ehh, spending $20 on FH4 with all the DLC before it got delisted was the smarter purchase imo. No interest in this anytime soon.

The main reason wasn't just the games. If that was the case the 360 wouldn't have sold as well as it did.
A lot of people went from Xbox 360 to PS4 because they didn't like Microsoft's vision with that console.
A lot of those people then built up digital libraries on the PS4, which made the transition to PS5 a no-brainer.
Xbox games will be very successful on the PS5 and Switch 2.

Meh. I have FH5 on Xbox, it’s pretty but incredibly boring. I really wish developers would get the clue that less is more. A vast open world map doesn’t negate that you are doing the same uninteresting things over and over.
The only reason I would get this at any point is if it has competent motion controls.

Either the games are successful or they bomb. MS aren't owed sales any more than any other publisher; if they want these games to sell well on PS and Nintendo the quality has to be there and the market appeal has to be wide enough given whatever the game's niche is (and associated costs, all that stuff).
In the case of FH5 they just happen to have a great open-world racer in a niche that isn't particularly saturated in the market these days, even on PS5, so barring a disaster rollout it should do pretty well.
Can't say the same for something like Hellblade 2 tho; unless that game got a massive redesign with, well, actual gameplay, it'd bomb harder on PS5 than it did on Xbox and PC (sales-wise). Ditto for Forza Motorsport; who in their right mind would get that broken game when a masterpiece like GT7 is already there?

If Xbox hardware basically becomes like a gaming PC, if anything PS & Nintendo owners buying MS games would help ensure the hardware stays around. I mean by that point, the hardware's not being sold at a loss anyway, they'd be completely removed from that type of business strategy.
Plus, they'd be producing smaller volume of units anyway, so big software sales on multiple platforms just means higher likelihood hardware continues, albeit not as a traditional console. The only way Xbox hardware goes away is if their console/PC hybrid approach is also a massive bomb and ends up losing money like Xbox Series hardware currently does, even after shifting away from a traditional business model.
At least logically, that's how I see it.

Release games I want (Ori, Lost Odyssey), I'll buy them. No different than any other publisher.
Forza Horizon 5 is great, but I've already beaten it on Xbox. And unlike the others I listed, I don't like it enough to replay it. I'll be there for Horizon 6, though.

Im only interested in a handful of their games at this point- will grab those and thats about it. Most of their 2025 lineup doesn't appeal to me.
My enjoyment of their games is rooted in older stuff/classics and Indiana Jones. Sold my XSX at the end of the year- first time since my first job i no longer support a console.
Back on topic though- I cant stand the Horizon series. I prefer Motorsports.

I doubt Microsoft really cares about Xbox as a brand any more. They almost pulled the plug on it after the One flopped and were rumored to be thinking about it again in 2021.
Satay Nutella and the shareholders he answers to only care about dollars. Whether those dollars are coming from an Xbox player, a Nintendo player or a PlayStation player is going to be ultimately irrelevant to him.
