Black Myth: Wukong helped SONY recover all the money they lost with Concord. Even if it is $200M or $400M they already made that back

As reported by VGC, Sony specifically mentioned “a new sports title” (EA Sports FC 25 launched at the end of September) and “an action RPG title from China” (Black Myth: Wukong) for PlayStation’s sales success in the quarter.

Black Myth: Wukong, from Chinese developer Game Science, launched on August 19 and sold an eye-watering 18 million copies in just two weeks across PC and PS5, reportedly making over $700 million in revenue in the process. That’s enough to put Black Myth: Wukong up there with Grand Theft Auto 5 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as one of the fastest-selling games of all time, and is an astonishing return for a game that had a reported budget of $70 million over six years of development.

You will need to make outlandish revenue to subsidise our DEI portfolio. IGN now adopting, it wasn't that much of a disaster because you made enough cash to not trash it.

Please make more HH - oh wait, new article incoming!!!

He don't support Japan Hulst.

And turns of life... The one who helped was China.
Sigh, please stop reading and believing everything you read on the internet.
People used to laugh at you when you made hating on Jim Ryan your entire personality, do you really want to be known as the Hulst guy from now on?
Wukong is success of the quarter and concord is failure of the quarter.
Zero correlation, still. It's a very stupid headline.

I think the unnamed sports title could just as easily be College football.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
If Im Sony I buy GameScience immediately. Invest in them like you did Bungie, skys the limit with these guys, that studio is pure young raw talent.

Also need that PS5 Pro patch immediately. stop being lazy

It makes zero sense to lump together Black Myth Wukong and Concord into one article. It suggest a connection or correlation where there is none. Black Myth was not developed to make up for other titles failing. The success of Black Myth is supposed to finance a more expensive sequel, just like the success of Concord was supposed to finance sequels, spin-off, cross media etc.

lol at everyone complaining about the correlation. You know these quotes are from their earnings reports to shareholders? They lost money over there, made more over here. The shareholders only care how the books are balanced, and wukong was the thing that made the biggest difference. It's somewhat relevant to talk about both games in that context.

That's called spin. They have to prove to their shareholders they aren't incompetent asshats who know what they're doing. Of course if a shareholder asks you're going to spin it as "Yeah concord sucked, but we made all this money with Black Myth Wukong so it's all good".

I never like Chinese government and communism but in fairness there games or even movies produce by China does not force or push any agenda. I might purchase this game in physical copy any time soon.

"Action RPG from China"

lol, both Genshin and Zenless Zone Zero also falls into that category, and both games has been making money for Sony this year, especially Genshin that has won the Playstation Partner Grand Award literally every year, so I honestly think that the game Sony mentioned is either these 2 games, and not Black Myth Wukong, although BM: W does seems to perform greatly on Playstation.
