while true, that comes down to concept and execution.

All things being equal, having to develop a game for a single platform means the game is going to run better vs. a multiplatform title. Ps3 exclusives tended to hit a higher technical bar than PS3 multiplatform titles by a fairly wide margin.

That much is true, I'll give you that. From a technical standpoint, there can be advantages.

lol, i really love this kind of review

The most important review is still absent: Polygone...

Seems like the load times are the thorns for this game. Hopefully, a future patch is in the works to since this.

I don't know if they're joking, parodying, or being serious.

A common review is:

For an old school gamer with two kids and can only play a few hours a night and has never played a Souls game , is this save system going to cripple me... Will I play a few hours a night and have to turn off my system without saving any progress ? I really want to play this but I don't want to waste my money either if it's save system is sparse
It saves constantly. You can drop out of the game any time you like and resume exactly where you left.

It bums me out to see so many people place so much importance on the opinion of a site they don't like. Just stop paying so much attention to them.

I think it would be awesome if those games went multiplatform, though. I certainly wouldn't sit here and disagree if somebody hoped that Insomniac's next game was multiplatform, ya know? I'm not the sort who takes pride in my platform of choice having exclusives that other people cant play.

And again, I'm not port begging. I neither said nor implied anything about hoping Bloodborne to come to other systems. My comment was in reference to a completely hypothetical exclusive sequel.
Sony IP means any Bloodborne sequel will be exclusive to PS4. So stop sequel port begging.

Awesome reception for Bloodborne, this was pretty much the one game on the PS4 this year I expected to get stellar critical reception. From Software knows what they are doing and Sony did well to secure the title. There is no consipiracy and the people expecting low scores due to exclusivity are way off as ususal. Hopefully my pal who has a PS4 will let me take it for a week in the summer

I'm not saying I want Bloodborne or its sequel to be multiplatform. I'd just prefer FROM to focus their future efforts into multiplatform releases rather than exclusives. They aren't in such financial straits that they cant make games without external funding, ya know? The funding came in to lock them into an exclusive contract, not because Sony just wanted to be good guys and help them make a game. Lets not be naïve here. I mean, FROM are obviously free to do what they want and it will always be hard to turn away somebody offering to pay the bills, but I'd like a better effort with the next Dark Souls or whatever other game they choose to do. I enjoyed DS2 but it was clearly a bit uninspired and probably didn't get the attention it needed.

Hope that clears up what I was saying. I'm trying not to keep this off-topic talk going.
But at this time would From likely risk financing a new IP from the creator of the Souls series when that series is still a hot? Highly unlikely. Bloodborne didn't exist before Sony approached them to make a new IP for their upcoming system, but you'd know that already if you'd been following the development of the game. So you're really only here to complain because the game reviewed well and is exclusive to a company you don't like.

Your lack of port begging in sunset overdrive or star citizens threads belie attempt's to portray your self as even handed champion of multi plats.
I don't know what some of those words mean but I'm sure it was a cool dis.

*tips fedora*

The best part of the game getting great reviews is that you know some people who don't follow gaming as much and never played a souls game are going to buy it based on it them and they are about to get fucking rocked lol.

If only we could see it happen.

I'm a parent with three kids and also play at night, and it hasn't stopped me from enjoying Souls games or Bloodborne.

You'll probably hit a brick wall at the start and feel like you're making no progress for couple of hours but that's pretty normal. It'll click in your head and you'll start making progress. The important part is learning how to move and how to attack and it's all saved in your head and not on the console.

A few hours ago i saw this:

EDIT: It appears Metacritic is removing negative scores, randomly deciding if one review is a "troll" (aka decides to give the game a bad score). Be wary of the User Score, it's already been manipulated.

Well.... Posts like the quoted from you are far mor stupid than the "game is good 11/10"

I have never heard of Stevivor. Are they reputable?
Just read the review for what the text says. Then play the game.
Then decide if that reviewer or outlet will gain your readership.

You first need to establish a base line so you could also find an older review for a game you played.

Well, believe! It is Sony's IP, it is Sony's idea to make Bloodborne. They asked From to do this.

It is your problem if you don't want believe in that.

Try harder!

Its like people have their hands over their ears lol.

Maybe we should ask the dorito pope to do a final hours, like he conveniently did for titanfall.

That makes me laugh.

"Where's the difficulty options?"
"Why can't I pause?"
"Wot's dat green bar?"

I'm surprised to see it scoring this highly. I was expecting somewhere in the mid to upper 80s.

I rarely buy games brand new without getting a feel for general reception first. That said, I bought this without hesitation. Even when modern From is at their worst, it's still bound to be a compelling experience. Glad to see that it may end up as one of their best outings.

Jim comparing it to Demons Souls, my favorite in the series, bodes well too.

People are actually making screenshots of troll reviews (or simply terrible ones) and post them here? How low have you fallen to actually give these people attention.

Yeah, not sure if by "ugly-ass" visuals they hate the art direction, which is a personal preference, or they think the graphics suck. I don't know. Eager to see what Kotaku says, they don't hold back, i.e. The Order.

I am in the same boat and have very limited time and I have had no issues with the save system. You will just have to make smaller progressions which mean this wonderful game will take you longer. A FROM soft game will never be a waste of money. Enjoy it.

0 out of 10's on the user scores makes no sense, but review takedowns are nothing new

I'm happy the game is getting such a great reception. It does however make the wait until Friday in the UK almost unbearable.

I can't wait for this game to completely destroy me. I may invest in a third DS4 just in case of "accidental" wall throwing incidents.

I think it's the opposite. Most of these reviewers are gamers. Hardcore gamers. I think an even greater challenge (tough but fair) would garner a higher score from many of these outlets and not the opposite. This isn't "Joe Call of Doody" gamer writing the reviews for the most part.

I've been playing for three hours and can't even figure out how to level up my character.

Here's the another thing you have to consider. If you personally are good at Souls games now, then you are already going to be better at this game than you were when you originally started in the Souls series. So your level of skill is already starting at a higher level than the previous games in the series. That colors your viewpoint to say that the game is simply easier when it's quite possible that you're simply better than you were 1-2+ years ago for the previous games.

Perhaps. And you're right that I'm better at these games now than when I first started playing them, of course. I found DeS, which I played after DkS, a lot easier overall, while others seem to be of the opposite opinion (although I think my position seems to be the prevailing one?). But then we also have experienced Souls players, who have played all the games and would supposedly have noticed this effect before, saying this game IS significantly easier than any previous one. We'll see.

I can't take the work day today. Those reviews are so good I just want to be home playing it! I was gonna get the game regardless of reviews, but the consistent 9s has me extemely excited.

You can exit at any time through the system settings and it will return you there next time you load. Only problem is dying which returns you back to a save spot and re spawns enemies, that part is comparatively old school.

I don't know how people are playing for 5 hours at a time, after one hour I'm so tense I have to take a break.
