon. We share what we think we know about the bundle.

Rumors about Sony holding a State of Play are increasing day by day. Indeed, several well-known figures in the gaming world such as NateTheHate or Jeff Grubb claim the event would be held this week, by February 14, 2025.

In addition, Sony is continuing its strategy of marketing new PlayStation 5 packs . Most recently, new PS5 Monster Hunter Wilds packs have been announced in Japan.

GOTY 2024 to be spotlighted again with new PS5 bundle​

Astro Bot, the multi-award winning game, including Game of the Year 2024 (GOTY), is reportedly getting a new PS5 bundle. This bundle is expected to be available in Europe and North America at least.

The bundle would include a PS5 Standard console (with disc drive) as well as a download code for the game Astro Bot. Although the price is still unknown, it is likely that a promotion will be offered at the launch of this bundle, with a price that we estimate between 474 and 499 euros.

As for the release date, it is said to be around March 13, 2025. And while an announcement during the next State of Play is possible, the exact date remains unknown.

It would be more interesting to see what the sales are before a bundle (if one were to exist). We have the 1.5M figure from very early after the game was released, but as it has been hanging in the charts, that surely has changed since.

(when are Sony's quarterly financials or did I miss it?)

Sony were wise to invest in American studios in the late 2000s/early 2010s when they were going through their golden era.

But it’s the 2020s now and things have changed, time to pivot back to Japan.

Let's get this clear first.
Among first-party games; Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 all got standard PS5 bundles worldwide. Astro Bot should be joining them soon.
As far as regional bundles go; Japan got a Gran Turismo 7 bundle, Europe got a Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart a bundle, and Latin America got a Returnal / Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart dual game bundle.

Off topic: Continuous push and forcing woke agenda especially twisted gender ideology and extreme DEI has killed not just gaming but also the entire entertainment industry in California. Even there awards shows like Grammy, Golden globe and Oscars are a joke this days, because its more political, and woke infested. I hope Sony leave this woke plague infested place and go back to Japan centric development.

Seriously though - I would throw money at screen for DS Edge with Astro LCD, but if they bundle it with a Pro AND release a patch I'd buy another PS5 too.

I don't think PS5s Pro needs any appealing bundle to sell better. Those PS5s currently do need bundles (particularly in Japan & Europe). They'll probably finally make a price cut (or put the game for free as anyway this game cost them peanuts compared to their virtue signaling products).

Astro Bot was perfect for kids, but 450 was too tall an order, especially plus the game.

Smart doing this before the Switch 2 comes out. Wonder if this will be a permanent price drop though or if the bundle will go away before GTA6.

Imagine if PS5 has a price drop around Black Friday and a GTAVI bundle for November / December. That would be PS5's peak months in terms of sales.

2026 is also the year the console surpasses 100M in consoles sold. Still with 2 years before the successor releases.

They really need a PS5 bundle across the PS5 family for GTA6 including the PS5 Pro. It'll be very interesting to see their forecast in May as it should tell us a lot about how they feel about the strength of PS sales and how aggressive they might be.

I also wonder how long until we see a PS5 super slim with a small SOC and when we'll see them announce the PS handheld. I don't think they can give the Switch 2 more than a year on the market alone, but that the PS5 Digital and PS Handheld can apply a lot of pressure to Switch 2 sales.

The faster Sony can get to say 350 or 300 dollars for the PS5 Digital, the better.

Oh, so we’re back to “Sony doesn’t make enough sequels”! Phew, only took a few years from the bitchin’ that “all they make is sequels now”!!!

In reality, Sony is the only one of the big three that has shelled out new IPs in abundance, while maintaining a decent cut of sequels.
