I haven't done it yet, as I wanted to do some primary testing without an OC, but I'll doing some OC tests soon. I have the MSI Gaming Trio OC Version and it's already providing really good results.

This is wild. I'm pretty sure this never happened in the history of GPUs. Some cards (i.e.,) even had locked shader units you could unlock to boost performance, but missing ROPs is an insane oversight.

Yeah was actually a 5090 prebuilt from Best Buy and yeah I was forced to return it
Was able to get a 5080 prebuilt so kind of happy with that until maybe 5090 stock comes back

I got those lines too a couple of times too when I plugging in a 2nd display(my 8K QLED) while encoding video files.This launch was horrible.

I was getting them with different cables, tried using all the different ports and even switched monitors and was still getting them
Sometimes they would be red but always vertical.
Tried reseating it but nothing helped so it went back

RT and FSR/XeSS do. If AMD/Intel can atleast be comparable to Nvidia in those categories, i would buy AMD/Intel. So far they've not been close enough.
It's a joke that both AMD/Intel have no GPU that is close to RTX 4080 in RT after almost 2 and half years! Hopefully 9000 series will be good.

Looks like 1/2% of the 5090's are affected plus some of the 5070ti's. Admittedly sounds like I should go with my plan of holding off until May or June and seeing what available. (Admittedly I tend to hold off upgrading my PC around now in part because were I live it's so dry I'm worried I'll zap stuff with a spark of static electricity. It's not a problem once spring rolls around.)

This is a bad take. I've run large fully remote and hybrid eng orgs that predate COVID. (I am "old") If you can't properly performance manage remote engineers you won't be able to properly performance manage them in an open floor plan office either. You just give up talent pool for some weird perception of productivity.
All serious tech companies have extremely mature models for per engineer performance. None of it requires seeing a person or nannying how they spend their hours per day. Butts-in-chairs as a measure of performance just doesn't work for top performing orgs, and if your company/manager/middle-manager thinks otherwise... leave

This year I need to change my 2018 notebook and I was thinking to buy something with a mobile 5080 but at this point I don't know what to expect, I'm definitely not going to spend 4000$ on it..let's see reviews and what I can buy with a 2500$ budget.
