Yeah, I tried having this talk with my wife, and she just told me "then why aren't other Chinese apps banned? This is all just lobbiest from Meta and other US social companies trying to kill TikTok".

There is a point to be made about why is TikTok targeted and nothing else.

Because, beyond the memes, its purpose is to fuck up the minds of a whole generation of young Western people while the young Chinese are encouraged to study maths and IT. In geopolitics, you can't stay at the top if half the population is dumber than a rock. Atomic bombs is not enough. See Russia.

This seems like a ploy by Meta to shut TT down. It’s all algorithm driven, my feed is filled with people engineering and designing things, cooking, and sharing history knowledge. No brain rot but I can definitely see how it can corrupt people.

I find more spam on FB with fake accounts, bots and the like.
