You'd be cool with the next big FROM game being exclusive to PC?
Wasn't Bloodborne commissioned by Sony or something...? Not sure, anyway...back to the reviews:

Sure.

If every platform had the exact same game library it would make multiple consoles existing redundant. A platform having a unique game or reason to own it is fine by me.
There are more things, than just games, that make the platforms different from each other.

Fantastic! This game even got me excited to boot my PS3 again and continue with Demon's Souls!
Finally beat 4-1 yesterday. Right now in 3-1

Now, just give me more great exclusives! I cannot justify a PS4 purchase for 1 game...

:D Plenty of other reasons if you don't have a next gen console already or a gaming PC. But this is one hell of a draw.

You've obviously not played some of the other excellent exclusives such as inFamous, DriveClub, The highly under rated The Order etc..

Oh man I don't know what to do.

I was not going to buy Bloodborne on launch, because I don't particularly like the goth style. (Just a personal taste. I think the game looks great, it's just not my cup of tea.) Figured I'll wait for a sale to see how the gameplay is.

But these reviews. Now it feels like I am missing out on something truly great. Which I am, by the looks of it.

Its true, a lot of people are not acquainted with this type of game, and its not for everyone.

Notice how Mr Hiphop gamer says its his first hour. First hour out of 40+ hours. You can tell when someone has never played a Souls game

Likewise though, maybe this will click with some people and they'll realise 'hey, I don't need my hand holding to have a great time

I don't believe that for a second, sorry.

Oh boy. Let's keep away from this off topic talk. Miyazaki himself said Sony came asking for a new IP for PS4.

All i can say is, if you don't want exclusives, you don't have to have them. You don't need to clog up the conversation about how you don't want them, just avoid the conversation about them entirely.

Btw, the most acclaimed PS4 game comes from Japanese dev. That's damn good.

The most acclaimed games on any platforms this gen are Japanese. Nintendo and Platinum games on the Wii U and now Bloodborne. They're the only games to actually average at least 90+ on Metacritic so far.

I wouldn't miss out on a masterpiece because of a visual style.

The game is not that goth anyways.

The IP is Sony's. Miyazaki has gone on record to say the pitch for the game was also Sony's.

But sure, let's be cynical based on nothing.

These are really great scores, the long wait til Friday will not be an easy one. I have to somehow stay out of the OT so as to not spoil myself all that much. I've already seen more than I should have allowed myself to!

And P5. I'm going to keep reminding everyone so it stays in the public conciousness

Demon's Souls wasn't only funded by Sony, it was also co-developed, there were people from Sony Japan involved in the game's conception, and i don't think it was any different with this one, so... :p

Western games being redundant while Japanese are being great for now so far, just as expected.

Because it would be nice if there was another Souls game that people who owned other platforms got to play?

Why do you want it to be exclusive?

My general approach to exclusives is that I think they can be a good thing, and can result in games coming out that wouldn't otherwise. Similarly they can support games with an ambition level or focus that may have been toned down as a multiplatform, mass market release.

Doesn't mean that will happen everytime of course. FROM will probably always have a janky engine no matter how much money is thrown at them.

My biggest bugbear with exclusives is when they jump platforms. That just fucks over consumers. If a title releases exclusively on PS3, then sequels should stay on PS3 or go multiplatform. And once they go multiplatform they should stay there.

Monster hunter and more recently Tomb Raider are examples of what not to do.

Lately I am hearing Bloodborne, bloodborne, bloodborne, bloodborne, bloodborne. This is maybe the biggest game that was hyped by Gaf in history (not saying this in a bad way), but it reminds me of the Metal Gear Sons of liberty days on gamefaqs, where everyone was making a thread for that game before release. I am getting the same feeling with Bloodborne now. People making threads of buying a PS4 is worth for Bloodborne, stuff like that. Never expected that From Soft got this big, in 2001 they were so niche. Time changes.

Sorry to mention more framerate here, but can anyone tell me how bad is it? Is it more like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls ? ( I thought demon's souls had a much better framerate, for the record)

I love From Soft but man, they really need to get their shit together when it comes to performance..they just don't seem to be able to get something stable in this regard.

This being said, whatever the framerate, I'll sacrifice my balls to a Volcano-God if needed to get a PS4 and this game.

Pretty sure port begging, as sly as it is, is bannable. Might want to chill on it.
Where was I port begging? Somebody was asking for a sequel that would have been exclusive and I said we shouldn't ask for more exclusives. I'd rather see FROM freed up to do something multiplatform rather than focusing more effort on exclusives. I thought people would have generally agreed that the more people who get to play FROM's games, especially from the so-called 'A team', the better, but I guess not.

They are still niche imo, the biggest kind of niche but still niche :p
And i'm happy with their success because it's not a planned "appeal the masses" strategy, they just make the games they want to make without listening to that kind of nosense which usually leads to hollow and horrible games

Demons and Dark Souls were the best games of last gen for me, I was trying to be sensible with my money and wait until this got cheaper but I cannot do it, now waiting until midnight on Thursday to play.

Reviews are as expected to be honest some people adore it and others find it overly frustrating and borderline ugly.

Is that launching this year?

From what i understand, its more Demon's Souls than Dark. There's no area that goes blighttown levels with those constant sustained types of drops, which is already a good thing. Yeah i'd say from what i've heard, it was around Demon's. It definitely has drops and slowdown, but never really sustained and not enough to really impede enjoyment

Seanspeed: The IP is owned by Sony, the game has been fully funded by Sony, Sony Japan has been helping FromSoft to develop the game and according to Miyazaki, the concept and ideas of Blodoborne were given to FromSoft by Sony after they finished up Prepare to Die Edition.

It's just like Demon's Souls for Sony and Bayonetta 2 for Wii U.

This stuff has been confirmed be the higher folks at FromSoft and Sony. Wherever you want to believe it is your choice, but what you believe does not denie the facts.

Lets not ask for more exclusives.

It is not a matter of asking for exclusives. Bloodborne = Success implies Bloodborne 2 is coming and will be exclusive. Sony is not funding for a one off. From is already releasing two more exclusives with Sony excluding Bloodborne but Bloodborne 2 will most certainly be on the cards.

why not? It's From decision, not you, if they want to work with Sony for sequel, let them work on it

Great reviews, didn't expect it as high as this but still 90+.
Can't wait to get my copy and enjoy it despite any flaws it might have (loading, difficulty, etc). Obviously a Goty contender since its announcement.

Just to be sure, you weren't happy when Final Fantasy jumped ship from Nintendo right?
